I had a few black students in my freshman history class in college and a few from Africa and when we got to the topic of slavery the professor would look at the black students and talk very slowly to choose her words carefully so she wouldn't offend anyone.

I’m Japanese but I born in the US and when I was in the fourth grade my teacher said we were gonna talk about Pearl Harbor and every single kid in that class stared dead at me (I went to a predominantly white school there were only like 3 other Asians that went to that school).
I had the exact opposite happen with me. White kid who went to predominantly black elementary school (I'm talking maybe 10 white kids and a few white teachers), and a predominantly black middle school (Much more of a mix, maybe consisting of about 10% white 30% other races, and about 60% black), and when the talk about slavery came up, I kinda got the looks, seeing as I was one of two white people in the class. It was somewhat awkward, although definitely not intentional. The teacher, who's also black, was the type to cater towards every group. He made that class feel much more comfortable and made sure to mention it wasn't all the white peoples fault that slavery was so prevalent. One time he even had a student who's parents believed in paganism, and seeing as that's pretty rare, he sorta poked fun at it, and after hearing that through a parent teacher conference, he asks his class every year to make sure they're comfortable with him joking about it. He's definitely been one of my favorite teachers, as even now going into sophomore soon, I still think about how good of a teacher he was. Anyway yeah, I had an experience almost parallel to this one and I'm sorry for the people in classes like mine or the one in this skit, who experience the awkwardness of being singled out like that. Went to a school where I was the only black person in the class. Didn’t have a uniform yet and came in when they were talking about slavery.
EVERY SINGLE TIME the teacher said the word slave they would all turn and look at me.
Not to mention the only seat that was available was in the back of the class.
I got to the point where when they turned around, I turned around too.
