One thing I saw someone say in a video about this anime that made my mind explode a little because of how much it makes sense is that this anime follows "dream logic". Lots of things that "dont make sense" makes sense when you think about it like that, like people not caring about the most absurd things happening
Dont worry. Everyone have a phase with cringing over animal hybrids. You grow out of that. It starts on kemonomimi. And quikly goes to "I'm not a furry but..."
Glad you noticed that! Since Oshi no Ko airs on Wednesday at 11:00PM and Shikanoko airs on the same day at 11:30PM, somebody commented that she becomes a deer right after becoming a horse (Kana's family name Arima has a horse in it). Also, not really related but in Japanese, Horse + Deer = Stupid.
Fun fact, Most of the character names in this series take references from the names of animals. ~"Shikanoko" =deer child ~"torako" = Tiger child ~"Tanuki"kouji =raccoon ~"neko"yamada =cat ~
As someone that knows a lot about deer for hunting reason it's beyond hilarious and sorta hits home in a bizarre way. I'm hoping there will be a salt lick.
Not that anything is on or off the table but I’m not sure if the deer in Japan frequently have salt licks or not, least the ones in the city are borderline domesticated. Although like, I can totally see some sort of salt lick thing happening lmfao.
for those who dont know, "shika" basically means "deer" in japanese😹🙈

I watch a lot of anime and I too after this first episode was not sure what the heck I just saw… Fever dream indeed! Intro flew by quickly I feel there’s a lot of references to other shows and stuff in it, more than just dark souls I mean. Will be interesting to see what can be found on later viewings
If you guys gonna watch ongoing shows for the summer you should try Illusive Samurai and Wistoria: Sword and Wand. These have the best 1st episode released.
This and Tower of God will be the only series we watch live this season, mostly because it's as much as we can fit within our schedule and available time. Happy to take a look at those potentially in the future!
Actually, when Japanese release something with an incredibly long title, there's usually an intended abbreviation. You can usually recognize these because the font color is different on the title cards, book covers, etc. "ORE no IMOto ga konna ni kawaii wake ga nai" for instance is reduced to "oreimo" I may be wrong here, but, I guess this one is simply "Nokotan" in Japanese. Also, for someone boasting about living in Japan in speaking Japanese, I found it a bit disappointing to admit 1 minute later they don't know that shika means dear... 😘
@@TheAnimeClub159, by the way, I got curious about the title and pulled my dictionary out. Turns out "koshi tantan" is an existing kanji phrase, meaning something like "to watch with eagle eyes, to wait for an opportunity to pounce". Didn't know that... 🤷🏼♀️ So all together, the title means something like "stalking the deer girl girl girl"...
@@patrickmuller7334 I found a site that quotes a reddit post that translates the title to "Deer Kid ambles without a care as the tiger looks on, seeking an opportunity"
The more I watch this the more I read into it. Like the fact there are always 2 deer witnesses like during biblical times up to and included to the resurrection of Christ. Deer god...
Never seen your guys' stuff before, but has George never seen an Surreal Comedy show before? Sure the cutesy factor is pretty Japanese, but it's not like the genre is rare in the west.
I think this series is going to challenge George LOL. This is like serving espresso to someone who doesn't like coffee
Shika is deer, that was the soundtrack kicking in

This is definitely some kinda Monty Python absurdism, I haven't seen a show this weird in years
A Dëër once bit my sister...
Asobi Asobase is one of the best animes i've ever watched and nothing has quite filled that hole ever since... But here we are 😂
Dont worry. Everyone have a phase with cringing over animal hybrids. You grow out of that. It starts on kemonomimi. And quikly goes to "I'm not a furry but..."
If it has a tail, I ain’t into it!
"I don't even know what to say" is a valid reaction tbh. This show is the definition of chaos 😂
This anime might be the closest thing i'll get to being high
Also Nokotan's VA also voiced Gon & Kana from Oshi No Ko

Just turn off your brain George when watching this to enjoy it more 🤣😆
theory: the rocks hitting everyone's faces will be justification for everyone acting like they're brain-damaged

"Wtf just happened?" is gonna be the theme for the whole season. This is why this is a brainrot anime.. you don't think, just laugh 🤣
Doing this sober is fun.
Not being sober is just peak.
I guess "Shika" means "Deer"? Not sure though
it does and shkanokono means deer girl
Shika is deer
Noko is child
Nokonoko means nonchalant or carefree
Koshitantan means to be vigilant, on edge.
@@AlienScribble I wish I could 👍 you comment 1000 times
Correct
Can't wait for deer season! I wonder what Noko would taste like.
Eventually George's normie armor will wear down
So Funny!

In case you haven't noticed, the studio behind this anime is WIT studio

Yeah you'll have to forgive me because the Japanese that I know is all over the place and has major holes. I don't study as much as I should....

Great reaction but its too edited, Should have saved the Op for Patreon and add that time to the Episode

Oh that's awesome! 🤩
