A simple custom with colour change. I created my own colour using Purple and Black and I love the result.

Superb..... Cool! I love the different quirky cars on your radar and not the usual run of the mill stuff. I actually love all the Euro cars that I hated at the time but have long since disappeared off our roads. Nice finish on this :)
Thank you sir!
@Matchbox Garage One thing you can t miss is that the Majorette version stands higher on his wheels.
The other thing is that the details are much present and much sharper than on a Matchbox.
Looks like that the French are trying their very best to look at a real Renault.as proud as the French are.
Mine in red,, even has a black real working sunroof as a bonus.
Awesome job Rob on the Renault the details are well done you painted the Renault in my favorite color 👍
Love this car and casting. Cool custom job 👊🏼
One of my favorite castings! The ones with a gray interior were one of the last to be produced in England. Tan interiors are Macau.
Good color! :)
Lovely colour really like it
Just AMAZING!!!
Thanks Martin
I'm reliving my childhood watching these videos. Most of the models you're doing, I had as a kid.
I remember that I had this one as a kid. Always loved shining a flashlight through it so the headlights lit up.
Nice one Rob! Could you try to put the black window post in the back door window with a fine permanent marker and a ruler or something? Would make it a little bit more realistic.
It came out great :)
Today i have bought the same Renault 11 :-). It is in a better condition like your model ,before the restoration .
Nice mate. I went to the bootsale this morning and within 10 minutes bought about 50 cars and went straight to Morrisons for a fry up to celebrate
@@MatchboxGarage I was to an Oldtimer meeting and there were some toycars and modelcars for sale. I bought the black Renault and a red VW T2 from Siku ;-)
@@MatchboxGarage50 cars ? I am looking forward to see more unboxing and restoration videos from you ;-)
I had this car as a kid. Mum found it and it is now my sons car.
That's awesome
Very nice restoration!
Next time drop a little silver paint in the back of the transparent plastic headlights. You will be surprised in the way they will look like.
Very nice job. Thanks for sharing!
Good idea
Love this casting, looks wonderful!
Thank you Sir!
True, MB started to get it nailed on by the late 80s! The Pug 205T16 rally car, the VWGolf, BMW 323i, Volvo 760, Astra Police car and loved the little Skoda Estelle 130 among many. They made a nice job of the Ferrari Testarossa but their Ferrari F40 was by far the best casting of any in that scale (HotWheels one is far far too skinny, ugly thing!) Springy imitation "suspension" was always good, as we're opening parts!
R.I.P. the classic Matchbox castings
Great color and detail work, another Matchbox I've never seen, keep them coming, please.
I will do Sir
Be so tempting to get a mashed up one, cut down between the doors, paint the front end leftovers blue with no roof and stick a Roger Moore 007 figure in the driving seat!! One of the more unusual Bond cars to add to a collection!!
I didn't think I would like the color but I do. The vehicle looks good.
I was the same in the mixing pot but would certainly use it again
Hi Rob, I think your the only one using caustic soda. It looks like that it works better, and faster than, paint stripper??The little Renault looks very nice, thank you for the video. Greetings from the Netherlands
But it's dangerous so I am still considering a change in future
Doesn't look bad in that shade of purple! Nice effort
Nice work and I love the new midnight purple paintjob :)
Brilliant love the paint job it turns out beautiful
That color turned out very well, Tamiya needs to add that to their line of colors if they don't have it.
I knew it was Superfast with that turbo 😋
Nice job Rob, loved the colour. 👍🤩
Great job Rob another one saved even if it is a Renault (never was a fan soz). Definitely looking forward to your ford frenzy (love a ford) I have owned many from mk2 Zephyr, mk1 Escorts, mk3 & 4 Cortinas to my present LWB HiTop Transit and Mondeo Titanium X. Your skills are certainly upto par to do the famous Fords justice HaHa!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks mate
Great choice of color, nice car redo.
i wonder if a silver paint on the backside of the headlights would make them stand out rather than disappear? this would be an excellent choice to put LED headlights also
I have also the Majorette version
How do they compare?
@@MatchboxGarage I love my Matchbox models now and as a kid.
In my world there were only 2 brands.
Matchbox and majorette.
Untill i bought in a magazine shop for me a new brand from Germany Siku.
To be honest this brand is even nicer
I ran up on some paint even this method had a hard time with. One was a matchbox that had been touched up, regular stripper got the regular paint off but wouldn't touch the touch up paint. there was also a Tonka that I was working on at the same time. regular stripper only rmoved the decals. Then when I tried the caustic soda method it took 3 tries to get it all off of either body, and it still didn't just float off like it did here, the soda softened it tow where I cold take it off with a steel wool pad, but even at that, some places didn't get all the way cleaned. The matchbox is done, and already given away, but the tonka is being a real pain.
I find with some it just comes off easy but a few times they just don't want to play ball
Excellent casting bro, great work
I was wondering if you ever thought of taking a silver marker (Sharpe makes them) and painting the back side of the headlight plastic so they look a little more like lights. The clear lenses although very nice on some of the cars, get lost in the darkness of the interior.
Good idea
I had to check my box of cars, I have the same model ready for resto :) in virtually the same condition. You must have the cleanest drains in the street with all the caustic your puttting down them, Nice idea to do a less 'popular' car, I have been undecided what im going to do with mine yet. Great result much better looking than original again look forward to seeing what you do next.
I noticed a comment about orange peel paint, I did see it in the video, I think you need to lengthen your paint strokes and catch the car mid stream so to speak rather than the short puffs your doing at the minute, you always get a bit of a spit of paint when you first press the aerosol/airbrush.
wheels pop out nice and easy
*struggles*
lol i laughed so hard
Nice one rob.
Good to see you doing some of the less popular types.
Yeah I will drop in the usuals also but I enjoy doing these less common resto/customs more
kool , thank you
Robert
neat purple....Used a similar shade from Rustoleum.....Looks very custom
Nice job, as always! I really like the details!
Real cool job ... Rob
Great work!..neat. color....
that came out nicely!
I like your customs very much! I want to see more cars with custom wheels! Also, you could try to paint the headlights on french cars yellow...
I need to buy a batch of wheels from somewhere that doesn't cost so much money
Awesome as always!
I love that car.
Greetings from Argentina :D
Love your channel, quite entertaining. One critique I have is the quality of your paint work, not sure if it's the paint or the airbrush, but there is always a lot of orange peel. Not being harsh but it's just my observation.
Looking good!
Great videos, Keep up the good work 👍
Wow. I had the toy and the real thing......the toy was more reliable!
Hahahaha
thats a funny comment, i just referred to renault in F1
Nice car iconic in its time alongside fiat mirafiori alfa sud capri 2.8 i alfetta and Peugeot 205 gti golf gti and all the rest but all stickered up the Renault 1100 without stickers would be a surprise for the boy racers
Useless comment. All video is just turned out great! Your video is very entertaining.
yeah, you made a realy nice renault out of it. and once upon a time....renault was quite succesfull in F1 with..turbos...lets see what renault does for ricciardo in 2019. perhaps you have to do a remake.
Renault certainly made some great sports cars in the past. I've only owned 1 Renault. Being a MK2 Clio 1.8 16v. Great little hot hatch
It's just the post mushroomed over .Not a rivet.
This car would be a good candidate for adding LED's to for the head lights
Good idea I need to learn how to do it
Wow,,, learnt to drive in a renault 11 turbo ..
"Polar school of motoring "1985 .1.4 turbo .
Thought they where only. 3 door cars ?
I would love to own one mate.
@@MatchboxGarage crazy memories !
The driving schools previous car was an Escort xr3i . I was so lucky back then , to learn in such cool cars .
@@dashcam2417 I have an XR3i Matchbox that I will custom soon
Wow , a masterpiece ,like the others ;-). I want this car in 1:43 :-).
I smell Grape-Ape Cool-Aid when I see that Purple. A little Silver or Chrome behind the Headlights would have brought it up a notch or two.
My kid has got that car but it's an older version of that
It look better then before detail
Make look nice never seen a Renault in matchbox
Ps where do you get little
screw
From eBay
To make your auto-focus camera focus you have to yell at it..., “Focus you fuck!!”
Works every time for some Canadian guy.
Yeah sometimes I want to punch my camera right in the face
Das war ein 80er Spielzeug meine Zeiten
Hi rob I have been watching your videos and I have been trying to do my rs 200 but I was wondering where did you get your you little screws from cos I am having trouble finding them
eBay laptop screws
Thank you rob all so can you do rs 200
Nice
Colour pops brilliance again mate have you done any escorts yet and if you ever get your hands on a Capri that would b the icing on the cake 😊👈👉👍👊
Not done any Escorts yet but I have a MK2 RS2000 and MK3 XR3i that I will be doing soon
Oh and you will see in an upcoming unboxing video some Capri's
Not keen on the mauve colour. But it is certainly different.
Likeeeee
You didn't see the divot in the top and knock it out? I saw it in the original black. It only would have taken a minute to address. All that work and you missed a small fix.
❤😂🎉😮😅❤😂🎉😮😅❤😂🎉😮😅❤😂🎉😮😅❤😂🎉
Not bad. A little too dark for my taste. But good job. 👍🏻
I 💕 it
I've got a Vauxhall cavalier gsi2000 I'd love you to restore for me how do I send it to you an how much would it cost? thanks for you uploads love the vids
I have that car too I love it. Is it in a dark Red colour? To be honest each car consists of so many hours and products used that it is not worth the money. Maybe you can try restoring it yourself?
@@MatchboxGarage thanks buddy I'll do that with help from your vids hopefully! It's just the drilling an tapping of the posts I don't fancy but I'll have a go thanks again! Keep posting I'll keep watching love the projects 👍
I would love to restore some of mine but I don't have the funds to do them.
Nice job 👍, the colour looks almost like aubergine 🍆
Yes that would be a good colour code
Had a Renault 11 some guys cut it for metal
Your camera did focus.
Unless it's the camera looks like it's got a awful lot of orange pill
A lot
@@MatchboxGarage I'm not going to tell you honestly I'm not going to tell you it don't take it to heart is the compressor air up to hi
personally I wosn't bother with a Renault. They''re not popular here, the real ones, nor the models. Never been considered a good car to own.
Every Renault I have owned has broken down. Every French car really..
nice indeed ! the color choice pops !
Nice
