Is there a particular region you tend to gravitate towards? Are you a big, peaty, oily, Islay fan? Or do you tend to prefer the more gentle, lighter drams from the Lowlands? Let me know below ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Visited the Cambeltown Springback distillery a couple of years back, we went on a little road trip up through the highlands, skye and some of the islands, and back down through the peninsula, mostly visiting distillery's along the way. Springbank is underrated AF in my head, one of my favourites.
Perfect primer for anyone new to the regions. Well done! Doing a similar tour of Japan's distilleries could be a good idea. Their supplies are poised to return to market soon and you'd be ahead of the curve.
I love whisky!!! Scotch Whisky is a drink that can be described as bold, strong, and fiery, although it can also be smooth, almost sweet, and a drink of depth and contrast - just like Scotland itself!
Just a couple of points: you included Glenfarclas in Highland, but it's in the very heart of Speyside (though it could choose to be labelled as either) and Bunnahabhain makes both unpeated and peated whiskies (e.g. Moine, Ceobanach, Toiteach). Just in case anyone gets confused...
Very good points! Glenfarclas, at least on the bottle of 105 I used in the B-roll, is labelled as a highland, hence its inclusion (as I don’t have many highland whiskies on the shelf to use 😔). But I guess it is a Speyside. I’ve actually never actually considered checking that... I’m quite new to the Glenfarclas and I only own the 105. Thanks for bringing that up! I’ll definitely be more thorough in my research next time. 😅 Also very true! Bunnahabhain do produce both, but their age statement core range are all unpeated, hence my comment. Completely appreciate it’s a massive overgeneralisation, but I could make a whole video on that alone! Thanks for stopping by, Andrew! I hope you’ll stick around despite my inaccuracies. Slainte! 🥃
@@itsgoodjuice I just checked a Glenfarclas bottle and was amused to see that it says "Highland Single Malt", but includes "Speyside" in the address! I just remember it wasn't very far from Dufftown when someone took me there to do a tour...
@@andrewbutler7681 talk about confusing, eh!! I guess I’ve potentially added to that confusion, but I’ll be sure to correct that in a future video. I blame Glenfarclas.... 😂
Outstanding as per usual and exactly what I wanted to see, thanks for that. Of course you had to go and mention ranking whiskey , so now I'm thinking how about we get your top 10 personal whiskey choices? If such a thing is possible
Great video. It's interesting how many exceptions there are to what whisky from a certain region should be, as you say. But with so many distilleries in Scotland I guess that's inevitable! What are your favourite regions?
Isn’t it, right!? I definitely think it was more of a historical thing, but with so many distilleries becoming more progressive in their approach to whisky, those boundaries are becoming more and more blurred. A very exciting time to be a Whisky drinker! Oooh now I’m a big peat guy. I love a really big medicinal peat hit. But also a big fan of Sherry and port cask finishes on big fruity Speysides. Also absolutely love a buttery Campbeltown.... oof I just can’t choose one? Can I just say all of them? 😂

I very much look forward to taking a road trip round as many distilleries as possible! Ill also definitely be taking a camera

I don't have a preferred region, I like them all! Great vid as usual, Cheers!

As an absolute beginner, I find myself more drawn to trying some Speysides!
I definitely do love a speyside!

Thanks brother! I've got a video coming up going through the contents of my shelf! Should be a couple of weeks
