I do think it's possible for the Need for Speed series to have a good progression system that caters to fans of all (or most) car types. The closest we got to that kind of progression system was in Most Wanted 2005 and that game had the benefit of pink slips to help with the progression (yes, I do think abusing the reward card pattern is a gameplay mechanic). Underground 1 is the only other game I can think of with a similarly good progression and that's entirely because of the fact that players could only use one car so they would simply trade cars and carry over the upgrades from the previous car with little money spent (or money received as rebates) and that helped keep the races interesting since you were basically driving over the same tracks over and over again (expecting shit to change. Now that is crazy). Carbon could have had a good progression similar to Most Wanted 2005 if the game had more opportunities for pink slips and the money awarded for completing races on repeats stayed the same instead of being reduced to just $500. Carbon would have benefitted from having mini bosses in the form of other crew members from different crews. They definitely should have let players race against other members of each crew in canyon duels and then give players the chance to win that crew member's car through a pink slip.
Oh boy, here we go again with another masterpiece. Loving the clips with cars and/or maps from the games that Eden is refering to, the pacing, the messing arround with the cops, and much more (i'll go back and edit this comment with more stuff that i liked). Congrats team

Ah i remember finishing this game using only 3 cars. I started with the e30 (i remember making it in the app first then shared the livery when the game came out, last i checked a long time ago it had about 150 downloads which i was proud of) until i unlocked the r34. The r34 was my main car for the entire game, i converted the e30 into a drift car and bought the classic mustang for offroad, which i spent maybe 30 minutes making a police livery on it then proceeded to spend nearly as much time vandalizing it with dirt, rust, and grafitti, probably my proudest work for some reason.
Dustin every 5 minutes: "I'd be surprised if *anyone* came in here and say that he likes this car" Me: haha yeah totally haha who would like this? certainly not ME haha
Holy damn Eden, the editing on this is top-notch! Also, got me popping on having Dudley's theme in SF3 Third Strike at the start (hell, the SF3 Third Strike OST). Good shit! Also, honestly while I haven't finished neither Heat nor Unbound yet, your approach to it in this video was what I felt like going for when I was playing it. Down to actually picking a Civic for the stereotyping jokes (but I like the Civics in Heat at least lol). EDIT: YESSSSSSSSSSS YOU GOT THE CIVIC HAHAHAHA
I honestly couldn't believe how short the fight with Shaw was. I was expecting it to last somewhat longer. The fact he never came back was just shocking.
the rx7 is my favorite car and out of the 3 ghost games it was actually enjoyable to race in NFS Heat. Even gave it the forged rotary for the lategame. Too bad Ghost never gave it new body options.
Bro, RX7 is so far from rice. Doyou have any Idea how hard they are to get, how difficult they are to maintain and the amount of skill needed to drive one properly? lol. An RX7 is not in any capacity a wannabe scene Kid car.
IRL its a 100% possible to dominate with a ricer because everyone knows that flame decals make you go faster. Also Japanese trash? Y'all use to be so close.
I assume it’s because of the Modern NFS games(2015, Payback, Heat, and Unbound) it’s the “Fan Favorite”. That’s not to say it doesn’t get hate because it does but Heat definitely is the least controversial of the four.
did you know that test drive unlimited in ps2 or psp has remastered version called test drive unlimited platinum,its just awesome,more new cars,realistic graphic + cockpit view
"Ricer" is more of a meme instead of an actual insult now. Some ricer mods are coming back and holy might some pull it off really good, and in countries where rice is basically the main recipe of local car culture, there is no avoidance, you can only accept and appreciate the work and effort put into them.
The lack of cars to have available from the get-go after the "tutorial" made me think about the Speedrun, {this is what was on my mind and made a story so good it could almost fill up a TV show or even possible a Movie}
Finally I found a comment that acknowledged this flawed logic. While yes, the M3 isn’t necessarily a “ricer car” neither should the 180SX by his logic(although the 180SX is cheaper so it arguably fits “better”). Which by the way just to preface, this is Need for Speed so if you want to use certain types of cars for a challenge like this you do have to make exceptions. Like using the M3 E30 as the “low end” BMW or the 180SX as the S13 model of choice. Since while yes in reality these cars aren’t cheap irl they are considered low end with Need for Speed’s in game economy. Not to mention with Need for Speed’s customization you can always make a car like the E30 look “lower end” which would be interesting to kinda see. So yeah if Eden does this challenge again with another NFS game I hope he takes this into consideration.
@Sparkcore275 ahaha yeah, I only go by this logic because IRL I own an S15 Spec R and a Type X. Hearing him cherry pick the 180 as a "ricer" in comparison to the E30 icked me a little but it does make sense in terms of the history of the car(s) but nowadays in reality, I myself and can only assume other people try to keep their JDM cars as OEM as possible for a clean look. Also they're all so financially detrimenting to even consider ricing up these days.
@@hnnngv all in all I don’t think it was a bad idea but cherry picking is a bit obnoxious if you are looking at from a real world view. Since like you said you’re applying real world logic so ricing either car is a bit, odd. With need for speed and it being a video game with a select group of cars it does make sense if you don’t cherry pick. Also if you make it clear that when you pick a car you’re at it as if it was a base model and customize it look lower end it can work since again it’s a video game.
When i played this game I just used the 180sx the whole time just upgrading stuff. I did use other cars for specific mission types like drift or whatever but the 180 was what i used for anything i could.
