    Great video guys! 🙏🏽 Just a tip ... the Peak Design backpack has a hip belt which is hidden at the bottom inside the side pockets. The belt passes through the hole which is on the bottom of the side pockets which can pass through to secure around the waist. Also, the zippers can loop round several loop holes to give some security protection but its not the best. 😁

    Nice list, guys! There are quite a few that I hadn’t heard of 🙂
    My favorite bags are (ranging from large to small):
    • Large: Lowepro ProTactic 450 and Kelty Redwing 50L (with a camera cube)
    • Medium: Recycled Firefighter 12 Hour Bag (with small camera cube) and Vanguard Alta Rise 45
    • Smallish: ThinkTank Turnstyle 10, Vanguard Discover 38 and I’m currently testing the Signature 10 from ThinkTank...I have high hopes for it 👍🏻
    PS: I have the Mountain Pack from Topo Designs and it’s really well made + very functional. But the shoulder straps do cause quite a bit of strain, even with minimal weight. The hip belt doesn’t offer much relief either.

      The f-stop small pro ICU! I have an Osprey backpack that I love and having a more portable camera bag insert seems like it would be the best fit for me. I'm not super familiar with f-stop, but y'all did a wonderful job discussing the pros and cons of their bags- I'll definitely be checking them out. On another note, would y'all consider dedicating a video to camera lenses in the future? I have a Sony Alpha a6000 that I've used primarily for photography, but I want to expand into video and I'm unsure where to start. Thanks and all the best!

    This was super helpful! I'm looking for my first backpack at the moment and upgrading my camera gear as well so what I've been using to keep my gear safe won't cut it anymore. I’ve been traveling with the G-Raphy “Fly-Leaf” for a couple of weeks in Morocco. Perfect carry-on size, comfortable and has a separate camera bag for day excursions. Almost went with the Peak Design but it was 3x the price. :)

    I think the Lowepro Hatchbag is also very good for travel, especially with a mirrorless system. It fits a Sony a7 series camera with a 16-35gm and three other prime lenses. The ICU is also detachable, and you can only open from the back which can prevent fro’ theft. It’s super lightweight, and you still can fit many daily essentials in the upper storage space.

    I use Osprey Kamber with ICUs, finally found the set-up I've been looking for! My Clik Elite backpacks are now just resting in my closet. The Kamber is a backcountry snowsport pack, and does not look like a camera bag for security.

    Please share which airline lets you take a 70L pack as carry on??? The Sukha is not carry on compatible. The Tilopa is 49L and it's touted as carry on compatible but even with this, I've been asked a few times to check it (so I take the ICU out and with me). If you want guaranteed carry on compliant, go with the Anja @ 40L

    Very loud applause - this was my weekend homework, find this video / bag (going with the Sukha). Thank you guys! I'm going to be out of a job at the end of May and after years of dreaming and watching others travel the world, I'm taking a me year. Undergrad, grad school, 60 hour work weeks were how I spent my 20s and into my 30s. I decided I wasn't going to look for a new job right away - I'm tossing my stuff in storage and spending the summer from Norway to Greece. I was going to do it on a motorcycle, but was a bummer when I found out that we only get 90 days - rentals were too expensive, so I was going to buy - but the amount of time I'd get made the depreciation too great. So planes and trains are the name of the game. Back to the states for holidays and the new year, then planning on rounding out my year doing Australia / NZ / SE Asia. My biggest fear is that I'll never return to the great paying jobs that I've worked since grad school, because I'll fall so madly in love with traveling the world. Maybe our paths will cross sometime in the next year. Your videos, along with some other channels played a large role in my deciding to take time for me rather than jumping right back into another job.

    I used a Lowepro Rover AW over 10yrs ago and, despite the fact that it did its job, I didn't really like it. The Lowepro Primus Minimus though (discontinued now) is a brilliant bag if you're using one body and have 2-3 other lenses plus usual accessories. Has plenty of room for a jumper, water, travel docs, etc and the zippers/openings are mostly protected or back facing. It has a side opening compartment for quick access. I've done 2 international trips with this bag and countless domestic ones and it's a great design for having access to all my travel needs at my finger tips.
    These days, I've gone mirrorless and have transitioned to camera bags that snuggly fit my camera with lens attached so I can put it in any day pack and also have it over my shoulder. It's light enough to not be a burden and small enough to easily put away when I'm not shooting. The Lowepro Munich 100 and Format 120 are good, cheap cases for such a set up. This is what I like when using my 75L travel backpack with 25L day pack.

    Vinta S bags looks the best, it does not look like a camera bag at all. Fashion at its finest. You are correct about the negatives but technically youre able to place a tripod either on the side of the bag or the bottom straps (optional feature). Another good to review though is the Hexbrand Camera bags.

    Thank you for the review guys, really interesting!
    May I suggest an entry to this list ? The Mindshift 180 Horizon in my opinion kills them all!
    Being a travel addict, I've been looking for a bagpack big and convenient enough to store all my gear, but most of all access it easily and oh boy is it easy and convenient to access my gear with this bag.
    At this point I have to highlight that I am not sponsored in any way haha.
    The bag is comfortable and big enough (took it for a 5days trek in the himalayas) but still cabin size, and all your gear can be accessed and manipulated while walking without removing the bag from your back!! (you should watch a video of how it works as the system is hard to describe).
    There are different sizes, but my version (horizon) fits my Sony A6000 with 16-70 lens on, my 70-200 (detached from the body), plus 3 other lenses and one extra battery. Yes, all this fits in the belt compartment, hence I have plenty of room left for my other stuff in the top compartment.
    The bag is pricey, but I've used it so much and taken it to so many places that it's definitely worth every buck in my opinion.
    Please tell me what you think of it :)

    Good reviews of the bags...couple of corrections about the peak design everyday bag, though, which I have: it does expand 8 liters, but it expands from 12L to 20L...the “20L” name is for the max capacity. And, it does have a hip belt, tucked away in the side water-bottle pockets. It’s not padded but it’s better than nothing.

    Hey guys! I have a recommendation.
    The bag I'm recommending is the Kattee professional DSLR bag found here: www.amazon.com/dp/B01LC1GN7Y/ref=twister_B07C3L764D
    It's super cheap but it's good for people who don't do photography professionally but still want a camera backpack. Because it's cheap, it has a few downsides like no hip straps, it's pretty small, it's not accessible from the back it's not waterproof, etc. However, it fits a 15" laptop, has a waterproof rain cover, tripod straps, etc. This would be more for reeeeally small trips but I thought it was worth mentioning. There's also a similar one by Beaspire that's also cheap which can be found here: www.amazon.com/Professional-Waterproof-Multifunctional-Resistant-Accessories/dp/B01JOVOJM0/ref=sr_1_17?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1523728874&sr=1-17&keywords=camera+backpack I don't have this bag so I can't vouch for it though. Anyway, I love your videos and have been waiting for one like this! Happy travels!

      Yeah, it's a great bag, can hold a lot of camera gear, really comfortable. Side access is key to getting to your equipment without having to take of the backpack.

    I'm not sure of it was stated but the peak design does a small waist strap that comes out of the side pockets

    You guys should check out these newly released travel camera bags from the Company WANDRD. They have a day pack series called PRVKE and a new duffle series. I'm looking into getting their 31L model as a day pack. I currently use the Fstop Tilopa and absolutely love it, but its just a bit too big for certain things.

    Great timing on the video guys! I’m searching for a bag i can use along with my Osprey Farpoint 55 and substitute the Osprey day bag for either a new bag or my current plan is see if I can get small pouches for my 2 camera’s and see if they fit in my Osprey day bag. The peak design is on my list and a few other bags from amazon. Do you’ll still travel carry on only?

    take a look at shimoda designs bags too for travel/outdoor use. bags that transfer weight to hips are better. i still prefer hiking backpacks with ebay camera bag inserts. just as easy to carry gear securely with quick access, more versatile, carry weight better, and almost always cost less.

    • @esgee3829
      @esgee3829 6 лет назад

      osprey packs happen to fit me well but are heavier. i like using packs with front zippers or bottom zippers (for sleeping bag) for camera bag insert. zpacks with front zippers are great when i want to go light with camera gear.

    The peak design its 12L, expandable to 20L. Not 20L to 28L. And the 30L it’s about 18L without expanding it. That makes a pretty big difference. Thank you for the video! You should check out the Wndrd bags as well.

    So I'm planning on traveling around the world 6+ months. I'm settling on the Fstop 70L bag. What are your thoughts on packing a day backpack with it? Which daypack would you recommend, the peak design? Also, I'm planning on bringing a musical instrument(s) (probably flute and/or soprano sax), what are your thoughts on this? Thanks!

    I'm a fan of Peak Design. But those F -Stop bags are looking pretty good. I LOVE the backpacks that have rear camera access. I have the K&F Concept - DSLR Camera Travel Backpack. AWESOME BP. It's only about $69.99. Comes with a rain fly. On the plus side, it doesn't LOOK like a camera BP. It's just I'm just out growing it. : (

    I was wondering is the sukha compatible for carry on? im a photographer and am trying to find a well made bag that can hold my camera gear but also double as a backpacking bag and carry on international travel bag. Have yall used this as a carry on and what tips do you recommend

    • @vagabrothers
      @vagabrothers  6 лет назад

      We have always carried this bag on - even though it is technically bigger than regulation you can really tighten it down and compact it a lot to fit in almost all overheads and if you can’t you can always remove your ICU and gate check the bag. 🤙🏽

    • @thehikinghammers3668
      @thehikinghammers3668 6 лет назад

      vagabrothers thanks a lot guys! Can't you carry one one backpack and one small bag? So I could take out the icu and just carry it until I get on the plane right?

    Have yall looked into the Atlas Athlete? I like the idea of packing in cubes and then being able to pull all my personal stuff out at the hostel and sinching it down and being able to use it as a thinner day pack. Can;t decide if that's the best option or buying a 40L Gregory and also getting the peak design everyday 5L sling for my gear. 2-3 lens set up.

    Nice video guys. I would highly recommend Shimoda Designs bags. It was a very successful kickstarter last year. I find them more comfortable that my F-Stop bags. And one of F-Stops former designers created the bags so he has similar design elements.

    Looking for a really good work camera travel. Digital nomad bag. (Basically. I am looking for something with a double laptop compartment.) any ideas? Like.... What is the "Back to School" bag for a photographer? Laptop, full size notebook, camera, 2 lens, and a decent stuff compartment.
