      Yeah, I was wondering why they were going to all that effort to wreck the kitchen set up that looked awesome and had character. It's like he must have so much money that everything becomes cheap to him and he has no grounding. Everything was to be picked at some store, and they seemed to not really use their minds. I think a lot of these biulds is just knowing what you want and why and how to do it. If you know that, it could be exceptionally cheap or free. For having that woman for the kitchen, the kitchen sure was disjointed and unimpressive.

    she's not even the wife yet, and says she doesn't want to be pushy, but demands that they reconfigure the whole cooker arrangement to suit her. I've never seen anybody put in a garden before the house is finished, yet he insisted on the garden, now it's all torn up. He blames it on not being on-site, yet couldn't they have just called him and gotten approval? He's making lots of dumb mistakes. Some people have more money than sense.

    Jeremy was clueless as many people are when it comes to renovation. Once he had the sit down with the builder and went over the timeline needed and turned over control the project got going. Smartest move he could have made. Thankfully the fiancé helped tone down some of his more wild ideas for the decore. It looks like there is still lots of decorating to do so he can work in some bits he likes without going too overboard. Anyway in the end Jeremy got what he had always wanted a proper settled home! Hopefully these two will settle into country life nicely.

    First, I like how they are saving these old wonderful homes. However, the British tend to modernize the interiors without putting in the old world charm. There are ways to make a kitchen look old world, but still be modern. They don't do that. I guess it's because they live around so many "old" things, they crave what's new. Here in America, we want to bring back old world charm, but still make it functional.

    • @tamaracarter1836
      @tamaracarter1836 3 года назад

      I’m sorry but you’re very wrong in that assumption. You are judging every single person in Britain on a few renovation shows (the majority of which date to between “2005-2010” here on RUclips), and that couldn’t be further from the truth. First of all the people that actually “choose” to go on programmes like this are hardly your average everyday man/ woman… hence their seemingly warped sense of “perspective” (i.e. installing a garish kitchen within a 16th century cotswold home). And of course secondly, this all took place over a decade ago; so-called “modern” interiors such as this would certainly not be appealing to the majority in 2021.
      There are hundreds of thousands of historic houses in England, that not only look beautiful on the outside, but have retained wonderful character and charm on the inside. For example I live in a 600 year old half-timbered cottage in Eastern England, and still have original beams, flagstone flooring, fireplaces etc - as do almost all other medieval/ Tudor properties within my village.
      Another thing to remember is that anything with an important historic interior will be *heavily* listed (i.e. you are unable to change a single thing and anything you do change has to be done with an authentic artisan technique). The building in this programme, although 16th century, did not possess anything (internally) of note - although of course they should still have been sympathetic to its history in their choice of interior decoration! My guess is that the only thing listed within that property was its exterior (which is beautiful and typical of the region), therefore they could not alter external things such as the windows, but were given free reign to decorate the interior however they saw fit (without actually destroying anything of architectural note of course).
      Believe me we definitely do not “crave modern” either. We greatly respect and cherish our historic architecture; hence why we have so much remaining.

    Ah men, bless em. I would not start anything without the project being signed off. It is disrespectful to be this cavalier with other professionals. As for the kitchen lintel all they had to do was set it back a few inches so she did not bump her head reaching for her pots on the back burner! The buck stops with Jeremy! And then expect them to prioritise the work when he has caused them to stand around for months? Not a balanced argument at all. Cannot think how he performs as a CFO. Ah men 🙏

    So sad.....they’ve lost the integrity of the house. It seemed cold...no comfortable flow with the design or colors. Perhaps it will change when they move in. Homes are meant for family, so I’m sure it will be much better.

    Enough said about this man in other comments about his attitude.
    In my eyes a very lousy project manager where it comes to his own house, doesn't show his face in the beginning at all, plans work in wrong order (garden!), changes mind all the time, seems to set other peoples input aside and finally starts to complain when thing don't turn out as he liked.
    And finally has to throw the towel in the ring and pass managing over to someone else who gets it done in no time.
    Money clearly hasn't be an issue, the house has been extended since this series had been made, and a large modern (Aaarrrgh) conservatory added, looked it up on Maps.

    One thing I noticed is that she said she was a plumber's daughter from someplace, and as an American I find that weird. Haha On this Home Restoration show there was a woman who married a rich guy and she described herself as a plumber's daughter too....so I guess, watch out for those plumber daughters. Maybe their mums told them to marry a rich guy and not a guy that is touching toilets all day and can eat a sandwich off one. The places those hands have been must mess up women folk. Hahaha

      Holly Hocks it's a public comment posted on a public forum about a program aired to the public. If you plan on policing comments you're going to be quite busy 😄

    That guy drives like a ...... oh, hes a BMW driver!!!! Driving like that..... clearly not watching out for children or animals in the village, especially with no foot paths and clearly ignores signage and speed limits. You can take the man out of the street but you cant take the street out of the man!!! Should have also known a bit about the CDM Building Regulations.
