I bought next Ruger American rifle in 2020 (but this time Ruger Predator ) 308 Win , and once again got a probems with magazine (this time not rotary but Flush fit ) I ask RUGER staff about conversion kit - got answear as with this SERIAL Number kit will not WORK ! I insisted to buy ! FINALLY yesterday , i have made ! and ..... works as HELL with MAGPUL 7,62x51 magazine ! Thanks ME !
When I purchased mine at Bass Pro in Ohio, it already had this installed. I have read another article in I think in American Rifleman which the author discussed having a rotary mag. I sighted in a Vortex at 100 yds and the 10 rounders I ordered from Ruger came in handy to get shots right. With that said, I put quite a few rounds downrange in heat of summer and never gave much thought about the barrell cooling down between shots. I hope accuracy won't be affected too much I purchased this to be an all weather hog rifle and any other 2 or 4 legged North American predator.
I would not argue with that statement. I never really thought about it, but my EDC gun and hunting rifle are both Ruger now. Although I have never had to deal with their customer service I hear that it is among the best also.
I bought a Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor. Later I bought a Magpul Hunter stock. I have been too busy at work to change thinks over. But when I was checking what was in the box. The ACIS magazine from Magpul fits in ether stock. And the Ruger magazine seems to fit the Magpul stock. But from other sources, the serial numbers said I could only use the Ruger magazine..
I just used a Remington 700 walnut stock, inletted the top for the Ruger American, dropped (bedded) in the V blocks, use Pacific Tool and Guage bottom metal. Much better.
This video helped immensely, thank you very much, the serial number information was gold, I was unsure if mine was a candidate for the conversion kit until I seen this video, thank you.... New sub
My magazine latch would not fit into the assembly tool without the use of a dremel. I had to remove a small amount of material from the tool but after that all went well.
When you have the new base bolted up, test fit the latch with an inserted magazine before you drive the pin. Each one will be different, and some may require a bit of creative file work.
The Ruger mag that comes with it is proprietary to ruger. It has limited round count and will only work with this rifle. The AICS mags are standard mags that work in many different kinds of rifles, and you can get larger capacity mags like 5 and 10 round.
I bet the magpul stock works either way don't matter what your serial number is. I'm gonna try it and I'll update what I experience because I do have the 01 serial number
hi there, what vortex mm is that scope? also if you can let me know what ring size those are. I have a similar set up that i'm' looking to add a scope. Great video
Scope is Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 AO Riflescope, Dead-Hold BDC Reticle CF2-31033 Rings are Vortex Optic Pro Series Rifle Scope rings (PR-1M). I reached out to vortex directly and they confirmed that these rings are the correct height for this setup with the goal of getting as low as possible with lens cap.
I went with the shorter 18” barrel. I live in dense forest and run a suppressor. The 4” less makes the rifle more nimble in the brush and the accuracy difference is minimal. Especially since I rarely have more than 100ft of visibility between trees.
I went with a 5 round, because the 10 looked like it would stick out awkwardly, and the Ruger American barrel is not meant for rapid fire. I try to wait a 5-10 minutes between shots, to let the barrel cool.
"Like # 667... I didn't think about putting a light on the video that's my bad, until I saw that there were six hundred and 66 likes. Sorry folks I couldn't let it sit like that. Plus thanks for the video
Glad you finally called the magazine catch a mag release, hearing you call it a trigger was painful. That hammer...yikes! That hammer has no place near any firearms. Get a couple of the small sizes of ball peen hammers and a hammer made with firearms in mind that has interchangeable heads. (I have seen people use that jig successfully and I have seen people do the install without)
At the 1.55 mark you were putting the magazine clasp (you called it a trigger) into the jig BACKWARDS. See this video for correct use of jig: ruclips.net/video/LP7hfsB7VUI/видео.html Here is another vid showing how to use the jig: ruclips.net/video/i1j8XyJZBdM/видео.html

Thank you man for this video. When I called Ruger and ask them for the conversion piece they actually gave it to me for free lol.
Thank you! Looking to purchase a Ruger .308 American Ranch rifle but was concerned about magazine capacity. No more!

Could it be quite possible that Ruger is now the best firearm company in America now?
I would not argue with that statement. I never really thought about it, but my EDC gun and hunting rifle are both Ruger now. Although I have never had to deal with their customer service I hear that it is among the best also.
Not possible but one of the better ones. There is no one that is the best.
In my use I've found the Ruger Aics mags fit a lot better than the magpul.
I modded out a righty stock for my lefty...it's rough out here being a lefty...😆😆 it's legit AF love the fk out of box mag setup
Just picked up my Ruger. I was wondering if there was an adapter for the AI mags without having to swap stocks. Thank you for the information.
a tip : you can watch series on flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Johnathan Ronnie Yea, have been using Flixzone for months myself :)

The jig is very useful. I’m not sure if you have the updated manual showing how to use it
I found the updated manual just now at ruger-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/_manuals/americanRifle.pdf. It is much more helpful.
My magazine latch would not fit into the assembly tool without the use of a dremel. I had to remove a small amount of material from the tool but after that all went well.
What is the item number of Magpul mag with the brown tab ?
Finally picked her up and will doing this ASAP

Thanks for the info
Very helpful
Nice, will it only work with the predator model? If so, do any of you fellas know any other company etc that will work? Thx
What's the benefit of the different mag?? Why change it?? (I'm new to rifles)
The Ruger mag that comes with it is proprietary to ruger. It has limited round count and will only work with this rifle. The AICS mags are standard mags that work in many different kinds of rifles, and you can get larger capacity mags like 5 and 10 round.
Thank you! Great video.
Thanks for the info . I would like to know you got the sling .
It's a Blue Force Gear Vickers padded sling
Thanks Alot from Idaho!

I tried it. It worked I also ordered the ruger conversion and it worked

great channel. - looking for a predator as well! what barrel length is this? 18 or 22? Can you explain why you went with that length? thx
I went with the shorter 18” barrel. I live in dense forest and run a suppressor. The 4” less makes the rifle more nimble in the brush and the accuracy difference is minimal. Especially since I rarely have more than 100ft of visibility between trees.
what is the capacity of the AICS mag that you used for your rifle in this video ? 5 rounds or 10 rounds ? thanks.
I went with a 5 round, because the 10 looked like it would stick out awkwardly, and the Ruger American barrel is not meant for rapid fire. I try to wait a 5-10 minutes between shots, to let the barrel cool.
Does the Ruger site have a link to this? Or do you have a part number?
You can actually buy them already with AICS magwells. That's what I did with my 6.5 creedmoor american predator
@@Brandon-yq1tm Like anything else you have to find one. It's not that easy.
@@garrytalley8009 I found mine pretty easily, was my first rifle.
my black ruger American n 308 #6901 was able to AICS
Perhaps the jig that did NOT work for the trigger is actually for the mag release?
Some 6901 serial numbers do work
6900 works too
I bet the magpul stock would work
Nice video.
Whats the sling? I like it.
Custom Vickers blue force gear. The website lets you design your own.
Is it reliable as the rotary mag?
Much more reliable.
The rotary mag is unreliable. That is why all the Ruger's made now have non rotary magazines.
Where can I buy the mag well? I can't find it anywhere
Call Ruger. You need to get it directly from them.

Do pmags work?
Yes I use 5 round pmags
This is the mag I use

Thanks, it was a tight fit. That is probably why I missed it.
Seems like this should been standard just saying
