Absolutely correct 👍🏼. Keep sharing the truth. I got it and I am upset about the electronics and the lack of performance parts that should have come with this truck. 😤 drives great however, I've only driven it 3 times and broke the infamous wing support brace. This truck isn't made for xtreme sending least you brake that flimsy brace. Traxxas is turning me off on there products. And they are banking on customer loyalty to keep them a float. I've had to replace the factory esc and the new one is acting up as well. I have the light kit but it serves me no purpose if I need the factory esc to get all the functions. Traxxas cars have emotionally, psychologically and financially scarred me. Something needs to be done. And I think it's proprietary systems need to go away.
Yet to watch this video but just saying old mate Talbot has tried 2/3 different supposedly 'tougher" custom wing braces and they all broke. Seems like a real weak point.
@axlisback99 I realize it's the wheelie bar handle position is that it's to near the ground. After a large enough jump the rear bottoms out and pushes upward on the wheelie bar connected to that weak brace snaps it. I'm currently riding without it.
Vas, thanks for making this video. Appreciate your honest opinions and great skill in making videos. Your one the best in my opinion. Great job and well done, I've always enjoyed your setup. Enjoy the rest your week! 🙏❤️🙂
Cool video! Agree with a lot of what you said. Will say, in the US the XRT and X-maxx are both $1000, Kraton 8s is $970, and the DBXL-e 2.0 is $1200. Maybe people in Australia that buy the XRT are doing it just for the Traxxas name, but at least in the US people have good reasons for choosing the XRT over some of the other 1/5 scale 8s trucks on the market. From what I've seen so far, the truck drives nice and holds together pretty well overall, so I think it makes it pretty competitive on the US market. As for the plastic links, I haven't seen anyone break one yet, but some people have had the bellcranks fail from really extreme bashing... ridiculously high jumps and hard landings. I have however had a handful of steel links bend and shear on me on several different trucks. just yesterday I broke a turnbuckle on my Kraton 6s. Wasn't really the trucks fault, I clipped a pole, however I'm not sure if the plastic link would have broken. It can at least flex a bit more, so it may have been able to soak up the impact better. Of course, enough bad hits will kill anything, and I don't really have a way to test it, but will be interesting to see if they give you any issues. Guess we'll see how it does in the running videos. Only other thing is with the battery trays. I realize they aren't designed well for fitting every size and shape of battery, however all the Traxxas RCs I've had were able to fit pretty standard size batteries with little to no modification. I actually like them because even though they aren't as versatile as something like velcro straps, they are way faster and easier to use in my opinion. Just slide in the battery, put the battery bar over it, and snap it in or put in the body clip to hold it. Just find that trucks with other battery tray setups tend to take quite a bit longer to properly secure the batteries. Would have been great if Traxxas provided some extra foam spacers though, especially for how much that truck costs in your area.
Thanks for an honest review instead of the typical T homers. Curious to see how it does. Its T, they will never fix anything they can overcharge you for so don't worry about that.
That's the exact reason why I don't buy any of Traxxis cars. Because what u pay for is not worth it to me. Ide much rather by a ARRMA outcast v2 4s and put all of that extra money into the outcast. But it depends on the person who is buying it.
Just checked and they sell for the identical amount here in the UK as well 🤪🤔. In the US it sells through Traxxas at $999.99 which works out at 1,453.69 AUD or £830.28 GBP
I've driven one a few times and and the steering servo is slow and weak (like all rtrs). The suspension is amazing and you can full throttle over anything. I like more scale driving but there is something to bashing a big rig like this!
here in the states its 1100$ after taxes and shipping. Plastic crap and cutting corners is Traxxas MO - Losi has a dbxle which is a TRUE 1/5 scale and it costs less money. simple is as simple does - tyvm for another classic VAS review. Dead on with the review.
@JID Just keep in mind that Traxxas does not call the Xrt 1/5 scale. Only confused youtubers and misinformed individuals do that, maybe because of Arrma's false advertising.
Excellent review Vas. I'll state one thing though, I'm not brand loyal. I have a few of lots of brands though Arrma and T-Brand feature strongly. The price is eye watering, though T-Brand parts are much cheaper than Arrma's. As a long term X-Maxx 8s owner I personally can't wait to get my hands on the XRT. Plastics don't worry me, I've sprayed all the bits in WD40 and the flex is insane... clipping a gutter my front lower arm flexed and ejected the pin.. no breaks.. Blown away!!! I funnily enough never had an issue with the servo or ESC.. set steering end points at the beginning 3 years on still have the stock servo, and use top quality LiPos and the ESC seemed to be fine. I changed it over for a Max6 a few months ago, and it's woken the truck up nicely. You'd know all of this. Love the X-Maxx..fave truck. There are known weak spots with the XRT, rear wing support, steering bellcrank and of course the pinion and spur. Even so I'll definitely get one regardless..Max 6 sitting here waiting for it.... Plus I have plenty stocks of high density foam for those battery trays lol. Can't wait till you take it out for a bash mate!
Thanks Steve. I think this truck will do well overseas, but eventually the loyal customer well will run dry here and people will look elsewhere to spend their $2100. And I don't think the dollar amount is the issue, it's what you get vs what you pay - the value. Then there's the competition selling a similar or better product for less. If this offered more outta the box, then the dollars wouldn't matter as much.
It's fairly sad that you have to pay over $1100 for something that you'll have to completely part out, unless you want it to self-destruct on a hard send. I bought one as a roller & now it's sitting in a corner along with the guts of an X-Maxx as a long term upgrade project. I'll probably do both at the same time since decent gears finally exist that will last more than a few packs. Of course, I slapped the thing together in a few minutes. All I did was drop in a hardened steel spur, pinion, stock Kraton 8s motor w/ a max6, no-name motor mount, & Backflip tires. Almost straight away I broke the wing brace trying to get a feel for it, then broke the bellcrank (which have very limited aftermarket options).
For all those commenting on the price, keep in mind that's Australian dollars. 2100 Australian dollars converts to $1462 US dollars as of today...so that's close to $500 US above what we pay here in the US. I'm sure shipping isn't super cheap and of course there are probably more middlemen/distributors that need to be paid, but ouch!
Don't forget that all that math is based off your retail price. The distributor doesn't buy these at retail from the USA, they buy them at cost, sell them to the shops at wholesale and then the 2100 is retail. So the gap between our retail price and the cost of the car is gigantic. And that's the issue.
Nice looking truck Vas but the price is crazy. Traxxas should have sent it to you. Most of us buy rcs after we see your reviews and the running. I only buy them if Vas reviews them , then I know what to expect and end up with a beast of a machine. For the price I agree it should come with everything and fix the spur gear. Great review again mate.
I have respect for the handling and durability... But I won't buy plastic for that price... Big and beautiful and petrol is the way I like my 5th scales... But if it has to be a huge electric, then I want metal and bling!
You were spot on with everything on your wish list and yes, I would start with the gears and the body. The body is weak. I’ve already trashed my first body, and now I have to prepare my next body to last longer than my first body. The gears is made of monkey metal garbage and they don’t last. My advice would be to upgrade everyevery gear in the car.
I never sugarcoat anything. Good job on you Vas this model is to expensive and the bellcrank did you mention that. A new owner just got his XRT and his bellcrank is already gone 🤷♂️one day of fun and that’s it for him. I personally choose via after the release rush is gone by and reports come out 🤘😎
Joined the dark side again Vas 😉😂 really looking forward to seeing your take on this beast it certainly looks very tempting even with the hefty price tag!
🤯🤯😱$2,100!!! WTF!?!?! They are only $1,200 in the states! Something sounds very wrong here! Edit: *When I say ONLY, AH HA!, this is stiiiiiillllll obscenely overpriced! Thanks Traxxas*
Hi Vas, I am very happy to see a Traxxas on your channel. Just to see how it compares to other brands in your opinion. I am not a Traxxas guy but this truck looks A LOT of fun. Do you have already a hardened spur for backup? The original one will break the first or second session for sure.
Thanks 👍. I don't have any spares of any kind for anything Traxxas as I don't own any of their products, so I'll have to get myself some bits as I go. I'm really hoping it's not as fragile as some people have said... 😬
I love my XRT. It's way better than the Xmaxx in many ways out of the box. I blew up the stock motor, so now I went with the XLX2 and 1100kv 5687 HW motor. 30/47 gearing. I'll try it out today. I really prefer the truggies due to how stable and bashable they are.
Completely agree with the price point here in Australia vas, someone is definitely pocketing a lot of change! even Arrma parts do not match the dollar value, I’ve spent over 2k in 2 months on parts for two cars that are worth that exactly lol we are getting dated 🤣👍
Can I please ask. My mind is going crazy over trying to pick a truck. Out of all honesty, I know you have driven these, what is the better Traxxas? the E revo 6S the Maxx with wide body maxx or the Sledge? At the moment I also have the option to buy a Used Traxxas Xmaxx 1/5 scale which is cheap as the others I mentioned. Just need some guidance as I haven’t driven any of them. Please what’s your honest thoughts on the above trucks I mentioned?
Traxxas are greedy fools not to recognize how much money they'd make if they just sent you one of every model release. Their pride is the company's enemy and potential downfall. NO ONE does better reviews than you Vas and YOU have brought so many of us back into the hobby. Arrma should've never went stupid either and they had it right sending them to you in the beginning. I sincerely believe they succeeded because YOU helped get them out there with your excellent reviews at their most critical time in that company's life and your channel was undisputed #1 at that time( still are IMO)! Greedy Fools!
Traxxas are essentially in my opinion the Apple of the RC world, hideously over price and are all about hype and marketing… what you see in their videos are vehicles being stretched to their absolute limits in the way of battery power, gearing, nitro content etc (the list goes on) and that is what they base the performance of their vehicles off of… if you buy an xmaxx, I’m sorry but even with the included “50mph” gearing, without the correct know how and running the risk of something going bang.. you will not be achieving what the box says
Just like the Arrmas and Xmaxx, this is absolutely not 1/5 scale. The difference is Traxxas doesn't lie about it. And even though Traxxas never ever put a scale on the Xmaxx, Horizon called it 1/6 before they stopped selling it.
$2100 for a plastic car I would never own a T-Brand car. Overpriced garbage no where near worth the money Your reviews are the best mate Vas keep up the great work
Price is a shocker, we are being punished for living in Oz Or NZ . I believe it’s cheaper to by abroad and pay import fees, going to check it out . I like the look and the construction, believe the bumper and rear wing will hold up better than you expect. It is similar on my Revo ,I’ve never Brocken one . Great review as always Vas , looking forward to seeing it . Thanks for sharing.
Great review. Agree with your points. Traxxas being all proprietary about their gear is a joke and just predatory, as is the pricing of these things. I bought my Xmaxx brand new in 2020 (I think?) for $1300aud. I have an Xmaxx already so I don't need to get one of these, and tbh I reckon I'd go for a 6s Kraton anyways.
Man, im not a traxxas fan at all. For what you pay theyre average. However, aftermarket parts are everywhere and that makes things better. So my kid has a bigfoot 2wd with a 3s brushless setup. I have a tastefully modified traxxas slash (mainly suspension stuff and gears), also i have a maxx. That thing has all the parts in it, 6s power, sensors and crap like gps. Tops out at 147kmh but i want to gear it back as its not practical gearing for bashing. Also belted tyres arent the best for bashing, however dont explode on speed runs.
Surely since November of last year you have watched some videos on the XRT. These stock tires are s***. If you're going to buy from Traxxas make sure it's at least 8S rated, I suggest the sledgehammers.
I think I've seen about 2 or 3 videos on this truck, that's it. Haven't really been following any of the issues it apparently has or anything like that. Basically going into this blind. If I upgrade the tyres, I'd rather go with aftermarket as the Traxxas tyres here are far too expensive for what they are, so I'd rather go with Louise or Jetko tyres. Proline are great too, but again, Proline prices are getting out of hand these past couple of years, especially for cars this big.
This is a rare occasion and I'm willing to bet it won't be the last. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to review this truck and give my opinion on it. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. 👍
Been eyeing of this xrt for a while cause I've been wanting to get something bigger but the price is a big turn of $2.1k for a rc is definitely a hard pill to swallow the prices atm in aus are ludicrous make's me want to just sell my two slash's and go enjoy other hobby's anyhow's looking forward to the run in video 👍.
I loved ur videos a lot more when the camera was zoomed out more and the things u trying to show has a separate scene and without the cut out scenes like “features” or “wish list”. Ur old format of videos were gold imo
Traxxas builds their cars to sell parts made by traxxas which are uber high dollar. These are selling in the US for 999 and are still overpriced at that.
Traxxas flat out sucks lol Mine I bought as a slider on ebay from one of the "chop shops". I put a max 6 esc with a stock motor from jennys that's geared up a bit, and a perfect pass servo. This is the only way it makes sense, I have about 1200 invested (US). It's my best car at the moment
Wish we had the option to buy them as rollers or sliders here as well, but that's a luxury we don't have access to. Of course, we can import them, but shipping costs kills the deal pretty quick and whatever money is saved won't be much. You're better off buying RTR and selling what you don't want before you use it.
You probably would have been better off selling the parts you didn't want yourself rather than just buying a roller. I know I usually end up with a better deal that way.
Look, Traxxas make good vehicles, but i can't get excited about proprietary tire locking systems and propriety battery compartments designed to force you into buying only Traxxas crap. It's like Apple: they want to be your main sugar daddy and you can't have any hoes on the side. That's not how i roll.
How can you even say that I'd much much rather spend 1000 bucks on a xrt. Than an aroma for 200 less and have it break the first time you use it then have to spend more money than what the truck cost just so it don't break on the first little tiny jump better just buying all the aftermarket parts because by the time the arrma truck is any good there's nothing aroma left and that's the truth
LoL. Am I supposed to be a fan? Is that the criteria when you buy Traxxas - you have to be a fan? I can't look at the car objectively and critique it? I just have to like everything about it, is that it? 😏
so now you do also present t-brand proprietay shit. There is not only one downside with t-brand there are several. Not to speak of that it looks like a kraton copy. ANd constantly everything is out of plastic. Pretty disappointed of you. Video is superb as always.
It's very obvious you do not like Traxxas man. I don't know why, there vehicles are bar none some of the best on the market. That's very proven. Anyways like you that's only my opinion of course. My big question for you is the price?? You said $2100?? Is that true there? In the USA there $950 dollars so I'm curious.
No, I don't like Traxxas, but don't translate that to me not liking their cars. I mean, yeah, they have some cars/trucks I wouldn't touch even if they were given to me, but my gripe with them is not their products, it's the people running the company and how they conduct themselves in the industry. Yes, the XRT and X-Maxx both retail here for $2099aud, which is stupid expensive. Most, if not all of the Traxxas cars available here are all expensive and/or overpriced compared to the competition. And it's only gotten worse over the last couple of years. The X-Maxx used to worth less than the Kraton 8S, then it went up to the same price and now it's about $500 more. Why? I have no clue...
@@AussieRCPlayground Yeah the price alone is absolutely ridiculous. I don't own the XRT because I believe 1000 dollars is too much. I live in McKinney, Texas which is where Traxxas is located. There facility is huge. The one thing I do really like a out then is there customer service and power up program. Any electronics break and they will swap it out for $100 buck's no questions asked. That alone is well worth the additional cost in my opinion. But for the price to be more then double for you guys over there is flat out wrong. I'm curious how they justify that additional cost. Anyways Love your your channel bro, keep up the good work man.
Thank you. 🙂 That's the other thing, too, we don't get the service and options you guys get over there. So all that Power Up program and lifetime warranty doesn't apply here. We get a 30 day warranty on the electrics from date of purchase. That's it. So when you take that into account and look at the price, you'll start to see why the narrative of the video is to call them out for being so expensive here.
@@AussieRCPlayground I see that now and completely agree with you, those would be really tough obstacles to over come if I were in your shoe as well. Maybe some day they will open there eyes because believe it or not there are some really good people that work there, just not any that has the power to fix those issues. Not yet anyways but soon I'm betting. 🙂
With the 50mph gearing and with good 7800mAh lipos (not the traxxas rubbish) I could only get my xmaxx up to 37mph. When I first unboxed it I had to go over every nut and bolt on the thing because I found 4 that were noticeably loose, the first skate ramp I drove up I busted a bell crank (broke about 10 after), it went through 2 ESCs, a diff… list goes on!… I’ve Since sold it and bought a Kraton 8s.. better bang for your buck, stronger, more reliable and actually performs according to the claims with very few adjustments.
Boy sounds like a lot of whining over not liking Traxxas, that's fine I understand. I have both arrmas and Traxxas and I modd all my rc's to my liking. Anyways that's my rant. Had to say my piece after watching this video, hope you'll change your mind but I doubt it after listening to you.
Whining, really? 😂 So, I'm not allowed to critique the car and its pricing here in Australia because it doesn't match your feelings? I'm sure you'd think differently if we paid a grand for this car and you paid more than double. Then we get an extended warranty while you get 30 days. Not to mention we get the car straight after release, but you have to wait 5-6 months. But I do find it funny how you only mentioned me "whining" about the car but conveniently forgot to mention the positives I talked about during the video. No worries, Jose, I understand. Thanks for stopping by. 😁👍
You didn't upset me, it's ok. I don't mind being challenged as long as it's fair. I've had many Traxxas vehicles before, I worked in a hobby shop for 5 years and know what to expect from these cars. Although this is a new platform, it's cut from the same Traxxas cloth, so I know I'm not being unfair in the things I said. I might find out I'm wrong once I test it, but I'm not being unfair.
Traxxas vehicles are overpriced junk with crap metal gears and flimsy plastics along with all the proprietary systems they always use such as the battery tray system that mostly fits their batteries. They always show on the box what speed the cars can do but in the fine print, it states that you need to change the gearing before it will even get close to those speeds, and some of the gears that are needed they do not even sell for some of the models. No wonder there are aftermarket parts manufacturers that are making better and stronger parts for them and if you really want to bash the cars like they say you can why is it that you should change out the parts before you can actually bash them so it does not break on the first or second crash.
Not all their cars are "junk", they're not perfect, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that about ALL their cars. Yes, some are outdated junk that shouldn't even be on the shelves today, but not all. However, are they overpriced?? 100%, yes!! Maybe not in some parts of the world, but they are WAY overpriced in this country and definitely not worth the money.
Absolutely correct 👍🏼. Keep sharing the truth. I got it and I am upset about the electronics and the lack of performance parts that should have come with this truck. 😤 drives great however, I've only driven it 3 times and broke the infamous wing support brace. Should've bought the sledge that things fast and tough
I feel the same about Losi
its done on purpose. They sell the hardened gears separately after costing ur arm to buy their expensive rc.
That’s traxxas for you! Over priced, over estimated and overrated
Great video. Traxxas is crazy as hell charging $1100’on this plastic car with trash gears.. They are insane
Traxxas knows what they are doing. Absolutely. Also this car has sold like hotcakes for the past three-and-a-half months

Closed ecosystems suck dinosaur dong. Tires and batteries cost enough, I'm not getting stuck into buying only Traxxas spares.

I personally choose via after the release rush is gone by and reports come out 🤘😎
I can see the pineapples floating away when you pulled it out of the box😮
@@rcmonkey6304 Australian slang
Love what you do brother! Great as always.
I’m getting that one. I want that XRT blue truck. Or wait a minute, I already got one. I got velocity orange
Oh right new videos xrt Traxxas to day good job 👏👍
Traxxas are greedy fools not to recognize how much money they'd make if they just sent you one of every model release. Their pride is the company's enemy and potential downfall. NO ONE does better reviews than you Vas and YOU have brought so many of us back into the hobby. Arrma should've never went stupid either and they had it right sending them to you in the beginning. I sincerely believe they succeeded because YOU helped get them out there with your excellent reviews at their most critical time in that company's life and your channel was undisputed #1 at that time( still are IMO)! Greedy Fools!
You're far too kind, Mike, thank you. 🤜🤛
Overpriced garbage no where near worth the money
Your reviews are the best mate Vas keep up the great work
Thank you. 🙂👍
It's a hell of a lot cheaper to get Arrma parts from Jenniesrc than pay the absurd markup here.
Thanks Alan. Yeah, I'm sure someone, somewhere is making bank on these prices. It just doesn't make sense...
Wow it doesn't come with link... that's to bad. Seems like for the price it would. Is a cool looking truck
Great video Vas. Definitely some piss taking here with the Aussie price.
WiFi modul? Thought they had Bluetooth modul in the tqi radio.
My apologies, you're right. I didn't even realise I'd said WiFi until you mentioned it. I meant to say Bluetooth.
Rc Guy Garage has a wing mount that will work pretty much 99.9 percent chance it will fix your XRT
I agree with everything that you said great video
Great review as always bud. Keep up the good work 👍
They sell it as a 1/6 in Norway. And K8 as 1/5.
Happy I just own a typhon 6s
Omg that's so cool what does it cost over here in the UK any idea let me know later after the video mate 😀😄
Vas, the traxxas fanboy 😂👏😇
Wow, surprised to see the T brand on the channel 👀
This is a rare occasion and I'm willing to bet it won't be the last. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to review this truck and give my opinion on it. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by. 👍
Nice Unboxing
We are well and truly getting ripped of here in Australia
It appeals More to me a zd racing dbx-07 than this, even if most people would probably think zd racing Is crap
Not so long ago, the X Maxx 8s was $1450 in local hobby shops. Now there 2k?
Yup.
Im staring at a brand new sledge. Traxxas batteries and charger are a week away.
Just go with the Kraton 8S and save $600. Or buy a Losi and get a proper HEAVY DUTY RC for similar money.
I loved ur videos a lot more when the camera was zoomed out more and the things u trying to show has a separate scene and without the cut out scenes like “features” or “wish list”. Ur old format of videos were gold imo
Unfortunately this house doesn't cater for that style of video and I have to do it differently. Plus, who wants to look at my fat head, anyway? 😏
@@AussieRCPlayground we all kinda have a fat head! 🤔🤣😂
@@dfireballwow so what you're saying is I need to buy a wide angle lens. I see you, dude, I'm picking up what you're putting down. 👀😂
@@AussieRCPlayground I guess I kinda agree with him. You're and many others options seem more factual seeing someone's face.
im a pensioner something like this way out of my price been watching alot of your videos some where filmed not far from me your videos are great
Thank you. 🙂
This one or kraton???
Don't mind missing the box slap on this vid can't drive rc's with a broken wrist 🤣🤣
The only problem I have with arrma is that word I hate when people lay down hard earned money. DISCONTINUED no longer available or produced
$2100 for an All Plastic truck, as always ridiculous pricing by Traxxas.
only $1349 here in canada same with xmax
Traxxas builds their cars to sell parts made by traxxas which are uber high dollar. These are selling in the US for 999 and are still overpriced at that.
Yeah and their metal/hardened gears aren’t even good quality.. it’s just monkey metal
Prices in Australia are high
The final insult is the Poms and Americans whinging about how expensive it is, and they are only paying around $1000 for XRT.
He'll no. There's no way in he'll I would pay over 2,000 dollars for a xrt.
Get ready to spend lots more on it.. I just can’t justify paying that much for a car that doesn’t hold up with the lightest bashing
Vass, did u just say that u spent 2,100 dollars on that xrt??
Yes sir.
Well at least you tell the truth about Traxxas stuff because it do cost a lot for it
Thank you. 🤜🤛
Kraton and xrt our the sane price in the uk £1000
The rear bumper loops will break first run
😳 that's not good...
Traxxas flat out sucks lol
Mine I bought as a slider on ebay from one of the "chop shops".
2100$. Wtf my notorious with way better body cost 399 plus 250$ batteries and charger. What has happened. You can buy a used yz 250 for that price
Never knew about XMaxx's here going up 100%, interesting. Here's hoping you get your moneys worth out of this at least.
😂😂😂😅😅 AMEN!
All I heard was “$2100”! Yea no.
2099$!!?
Yup.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 ok, sure. Whatever you say... 🙄🤣
I don't think he's a fan 🤔😂
How will ever go on knowing I've let you down?! 😔😏
Thanks for watching. 😁👍
Thank you. 🙂
That's the other thing, too, we don't get the service and options you guys get over there.
🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮🤮🤢🤮
I didn't mean to upset you I just wouldn't buy something I don't like. You knocked it before you even tried it.
I might find out I'm wrong once I test it, but I'm not being unfair.
it isn't expensive.. you just live on the complete opposite side of the world
I think what you're meant to say is "this truck shouldn't be twice the price despite us being on the other side of the world". 😉
HOLY SCHNIKES 2100$ what all does that include shipping most of it I'm sure
O ya I live 1hr from Traxxas HQ and it freaking awesome
