3:16 In Update 0.7.11, the mechanics of torpedoes dealing damage to a destroyed part of a ship were changed. Now, a torpedo hitting a ship in any such part will cause guaranteed 1/10 of the maximum damage.

Sometimes it is THEM who sail in front of your torps for whatever reason. That happens.
@@franciscodetonne4797 still, you launched them, you are responsible. You can not look into the future and predict whatever your teammate is gonna do. Maybe he has a different plan, maybe he wants to go into a different direction. Whatever it is, your teammate (should) not have to take into account that, not only the opponents, but ALSO his teammates are shooting torps in his direction.
A 'friendly' torpedo doesnt exist. A torpedo in the water is equally dangerous to everybody on the map. Remember that.

Now that I read this again, "that you should NEVER fire torpedoes in front of teammates". You mean, "you should never launch torps when a teammate is in front of you"? Because if you're already in front of the teammate (toward the direction of the enemy), it's safe to do it.

Are you ever gonna give the Japanese destroyers back their Long Lance torpedoes? You have around their maximum effective range in as their absolute maximum range even though they were rated for much farther. At the standard 42kn (78km/h 48m/h) their maximum effective range was 11km with a standard effective firing range of 22km but their maximum range was just over 40km. Not to mention you only gave the type 93 to Kagero and up when they were in service by 1933 which means they were deployed by all their ships by the time of world war 2 as opposed to all the ridiculous variants you have in game. They were the most powerful and devastating torpedoes in the world at the time. America had better planes and the best AP rounds, DamCon, and AA in the world, the Japanese had the worlds best torpedoes and heavier guns as a necessity.
Probably never, say they say: "Balancing issues". Also, 40km is basically almost larger than some lower tier maps, higher tier maps only get 48kmx48km, it'll be very OP if it does so

Depends on their depth, Probably not when they are surfaced, but yes when submerged.
But submerged at what depth
And thus is another reasson for the current DW mechanic being utter crap. When implementing they could have gone for a physical model checking target's draft, but no, they went for the stupid class based approach... so no If they do not modify anything submarines should never be hit by DW, but if according to depth (and then what depth) they should be hit, WG has some coding and explanation to do...
@@BayushiTawa Exactly.. See DW torpedoes according to me should hit subs simply because they are always in DEEP WATER. A sub, if surfaced can avoid DW but as soon as it is even in periscope depth it should be vulnerable to DW... otherwise DW is basically useless and dd's get butchered once again.

Think it means it will damage things on both sides of the armor relative to the location of the explosion. But the damage will be reduced as a whole

Example: I managed to erase a Kurfurst with 5 Minotaur torpedoes without flood or detonation.

ARC 7157 That was a UI type/bug, where Damage Control Modification added 2% to the Torpedo Protection value.
Needs more elaboration at 1:10. When does a torp inflict only 1/6 + 1/6 = 1/3 of its damage? On the subsequent scene a torp from Minotaur caused 10K+ damage, which is way beyond 1/3 of its max damage (16k).

Question for #WorldofWarships. Last night I noticed that Allot, ALLOT of my torpedoes would disappear at the point of impact without causing any damage. To be clear the torpedoes were well within range, if one missed it would keep going past the ship quit a distance but the bubble trail of the other would run into the ship and disappear without causing any damage and without continuing on the other side. It is difficult to see how often this happens when firing from a Cruiser or Destroyer but when I drop them from aircraft and either follow the torpedoes or if the aircraft are killed and I wait to watch the impact I definitely see the torpedoes disappear at the point of impact. This is quit infuriating as I was completely useless in battle last night resulting in constant losses one after another.

The torpedos are so broke. I just played a match in the South Carolina and I was ambushed, my guns took to long to turn so I couldn't shoot and I was there for defenceless. The enemy ship launched it torpedos and I went from 31,000 hp to 6,000hp. please fix this this, Torpedos are so overpowered and need to be nerfed.

Explosives have cube-shaped effects. I didn't realize we were in Minecraft.
It makes the coding not-a-complete-bitch to work with; you try coding a sphere in 3d geometry coordinates based on cubes and tell us how it goes...

I always starts turning my battleship when the enemy destroyer starts turning because I know it's gonna drop it's Torpedoes XD
So, just to be clear, the bow and stern can be damage saturated by torpedoes to the point that further torpedo hits do no damage. However, I can still set those parts on fire and do more damage to the ship that way? I feel like this damage saturation should apply to fire damage somehow as well. Has this been considered? If so, with what results? Or, perhaps I just misunderstood. Hope to hear from you WG!!
Just saying, most of the torpedoes that hit Bismarck main belt, or the torpedo belt, were mostly harmless...

Okay, I'm confused. A torp does 1/6 its damage to the section hit and 1/6 to the hull. What about the other 4/6? And is the extra damage from the blast cube from the torp's total, or does it come from thin air? Blast cube affects "all parts of the ship" .. including modules? magazine? etc? This overview just seems too cursory.
Magazines are modules. The blast cube models the effects of the explosion. It affects modules, but not the ship itself. Damage to the ship is applied directly based on hit location, torpedo protection, and warhead size. See the wiki.
Alright does every thing has cube radius, not circular. Does even the blast occur in cube radius ?

Are you using contact or magnetic fuse? You shoot a torpedo under the ship and you can break the ships back.

Well, with all variables stacked in your favor, flood chances are still around 50%
Stupid when destroyers are able to get directly alongside you, and still launch torps point blank; close enough to put them onto the deck and still get the kill.

How it Works: Torpedoes
Your guns will manage to track targets while you turn your ship (if they can turn fast enough), but if you try to torp someone while turning, they will miss! This is because of what most people call a bug in the game. Wargaming apologists on the forums call it an obvious and fair mechanic though. Beware!
