I’m so over DVC, they’ve ruined so much lately between the Poly, the cabins and now this. The shooting gallery has been such a fun stop over the years and a fond childhood memory.
Taking something that is fun for everyone and on top of it, it's original to 1971 Disney World. And turning it into a dang lounge that only a few have access to. What a bunch of B.S.
It's so upsetting to hear that they're removing the Arcade in favor of a DVC Lounge. As charming as the Arcade is, this is really more about the bigger picture- removing free experiences for everyone to replace them with perks for only the upper class of guests. It's decreasing the value of a visit to Magic Kingdom and takes away something that is charming and memorable. So much for the "blessing of space", too- why couldn't the DVC lounge be a new building built in empty space? What happened to the "theme" in "theme parks"?
I really don’t understand who this is meant to please, tbh. A fraction of park guests who don’t really like it anyway? DVC is great if you live near Disney World. For the millions of other guests from around the world, perks and attractions are REMOVED? Bizarre management, engendering even more resentment and dissatisfaction from already ripped off customers. Smart move guys 👍
DVC Lounges will likely be in converted unused or underused spaces, rather than in new construction, assuming they add them at AK and Studios eventually. They aren't a "gift" to members from the parks, they are leased and paid for by DVC Marketing.. and since much of Magic Kingdom has been without corporate sponsors for years, most of the attractions that had sponsors have been rethemed or removed, so there really aren't any former unused corporate lounges available that DVC Marketing could lease and use from the parks. Especially that are ADA compliant. WHile I am nostalgic and will miss the arcade, in reality, I doubt it was bringing in enough consistent revenue to cover the cost of maintenance and operations.
Given the left lean of Disney, why is anyone surprised they’re removing a shooting gallery? DVC lounge is probably the least expensive thing they could do to add a benefit for some. Maybe an AP lounge would be a thing, given the cost of DVC… 🤷🏼♀️

Opening day attraction that practically no one uses is closing. Fixed it for you.
Frontierland is primed for major changes.

Closing an attraction that I never see anyone using??? Say it ain't so!
