    Want the best plugin settings for MIXING with Audeze's most affordable studio headphones, the LCD-1? We're not talking about listening to music, this is accuracy for mixwork so that your mixes will translate as well as possible.
    LCD-1 with these plugin settings gives a very well balanced mix with a lot of detail and super sharp transients.
    EQ Settings :
    105Hz +2.00dB Q2.0 Low Shelf 12dB/Oct
    1873Hz +2.14dB Q2.0 Peak 24dB/Oct
    3230Hz -2.00dB Q2.5 Peak 24dB/Oct
    7750Hz +2.50dB Q5.0 Peak 12dB/Oct
    If using Can Opener Studio - Hyper-realistic mode (Recommended setting, add 1 dB to each point for actual difference compared to standard mode)
    700Hz +0.80dB Q1.0 Peak 12dB/Oct
    1100Hz +1.50dB Q1.0 Peak 12dB/Oct

    Hi my names Harry. Firstly, thanks for you very informative videos they are amazing! best around :))) I'm buying a pair of Audeze LCD-X 2021 revised edition. Do you have ideal settings for these on the can opener plugin?

    Hi! What do you think of the Ollo Audio S4X? I'm between those and the Audeze LCD-1... Which one would be better for home studio mixing? Thank you!

    Is the Audeze Reveal + not very accurate or is there a reason you'd use your own setup like this? Also if you use can opener you're eq'ing before or after? Thanks!

      @ScanProAudioTV  3 года назад +2

      Reveal matches closer to the harman curve for listening, which has a bit more bass emphasis that we normally try to have for mixing. Also the reveal treble eq point is a sharp 24db/Oct step , which really does improve when softened.
      Plus if you have to eq to compensate slightly for Canopener you might as well use one less plugin for latency.
      Personally I’d put the eq before Canopener, so you can have the option of using the volume compensation on the output for prolonged mix sessions.

    Can you do a video on using optimal settings in Canopener for the HEDDPHONES? I literally bought the Heddphones becuase of your video but also heard you say that mixing on Heddphones doesn't translate because of the stereo image therefore you recommend using Canopener to fix his issue. Thanks

      Just use the standard mode in can opener, 60 degree angle.

    Lol I’m always waiting on your videos... nice but will you do a similar video for the LCD X?

    • @ScanProAudioTV
      @ScanProAudioTV  3 года назад +7

      Yes, LCD-X is harder as there are slight differences between models dependant on the revision of the driver used, whereas the lcd-1 drivers are all the same. Just trying to get together a few generations of LCD-X units to measure at the same time and compare.

      @@ScanProAudioTV I wouldn't mind if you choose the latest Version 2021 of the LCD-X for a great setting up for Mixing Work ;)

      @@ScanProAudioTV thank you for your great content. I heavily wish for a lcdx video too.
      For the revisions i guess the best idea is to use the lastest 2020 model (which is what I own) and another 2021 model as those are representators of two major sound evolutions that are widely spread to this date . (Mesh Grill // 2021 all new)
      As a nice benefit your work in making them perform similarly - you automatically have a close to perfect comparison video for the two revisions. Which today is still a big point of discussion in the community.

    Hi! Here you said that you explained earlier how you managed to correct the EQ curve for the Can Opener (those 700 and 1.1kHz points). Please could you point me to that video? Thanks!

  • @chrisjakob25

    Hey mate. What do you think of Sienna Reference? It's audeze lcdx smooth curve and other headphones overall corrections are way better than sonarworks. In my opinion.

    Thanks Tom! In your description above, first line should say "Low Shelf" rather than low pass.
    This Pro Q setting sounds a lot better that Reveal to me, and I never knew about the curve compensaiton on Can Opener. Fantastic vid!

      Yes, you're right, the joy of having an editor set up the videos for me! low pass would definitely be very 'interesting'

    Have you heard of dsoniq Realphones? Does a similar Job and also has an LCD-1 Profile ..
    They have a 40 Day Demo

    • @ScanProAudioTV
      @ScanProAudioTV  3 года назад +2

      Yes, it destroys the transients, absolutely useless to get the best from planar headphones. It’s like putting an attack curve on the headphones.
      The room emulation side is amazing, but you lose all the advantage of the planar drivers.

    How much better would the jump be to the LCD 2's in your opinion?

      The wooden (shedua / bamboo / rosewood): ( eg. NOT the classic or closed back) LCD-2 is one of my favourite headphones Audeze make. Although it has slightly less treble definition than LCD-X, the tonal balance is beautifully even before you start with a 'house curve' bass tilt, unlike the more linear bass in LCD-X . The difference to LCD-1 is in soundstage (perceived stereo width) and other characteristics that would be similar to what you would find between a very good small cone dsp enabled monitor (like the IK iloud MTM or Genelec 8331) and a large 3 way studio monitor. technically the frequencies exist in both, but the large monitors just have a richness quality to them.
