Awesome soundtrack !!!!speaking of music I believe Tom sholz of band Boston is from Boston his first studio was built in the basement of a house somewhere in Boston any truth to that that freeway Jim knows of? I am 49 now born in 74 I was jamming Boston's first 8track album when I was 3 years old and still do to this day!!!your videos rock keep up the good work Jim!!!! what is your favorite Boston song?don't forget smokin!!!!!!
Such a nice video, it showed me something I didn't know. I moved to beantown 2 years ago and I currently live in Braintree and every morning I take my wife to Chelsea for her class and then drive to Cambridge to work. I didn't know that Tobin Bridge (US-1) going north bound is free of Toll. So I always take I-93 and get off at Everett (Exit 29) and go to Chelsea via Revere Beach pkwy. I will take this route on your video starting next monday :)
Thanks, So narrow in fact on I-93 north of the city they'll let you drive in the breakdown lane during rush hour. Most of the system was built in the late 50's to mid 60's and it shows.
Thanks. There are quite a few cancelled freeways in the Boston area, had they been built it would be quite different. Yeah they aren't that wide either. Property up there is ridiculously expensive.
I never got a chance to comment on this, but this really hits local for me (I believe I see my apartment complex in this video). It's pretty damn awesome breezin' the Expressway without the gas and the effort and the speeding ticket (if only they'd multiply the speed limits by 4...). Great job.
Thank you! Either the builder is incompetent or they made it a bit rough on purpose to keep the speeds down in the tunnel. I would have thought they'd lay down a concrete surface but what do I know?
Did I see a windmiil @1:46? Some of the freeways built in the 50s have too many sharpe curves for the speeds! Like parts of I 20, here in Atlanta. Enjoy the vidios!
So I watched the video on here about the big dig 45 min documentary. In your video at 2:30 you go on the 90 which is the tunnel in the big dig right? So did they demolished the above ground elevated steel road structure? what is there now? Thanks
Favorite video of yours Jim!!! Can you imagine if they completed all the interstates and expressway expansions in Boston??? Imo they should have completed some but not all of them, like the inner belt I-695 if done properly would have been a benefit so would the southwest expressway, that one is a real shame since they ha dalready taken the homes and cleared the path for it, such a waste of effort and sacrifice of those unfortunate citizens
imo that's the worst thing anyone can do. do demo someones home or a historic building for something new and not even build it. This was the fate of Hartfords first skyscraper which was demod in 1990 for a 45 storey building. It was never built.
you get on the Dan Ryan expressway (I-90-94) in Chicago and at night at any time, there is a traffic jam, Where I-57 and I-94 merge together on rthe southside of Chgo, its horrible at any time of the night and the weekends are very very horrible/ the best way to get around Chicago is get on I-294 (Tri State Tollway) and everybody is doing 80mph or faster but the speed limit is 55mph!!
You win. I'm using Premiere Elements 7. I have an HD camera but HD files are a pain to edit. They slow down the PC. Good ol' SD works just fine for me.
Yeah, Boston has a decent amount of highways: Route 2 (northwest), I-93 (north/southeast), Route 1 (northeast), I-90 (west) and Route 128 (beltway) but there’s no limited access highway coming in from the southwest, which causes major traffic jams on 93. They def should’ve constructed I-95 south of the city (the land had already been cleared), and honestly, I’d still consider it a viable option today. They could build like a 4-6 lane highway over the train tracks, and then bring all of the trains in the Southwest Corridor onto the Fairmount Line ROW
Cool. Thank you for letting me know. Cool sound. I love your videos. Do you have any of upstate New York cities besides Albany ? Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, Binghamton, to name a few. What about doing one of my hometown Poughkeepsie ? Keep up the great work and thanks again.
Johnny Caretaker Thank you but sorry, don't have any from those places. I live in Atlanta, Poughkeepsie is probably not someplace I'll be going anytime soon. I invite you to check out some of my videos from out west this past summer (The Rockies, California), I upgraded the camera and editing software.

Thanks and yes that's all true about Tom Scholz and Boston, hard to pick a favorite, all the songs on the first two albums are great.
Such a nice video, it showed me something I didn't know.

2:28 The tunnel goes PERFECT with the "Bridge" of the song. Was that intentional?
2:28
That's VERY cool of you to make these videos!!!............It gets me out of my house for a while when I can't actually get out!!
BRAVO JIM! Great timing with music. Especially going through the Downtown tunnel.
Thanks,

Thanks, on this trip I drove my wife's Acura MDX, I drive my Acura TL around town and on short trips.
@cfoster81 Thank you, but New Edition isn't going to happen, sorry.
1:34 - Is that the "gas tank" that is often referred to in Boston traffic reports?
"Ambulance Coming Up Wicked Fast From Behind" - that gave me a chuckle. Nice to see you know your Massachusetts terminology.
Thanks.
There are quite a few cancelled freeways in the Boston area, had they been built it would be quite different. Yeah they aren't that wide either. Property up there is ridiculously expensive.
Yes, although I had to manipulate the speed before and through the tunnel just a little bit to make it work.
I never got a chance to comment on this, but this really hits local for me (I believe I see my apartment complex in this video). It's pretty damn awesome breezin' the Expressway without the gas and the effort and the speeding ticket (if only they'd multiply the speed limits by 4...). Great job.
@guitars71 Thanks, glad you enjoy them!
LOL at "Ambulance coming up wicked fast from behind." I am from Southern NH and say wicked all the time so that was great.
The EASIEST editor on PC is Pinnacle Studio. That's what I learned on. The most powerful is Adobe Premiere... IMHO of course.
Thank you!
Either the builder is incompetent or they made it a bit rough on purpose to keep the speeds down in the tunnel.
I would have thought they'd lay down a concrete surface but what do I know?
FreewayJim,
Awesome music! Also, I appreciate your support of the local teams! (1:47)
Did I see a windmiil @1:46?

Like parts of I 20, here in Atlanta.
Enjoy the vidios!
Watching this video makes me miss Boston a lot. :-(
Awesome!!! I love Acuras!! thanks for answering my question! :)

That's awesome. What editor do you use?
Awesome video of Beantown! :) I have a question: what kind of car do you take out on your trips? Thanks !!! 5/5 for me!
@4ever4tube Thank you, I'm glad I could help, lol! The northbound tolls were taken out years ago
Correct! I have a Boston street video from earlier this year that follows where the old elevated artery used to be.

i thought this would be a dumb vid. but i was mistaken. you put a lot of work in it . good job
HDR-SR11 hard disk camera. Those AVCHD files are a bear to mess with, even with a Core 2 Quad which is what I have. Supposedly i7 will fix that.
I am a NH native and fan of those teams....how old are you?
i work under the tobin. my first day on the job i was hit in the head by a shoe. somine had jumped and their shoe hit me right in the head.
Danny Thomas wtf?
@MattTrakker Thanks, That's Boston for ya.
MiniDV is a breeze to work with, even in HD.
Ravenel Bridge in Charleston looks a lot like the cable bridge in this video.
You win. I'm using Premiere Elements 7. I have an HD camera but HD files are a pain to edit. They slow down the PC. Good ol' SD works just fine for me.
Awesome.
Boston has a rather small freeway network considering the size of the metropolitan area. They don't have wide roads either.
European Roads it has 3 interstates but Philadelphia only has 2.

Been there, drove that.
I use a Sony HDR-HC9 Camcorder (HD)
The Apple software is so easy to use it's amazing.
@Railfan2103 Thanks
Pretty cool vid!
I usually don't defer to state routes.
@multiplecats -Glad to hear my videos have been helpful to you, good luck with your move.
If you can handle DC driving you can handle Boston :)
@nostalgiamelancolia1
Boston is bigger than Seattle. Boston: city = 617,594, MSA = 4,552,402, CSA = 7,559,060; Seattle: city = 608,660, MSA = 3,439,809, CSA = 4,199,312
how many toybota Prius did you count? lol
1:45 The windmill.
@danthomastherocker1 -I'm sure that wasn't pleasant but is a funny story, thanks.
@LCCDrummer I'm a NH native so I know the lingo up there :)
The most powerful is Final Cut Pro
@nostalgiamelancolia1
Oh I got the meaning. I'm just saying that Boston not only looks bigger but is bigger.
they need a lane for that ambulance
I think so.
@TimeGalaxy: Oh my! please do not judge the rest of America's roads by what you see in Boston.
In New-Brunswick Canada the roads are extremely horrible! There like 10 time worse that the roads in this video.
holy hell this is old.
Mine was born in Peabody.
Apple Final Cut Express 4.
AND post!
I love these videos of yours...but not the Boston sports teams. No offense meant. :)
MOTLEY CREW
Not quite. That's Motley Crue singer Vince Neil from his solo album, Steve Stevens from Billy Idol does the guitar work.
