Shout out to the vegans that went out to these farms and slaughterhouses to film and expose the truth. I would never be able to do that. Just watching it through a screen is shocking and hard.
They also risked their lives literally - because the farmers who can treat animals like this don't want this to get out, and could get violent towards "human animals" as well... :_(
To be fair, are you sure they're all vegans? I'm as disgusted by this film as anybody else but that doesn't make me think slaughtering REAL farm raised animals and hunting is cruel. sincerely, Grew Up On A Farm
@Southy No I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that both are unnecessary and cruel because in both cases there are victims involved who aren't willing participants. Edit: I can't see my original comment anymore but I didn't delete it.
@Southy Exactly right man. That's why I said 'unnecessary'. I know I'm extremely fortunate to have access to a supermarket whenever I need but I also understand some people living in third world countries don't have that luxury. And for them it actually is necessary to eat animals to survive. Of course that's not who vegans are trying to convince to stop. But you're not in that situation, you have a choice whether you purchase animal products at the shop or not. I know it can seem like a big change but I assure you that it's much easier than you think.
@Southy India is home to the poorest of the poor in the world, but is also home of the largest vegetarian population in the planet. Your comment is a bit paternalistic.

But then watch it while eating nacho cheese or buttered popcorn or chicken wings. This contradiction is so blatant obvious and yet they are so unaware.. i was so unaware it's terrifying
except for that little goat in the slaughtering pen. While it still suffered the great loss of its mother, they went back to "steal" it. Seeing it jump around in joy made me cry.

Lack of money is an incredible motivator, especially for people providing for their families. Nevertheless, I don't think I could handle a job like that day in and day out. I have a few friends that worked for Sanderson Farms at different points, and they said the whole experience becomes disassociated over time and that kind of "PTSD" feeling can stick with you for a while. Reminds me of my grandfather who went through Vietnam, albeit to a significantly smaller degree
@@colin_deans from what the data tells us - those who have more money will buy more animal products, so I would say a lack of money isn't the motivator here. It's more wealth that allows for the ability to have larger farms and trying to scale up from what they enjoy is what I would imagine to be a motivator. You can easily make money from veganism if you try - but people like consuming animal products and raising animals - so that's how it is.

It’s all bullshit tho Dramatic scenes like horror film music, dark colour palates, and top-down camera angles played over someone stabbing a pig in the throat & watching it squirm on the ground sure makes a good film; but put 2 seconds of thoughts into it and you’ll realise it’s just a show. Like how inefficient is that system of slaughtering, you’d have to hire thousands of workers to do nothing but slaughter the animals. That’s not economical, in real life it’s automated and they electrocute the animals so they dying instantly with no struggling. Also last thing the slaughterhouse wants is the animals panicking because that makes everything more difficult & risky, like what if a pig panicked and hurts an employee. The slaughterhouse now has to pay compensation. Or if an animal were to see/hear the squeals it could panick before it’s restrained & injure itself or others. Again not good for profit. Even the nazi concentration camps understood these problems. That’s why they told the Jews they were getting a shower & gassed them after doors were locked. Same thing with poultry dying while still in the coop, or being deformed; highly dramatised. If 10% of the chicks dying before they reach the slaughterhouse or aren’t up to standard, that’s 10% of the resources put into the flock wasted. Again you really just have to follow the money to figure this out because there’s literally zero reason why a farmer would want that to happen regardless of ethics.
It takes a real toll on them psychologically. It gives a lot of them PTSD and PITS, and makes them more likely to commit violent crimes and abuse drugs. metro.co.uk/2017/12/31/how-killing-animals-everyday-leaves-slaughterhouse-workers-traumatised-7175087

They probably aren't bad people, just conditioned and normalised to the violence. Their job is literally to stab animals every day, which is gonna have an enormous toll on their psyche. The only reason they are in the job in the first place is due to consumer demand. Stop paying for animals to be in these slaughterhouses and eventually, this will end.
I cannot agree with the logic that since there is a demand, they do the job. That’s just like saying abortionist “do their jobs” because there is a population who has made the decision to abort “so I gotta do it!” Well imo, these jobs are for the morally corrupted
@@junegemmuahh6847 I have a proposition for you. Do you know who Charles Manson is? He was a serial killer that led a cult following in the 60s and he ordered his "minions' to commit murders on his behalf. He was charged with first degree murder in court because he called the shots. Now in the context of eating animal corpses, is the consumer not somewhat responsible or equally responsible for the death of the animal as the individual in the abattoir killing animals? Why or why not? Consumer demand drives a need for a job to be filled. It is just how the world works. Folks can be in horrible places financially and sometimes their place in life lands them in an abattoir. They are somewhat disconnected from their empathy/compassion due to life circumstances, so a job is a job. Consumers drive the need for someone to fill these jobs, including you.

@skyhigh315 I agree. Everyone in this system eventually becomes a victim, from the animals, to the planet/environment, to the slaughterhouse workers, to the meat eaters (paying with poor health as consequences). The whole cycle creates a closed loop of victimhood, and no one actually wins. It's just dark and is fed on this addiction to violence and ignorance. The source of this comes from our hard earned money that pays for this whole system to support the desire for a few moments of pleasure eating meat (which won't fill the gaping void we have within ourselves searching for true happiness). I've been using my paycheck to support this violence and I can't do it anymore. I've been living in the dark of ignorance all this time and deliberately turned a blind eye by eating meat even though in the back of my mind I knew it was wrong. And all this violence for what? So I can be a slave to my desires for pleasure of taste. It's an all rounded slavery system. How I spend my money- that's the chain in the link that can be broken. I have to use my money to support vegan, as activism, instead of this atrocity.
catherine luttinger Yeah it’s not about the job, that’s why I said I “understand why they’re there” what I do not understand is the additional abuse to the animals. (Additional means added or extra) That’s not part of the job. Edit: guess you retracted your statement?

i went into this thinking "if you're going to eat meat, educate yourself on how exactly that meat makes it to your plate" and i'm walking away with a new lifestyle choice. The hardest, cruelest, and realist video i've ever watched.
the most terrifying thing is that what I learned as a child was that it‘s something completely normal to eat animals / as a child I never thought about this, that the animals are suffering that much and also are getting fed with lots of antibiotics etc. so at the end of the day, what most of us are supporting on a daily basis is not good for anyone, the animals, the plantet or for our own physical health I know that our generation can do it better, because now we know more and we have the power to choose / we should raise our children in a better way (for everyone of us)
I can never tell if vegans are ignorant, idealist, or just stupid. People eating meat is not wrong. You are not making some kind of morally better choice by not eating meat. The only reason things like this happens is because government failed us because people generally want the lowest possible price for food. Hence why big vertically integrated corporations popped up. Small farms are not like this in anyway. If you want real change regulations need to be put in place and enforced because humans are not gunna change their diet. Food is deeply woven into our culture and many dishes have meat. Byproducts of animals are also regularly used in other products.
Kody Keister have you ever watched a animal documentary?? Or watch cimpanzee attacks human. We arent better than cimpanzees Nature is cruel but thats the way it is. Your religious believes dont apply to nature. A lot of what we think of nasty stuff happens in nature. Nowadays we are just so removed from the way nature works and full of religious beliefs of good end evil which is bullshit and manmade. And this unforgiving nature is in everybody. Sadly most people deny this but everybody could become like a nazi in ausschwitz or could eat a human if they are pushed.
Something to note. Human efficiency is above giving rights to animals that will die shortly after anyways. Why should we waste resources on animals that do not express gratitude towards us? Humans are the apex predator on this planet for a reason. We shouldn’t soften ourselves and give other species luxuries. Others do not, why should we? Because we have are smarter? The smarter thing to do would be to maximize efficient so we don’t have starvation, so we don’t have an ounce of pork costing 20$. It may be grim but it is the most efficient way of producing food.
lempgmpwmpmf mepntonspmpd i know it can seem hard to change something you have been eating all your life ! and change your point of views so quickly but if you really don’t care about the animals think about your own health ! Even the meat produced and sold isn’t healthy for a average human due to the fact that it is very much saturated.
if everyone went vegan humans would go extinct because would destroy animals food source and replace it with our own. The estimated population of the world in 2050 is 9.7 billion. Our soil wouldnt have a chance to rest and eventually we will die off because we will have no choice but to use up all of our food source. Not to mention the vitamin deficiencies and that fortified foods and supplements are bad for u.
Zain Ahmed actually no we feed 70% of the crops we grow to animals. also cows weigh 1000 pounds and need a lot of food. while humans weigh 160 pounds and don’t eat that much food
@@jumpy5064 a lot of the food we give to animals is the food we grow for ourselves but comes out wrong and is inedible or undesirable for humans. 86 percent of the food we give to livestock is inedible for humans. If erased farm animals from the picture aside from the fact that we would lose land because a lot of land is only suitable for animals and that there are nowhere near as many cows as there are humans and that that food isnt edible for humans. But even if it was we would have enough to feed 3.5 billion people. But because the human population is increasing so rapidly in less than 60 years that food wouldnt matter. Also it takes a year to grow and lacks nutrients that animals have while if we eat both then one animals are available to us at all times and we also give plants and animals time to reproduce and regrow
No They are not, bt We are maniacs, We are demons, we are cannibals They are doing just bcz We wanted them to do it, We use dairy products, We use animal products, We want entertainment, If we stop using/doing dis eventually They will stop doing dis all
@sin Not realy i have relatives that own a pig farm here in the Netherlands, if you hold animals in these conditions overehere you will have to close up shop and apear in court. The government permanently has officers (who are trained vets) in slaughterhouses to make sure there is no abuse either. I fully agree these people are maniacs but i doubt this is the standard.
I've been living with my vegan friends for the past two months. I've been doing vegan eating but I would still eat meat and stuff but only in my car because I promised them I wouldn't bring any animal products into their home. They suggested this to me a month ago and I'm just now getting to it. With that being said, this has been the most devastating and heartbreaking documentary I have ever seen. This is just food processing concentration camps. I wasn't even past the pig segment and I've been crying. I can't do this anymore morally. I can't eat meat or do dairy and any other animal products. I had no idea of the brutality and cruelty that went on in these places. One person alone can't make a huge change, but I now refuse to contribute to this evil any longer. On a lighter note: I recently discovered how damn good oat milk is lol
Funny how vegans cannot see this is propaganda. The issue here is the lack of empathy for animals in the industry. Going vegan is more destructive than eating only meat.

You want universal human rights but you can't differentiate animals from humans in a way that if true of humans would justify killing humans "healthily", so it's a double standard.
Animal rights are a direct logical extension of basic human rights.

You can easily make money from veganism if you try - but people like consuming animal products and raising animals - so that's how it is.

It’s all bullshit tho
Dramatic scenes like horror film music, dark colour palates, and top-down camera angles played over someone stabbing a pig in the throat & watching it squirm on the ground sure makes a good film; but put 2 seconds of thoughts into it and you’ll realise it’s just a show.

I would always think how that poor animal went through all of that horrible suffering for no reason. Just to be tossed in the trash. It’s too easy for people to turn a blind eye. But if it were their pet dog going through this- somehow a completely different story? More people need to see this.
I'm 11 minutes into the video, I didn't expect these "farms" to be this brutal. These are literal torture chambers. When I saw the workers kick and throw the piglets around, it ramped up my rage in seconds. By their movements it sometimes looks like they're taking their anger out on them. What type of mental turmoil has to be going on in these workers’ minds that allows them to mercilessly participate in this work. I’m not even vegetarian and this is beyond my comprehension.
The scourge of the earth...the violent wretched. Let’s just call it what it is instead of chalking it up to demand.

You get an opportunity to change how you feel after every meal right before every meal. Have another crack at doing it more compassionately at lunch and dinner & every meal afterwards 😁

Not that I understand how someone could do any of this, but the ADDED abuse?? Wouldn’t you have to be a sociopath???
Scum are drawn to this like moths to a flame really
Think about this though: the real sociopaths are the people that PAY for those people to have jobs and do what they do.
@skyhigh315 don't generalize, I'd like to work at a slaughterhouse
catherine luttinger
Yeah it’s not about the job, that’s why I said I “understand why they’re there” what I do not understand is the additional abuse to the animals.
(Additional means added or extra)
That’s not part of the job.
Edit: guess you retracted your statement?
Considering 1. how much food is wasted and 2. how much over-consumption of food exists, at least half of the suffering in this film was preventable for absolutely no investment.

Hey, how is it going being vegan? Awesome decision :) Tell me, if you need any help!
You can feel sick and still realize that its just a shallow piece of propaganda.
@@AliothAncalagon, why is it (bad) propaganda, if it's the simple truth?
@@pipapo3030 Well first off the Vegans are using it as propaganda more than it actually is, because they try to get the lie into your head that veganism is going to fix any of this.
And secondly, if your "simply truth" is heavily relying on nothing but emotional pictures instead of delivering actual facts, it quickly goes into the propaganda direction.
@@AliothAncalagon , the living beings seen in this footage are literally killed because we pay for it. If we don't pay for it anymore, it's not happening anymore. Supply and demand. So yes, veganism can fix all this! And of course, these pictures are emotional, but please don't deny the facts showing the destruction of the environment through animal agriculture. It doesn't get much more factual.

Try again.
You're only reinforcing my point by defend cruelty to animals.
the most terrifying thing is that what I learned as a child was that it‘s something completely normal to eat animals / as a child I never thought about this, that the animals are suffering that much and also are getting fed with lots of antibiotics etc.
so at the end of the day, what most of us are supporting on a daily basis is not good for anyone, the animals, the plantet or for our own physical health
I know that our generation can do it better, because now we know more and we have the power to choose / we should raise our children in a better way (for everyone of us)
I "choose" to continue eating meat like a normal healthy person, cheers lol
I to, choose to life my life the way "mother nature" (as they call it) intended.
@Bio pretty sure don’t know what Mother Nature intends. I’m almost positive it doesn’t intend the abuse, cruelty, and suffering of other species!
Thank you for this movie. I will share wherever possible.
This is the hardest thing I've ever witnessed
Rhysand's High Lady are you thinking about going vegan?
ClemsterCat no
Eternal Soul and no
Something to note.
I‘m vegetarian since last spring now and I‘m trying to get vegan. Never had such a big priority in life
You can do it!
went straight to veganism on monday. i feel great and i love not harming animals
if everyone went vegan humans would go extinct because would destroy animals food source and replace it with our own.
