I thought he jumped super in the warm up and again in the class. Best I’ve seen him use himself and you rode him brilliantly! So glad you let him finish on a high note. Absolutely loved this decision ❤
I would make the same call with a green horse too. And when they are ex racers who are a bit fed up of racing you need to keep them sweet and happy in their new career!!
@@footluceeventing I have an ex racer who hated racing so have done lots of outings where we cut the day short when he is still enjoying himself and it seems to be making him much happier about life
Well done on a fab round!! He is looking awesome. It’s so nice to have relatable vlogs with ex racers- they really do seem to take 2/3 years to come up to a nice level. Thank you for the inspiration and goals
Just brilliant 🤩 it’s a joy to watch you build your relationship with Ember. Thank you for keeping it real, and showing us how to build a trusting relationship with your horse. I wish I had Justine Ward to call upon for help and advice. Vicariously, watching you, I guess I do! ❤😊
Bless you for your patience and understanding of what he needs. So right to end on a good note and there are plenty of more opportunities when the time is right. Congrats on the 2nd.
That was a BEAUTIFUL round. Stopping on that happy note was a very good call. I do the same thing with my dog training clients. You rode him so well and he kept such a nice rhythm and listened to you. Congratulations on winning second! 🥈
well done lucy and ember! he jumps beautifully when you push him onto a longer one rather than his choppy shorter stride, he really stretches out over the jump and looks great! i also agree with the martingale being removed, my boy has a very natural high head carriage and it just made it worse with the increased pressure x
Wow, Ember has really come such a long way with his showjumping Luce !! That was such a lovely round, good call to leave it on a high note for both of you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻💯🥰❤️
I love him, he’s come on so much! I love the way he skips in to his flying changes, I get the feeling he really does know where his legs are meant to be 🎉
Blimey that warm up was chaos, I think I'd have slunk off home! 😂 Well done on your round, and the rosette! Ember is really starting to get his head in the game. Good idea to withdraw from the second class, always end on a good note! 💖
@@footluceeventing If I'd been there, I'd have been blocking the gate and only letting two people at a time in! I have a very school marm voice, everyone would probably have run away! 😂
I don't blame you. Ember can do a 90, he's such a scopey boy but so much better to end on a good note. It was a lovely round! Ember has become so much more rideable. He's spunky for sure but he's a TB and that is par for the course! His canter has become so nice but always room for improvement so - be happy with the second! I think it is so hard to let him go a little more forward, he doesn't fight you and is able to concentrate on his job! Well done!!
For being in such a busy warm up area, he settled quickly. His round was super!! You have come on leaps and bounds, good idea to end it on a positive, good confidence boost for him. x
What a great day! He jumped so epically, and I loved all his sound effects. Yes, definitely good decision, especially if the 90 is a step up. Let you both feel the confidence in yourselves. I also loved the trick questions for Rob at the end. He was like, there is no right answer except yes. 😂
Well Done Ember and Lucy!!! It is always good to end on a high note, Ember is jumping super well, you two have really clicked, Good team work! Keep it up. Lots of love
Hiya, good to see you out and smiley again. Once the boy got the chance to settle in the warm up he looked great. His jumping was super, I loved the way he ignored the pigeon flying through in the middle of your round 😂. He seemed to be wanting to favour his left lead a lot but that might be just him going by where your weight/aids are. All in all just marvellous. Happy happy day. Jolly well done guys x
Losing the martingale seems to really help him, he looks so much more comfortable and goes so much better without it! Funny beasts! Congrats on a great result and defo a good decision.

Smart to quit while you're ahead, he's still a bit of a baby imo. 😊 Also, don't they train racehorses to pull to go faster? That's my understanding at least for TBs here in America. What a lovely day you had. Makes me think back to your early days with him in amazement. ❤
Yes exactly that, they ‘grab them up’ to encourage them to go.. but I’ve worked on my technique with him (for this phase anyway!) and we’re getting there 👏
