Cool video. It reminds me of submarine school back in the early 80’s when they would test us for claustrophobia. We had to sit 4 or 5 per-side crammed in, no hearing protection and the lights turning on and off. As the depressurized the chamber, they had balloons that would expand and pop. They would tell us “these are your lungs, don’t try to hold your breath!” The next day we noticed a few guys had dropped out of sub school. 🤣
Amazing video as always guys! I’m hoping to check out our local chamber on the south of the U.K. once I can sort out a visit! Thankyou for this amazing insight
Please can you do a video of you running the chamber, as if there were a diver inside having dove a said depth, for a said amount of time. Show how you break down the timing between vents, and stops. Thank you, really enjoy the channel
I'll look into that. It's a fine line between showing that all in a video and people confusing it as a substitute for proper training so I'm always careful to include too many specific instructions. Moreover, running the chamber is quite expensive. I'll give some thought to how I can turn it into an interesting video that still leaves it obvious that proper training is required! Thank you for the suggestion! 👊
I've never even tried scuba diving, just wondering how do divers enter these chambers without flooding the place from opening the door inside the ocean??? :D
These chambers do not enter the sea but mimic it where the pressure created inside them thins the oxygen gas where oxygen then gets introduced to the blood plasma directly
What u are describing is a bell, they have large amounts of air being pumped into them which is greater then the force of the water on the outside, as u go deeper the water line also goes up till theres no air left. Which is why they commonly go between 60-350ft
This is about as specific as I can be because when we dive into more detail, it's going to be hugely different from chamber to chamber. That's why all training is unit-specific. Thank you for watching!
Super cool! Thanks for explaining it in a simple way! I have a question. What would happen if someone were to use the compression chamber without having the bends?
Gr8 Video ❤ what is the weight of the portable hyperbaric chamber and can it be transported via land vehicle or by means of a helicopter to a hyperbaric facility ?
Always wanted to know how a chamber works and this was very informative. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Had a question. I have heard that getting time in a chamber is very expensive. How expensive is it compared to when someone has a DAN insurance?
It really depends from location to location. Here it's about 4-500 USD per hour but that is on the low end. If you carry DAN insurance or similar, they usually cover the whole treatment.
Great video! I am not a scuba diver but I experienced RELIEF from depression after 8 seventy minute treatments July of 2019 at Healing with Hyperbarics of North Dakota. ps: is it necessary to include your opinion about the mono-place chamber as claustrophobic inducing?? Because the new chambers are clear and comfortable. Thank you again for the video. Mike.
Aloha Nick, I have a question for you. With respect to a hyperbaric chamber, are bar and PSI 2 different ways of measuring the same thing? Like, fundamentally are you just bringing the chamber up to a particular PSI level to replicate a particular bar depth?
hi. at 8min50sec you showed the regulator. where can i get the small metal valves on the regulator. i've been searching for a year & nobody knows about them & i've never found one on google/ what are they called. there are 2 with one on either side & they allow you to adjust the flow of oxygen so it only flows when you breath. you were really good thats necessary info. thanks.
Very good question. Technically speaking you certainly could, however: we want the patient to breathe oxygen deliberately as it's their "medicine" and that's best done while awake so they can take nice big, deliberate breaths. Secondly, if a patient is asleep, it's harder to assess their symptoms. Therefore we keep patients awake throughout treatments.
Is it recommended to go to chamber after diving everyday 3 dive a day for almost 2 months with very intense work underwater ?? But we still not a Deco dive thought.
We were working in Bali for 3 months doing coral plantation and Restoration we carry things with liftbag but still very hard work so just wondering if really necessary to go to chamber here in Indonesia is quite cheap but never experience how is work so just corious.
My son is receiving HBOT, I go into the chamber with him . They have my son wear a helmet that the oxygen goes into. It was our 3rd session and while in there I was feeling like I couldn’t breathe, dizzy and started feeling agitated. My son began acting drunk . The first two sessions we were fine , felt relaxed and very good after the session. Is it possible the oxygen wasn’t right? Is it harmful for me to be in there with no oxygen besides what’s in the chamber ( my son has the helmet on) I don’t. I told the tech upon exiting, my daughter was in the waiting room and said she could hear an alarm going off and the tech was chatting with a girl in another room . I’m concerned they aren’t doing what they are supposed to. The oxygen level in the chamber was reading 30
Hi Christina, from that information it's hard to tell what the situation is but I highly encourage you to speak with the operator and the prescribing physician. I hope your son is recovering swiftly!
@Joe-sg9ll you'd need a 60ft pool though and wouldn't really be able to safely administer 100% oxygen. In-water recompression exists but is less effective and less safe.

Ha! That's some next level training right there 😅 I agree you definitely can't be too claustrophobic for these things!
Awesome video Nick! Thanks for the quick refresh on how the chamber works.
Best regards and I hope to dive with you guys again!
You're welcome! I hope so too!
Good video sent it to my daughter who is a first year med student she is interested in hyperbaric medicine
That's awesome! There's so much undiscovered potential still in hyperbaric medicine!
Thank that was great information
I'm looking to start a hyperbaric course .
So,kindly make more videos like this. Thank you again

Thank you for the compliment and for sharing the video. I definitely hope you get that chance to check out your local chamber!

Would have the same effect as a normal dive.

@@DiveSAGA Ah. Makes sense. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
How does one become certified to operate Chamber? Thanks
That's a good question. Most chambers will offer informal in-house training because almost every unit is uniquely configured!
where did you get the chamber? Do they sell them?
Love your video, which gas do they use in ddc. Is it the same with gas we used in diving? Or is there any additional gas?
It is just air
do you know how these could possibly be used in space

I am claustrophobic, I need to be in a place I can see around, What do you recommend? I am looking to buy my own.

Aloha Nick, I have a question for you. With respect to a hyperbaric chamber, are bar and PSI 2 different ways of measuring the same thing? Like, fundamentally are you just bringing the chamber up to a particular PSI level to replicate a particular bar depth?
Yes, bar is simply the metric way of expressing pressure, the way psi is the imperial measurement of pressure.

Came here after watching Baywatch's episode "The Chamber". 🤣
Haha! Well I'm glad you're here! 👊
Can you dive again if you suffered the bends
Usually you can but the physician will probably give you a certain waiting period 1-6 months and potential depth restricted
I tough this Chamber put under water and after diving completed, it is brought up with diver already stay inside.😁🙈

Sorry for the late reply! A chamber treatment is always prescription based by a physician, so unless they prescribe it, it shouldn't be necessary!
Hi sir i have a question if diver is unconscious so can we put him in chamber
I'm not a physician and can't give out medical advice. You need to consult with a hyperbaric physician.
My son is receiving HBOT, I go into the chamber with him . They have my son wear a helmet that the oxygen goes into. May I asked why he is receiving HBOT?
I know there are other reasons for using it than the obvious.
Thank you.
*How much the cost per session of 120 minutes...x 30...*
In our specific chamber about 4-500 USD per hour. And that's low compared to other places.
Visitor 1667 here. So which country are you from?
Hai iam indonesian
how much does it cost to run a session?
Here about $500 an hour. Mostly specialized staff wages, power, oxygen, meds
@DiveSAGA that's without the initial purchase price? that's just to run it?
sounds insane
@Joe-sg9ll my guess is that that's cheaper than where you live 🙂
@@DiveSAGA it'd be cheaper to weigh them down to the bottom of the pool, innit bruv

We make diving chambers with DNVGL approval.
Probably 30 grand easy
@@Matanumi Class approved(U stamped vessels) by ASME go around for that. Without fitting we provide it for 20 grands.
