My hope is that Country Bear Jamboree can be restored to its original show at some point. Sadly Splash Mountain will never be able to go back to its former glory the way Disney World's Tiki Room was able to.
Imagine building a 5th park after replacing great movie ride with mickey and minnies, and the park you replaced a ride in is still short on attractions.
Maybe not a popular opinion but the Great Movie Ride wasn’t great, certainly not worthy of being the park centerpiece. However we’ll go out of our way to ride MMRR. It just entertains us better
@@DanTheMan1973 cant deny that. My issue isnt about which ride is better. Its the fact that the parks are so crowded and they keep trading one ride for another instead of adding capacity. Lines are crazy ling and people have to pay to skip lines and overplan everything. Disneyland park by comparison has so many e tickets its crazy. Basically magic kingdom and hollywood studios combined, and while they have lightning lane, its completely unnecessary.
Yes! And even the attractions they DO have aren't always all running on any given day! And aren't there still theater buildings in DHS sitting empty with no shows in them?
Right now there are three parks between 45 and 25 years old that are severely lacking in rides/attractions. They can't even fix a Yeti at Animal Kingdom let alone add capacity post-Avatar, the Studios is a thematical mess with little to do outside thrills and shows, and EPCOT has lost its identity and failed to add a country pavilion in decades. At least a decade of post-Iger damage repair is needed before a fifth gate is even considered.
I hope that plans for a 5th gate is held off until this IP mandate thing loosens heavily. I also still believe they need to improve all the park they do have.
Disney World/land is nothing without its live entertainment! As a musician myself this makes me feel really sad. I hope they do plan to replace with different shows.
If there’s a fifth park, I’m going to say “Disney Port Adventure” or “Disney’s Lands of Magic” or “ADVENTURE ADVENTURE ADVENTURE ADVENTURE By Disney (Adventure)”
@kermit-operationmisspiggyp8268 I suppose for Florida theming although if they wanted to do a 5th park it would have to be a grandiose scale one similar to Disney Sea and not California Adventure.
You guys have been killing it lately, I have to say! Been loving the Tokyo content, and Eric did a splendid job holding down the fort behind the desk. Great work to the team! Keep it up :)
Your feelings about the loss of the purple '80s signs on the property are the same as mine when those replaced the original ones from my childhood. "Holy wow, WDW is so important to us transportation dept. gives interstate signs their own Brown color instead of green and white!"
"there is a maximum amount of theme parks this city can handle" OK Tom except the Orlando airport completed a major expansion NOW while Disney has not been adding major capacity for over a decade. Universal is going to take that increased capacity having a park ready to go in the near term as long as they price accordingly. Disney has been public about pricing to turn away capacity growth the market has already been asking for. (even though they are liars about wanting less guests to better the experience). By the time Disney expansions are complete I would imagine airport capacity just expands further. You have to consider as well the new train options that will encourage locals and tourists from other areas of Florida. Disney's idea that this is a mature market with limited growth is a big part of the reason they allowed universal to take marketshare away while they underinvested. The reality is universal identified their competitor was so stupid and greedy raising prices, underbuilding and turning capacity away, that they thought it was worthwhile to buy back land (they had previously sold on a fire sale) for future theme park use and build a whole new park/ associated hotels. Maybe I could agree that Disney cant support a 5th park for some number of years, but that would be a uniquely Disney problem they created for themselves by underinvesting and giving away marketshare. Also its kris-thee-lee on pronunciation. His one of the best mandolin players and songwriters alive right now and a good choice by Disney. Respect if you don't delete this and I do appreciate your takes and enabling a discourse.
Thank you so much for clarifying the Chris Thile pronunciation, he is one of THE greatest living musicians, and I about fell out of my chair realizing he was doing CBJ!
Saw it somewhere, where someone said “inflation isn’t what’s happening if companies are reporting record profits.” I am tired of Disney claiming inflation, supply chain, covid setbacks, budget issues, etc for why they can’t support the staff they’ve been able to (sort of, they didn’t pay them great) hire in the past. If you’re telling people that the economy has you bent over a table only to turn around and tell your investors that you’re all rich, it’s not the economy that’s messed up.
WDW doesn’t need a fifth park. Rather it needs beefing up of its existing parks. Even after the work Epcot still needs so much. The wonders of life pavilion is empty, your signature ride is in rough shape, half of your country pavilions lack an attraction or film. There’s work to be done with what you’ve got.
They're kind of at that point in the resort where there will always be something they need to do. A refurb. A reno. A redo. I think it would ultimately hurt the resort if they did.
It's just as good. People's nostalgia for Splash Mountain is insane. Tiana's has a lot more detail and tricks. It is certainly on par with Splash Mountain.
@@MrMac1138 I disagree, I watched the ride through and it was boring compared to Splash Mountain. Don't forget, the ONLY reason why Splash was changed to Tiana was because people bitched and complained about how the Song of the South film was "racist" and "woke" and instead of Disney saying "We are NOT giving into these complaints!", they just tucked their tails and ran to change the ride like the little spineless cowards they are!
@@GenGamesUniverse People who have actually ridden the ride say the POV video doesn’t do it justice. I thought Disney changed the theme because they would sell more Tiana merch than Brer merch, since the color Disney cares most about is green.
Eric is doing a great job but it is nice to see you behind the desk! It’s about time WDW get some attention and a 5th park sounds great but I’m not holding my breath for that.
My idea for a 5th park would be Florida themed and maybe have a connection to the Grand Floridian…orange bird, everglades, Mickey and friends go golfing, beach/lakes.. etc. so many old Disney classic movies could fit right in 🤷🏻♀️ just fun to think about!
I Have Mixed Thoughts about Having a 5th Theme Park for Walt Disney World. If We Will Have One, Then We Will See How it'll go and Hopefully, its Concept Arts will look Exciting just like Universal Epic Universe.
I'm sure it will be exciting, I mean lately it feels like they can only do exciting concept art. Sadly executing that art lately seems to be lackluster and partial
My idea for a 5th Park that really could compete with Universals Epic Universe is…. A Pixar Park.. Have lands and attractions for: 1. Monstropolis - A Disney classic dark ride 2. Elemental City - Water roller coaster attraction 3. Radiator Springs - Bring cars land from California and copy it to WDW 4. Inside Out - have a omnimover are attraction with interactive memory and educational on memories 5. Bugs Land - just for the true Disney Adults!! Do a Jazz restraint/lounge for Soul You can have Wall-E going around the park. Most of Pixar films have references within all the movies so they can easily have things roam around all over to keep that continuity alive!
Apparently Comcast has tons of cash from Disney buying HULU. That Universal has filled some permits to expand Epic Universe and other land around it possibly even another theme park. They now have around 2,000 acres to play with, minus the about 200 acres for Epic.
It's great to have you back, Tom. Not that Eric didn't do a good job, just welcome back. Disney World doesn't need a 5th gate. Like someone said earlier, they just need to fix & maintain what they already have. As for me, I've never visited Universal. I don't know why, it just seems that when I come to Orlando, I just never have the time or desire to go there. I guess I'm too much of a Disney fan. LOL. If I want to go to Universal, it will be to see all the Harry Potter stuff. And maybe I felt that way when it first opened. But it's not a big deal for me now. And all the cuts that Disney seem to do, it just saddens me. These days, I really don't care if I go to Disney World or not. When I did it's because WDWNT had an event that made me want to come down and hang with everyone, like Stage 89. The Disney World of my childhood past, well it's just not the same now. And I guess, I've outgrown Disney. If I am there now, it's because of an event and all the nice lounges in the parks.
Too bad you guys never acknowledge my comments as I was born in Orlando and often attended WDW with my family so I really appreciate these videos and the honest commentary on them. I still have relatives out there and definitely miss visiting them so thanks for keeping the spirits up with these videos as I stay hopeful that someday I can return for another Summer vacation as it's been long overdue. Keep up the good work.

The only thing dated about this was faded color and aging. My belief is that all of this could have stayed but just been repainted or refinished.
WE DONT NEED A 5TH PARK!!!! WE NEED WDW TO MAINTAIN THE PARKS THEY ALREADY HAVE. Hopefully them announcing new things at D23 is a good sign that they are committed to investing into parks that desperately need capacity.

I agree that the old trash can colours are better than the new ones. Not only the colours remind me of EuroDisney from the 90s but also the Disney videos logo. If Walt Disney World is reimagining Journey Into Imagination with Figment I hope they’ll reuse these colours.
Waiting for the Tom Rant about the new Disney DAS, it really needs to be brought out into the light, Disney theme parks in the USA literally went from being one of the most inclusive places in the world, to being the most restrictive in the world for disability access, Disney really needs to be ashamed of themselves for what that are putting people through with some serious disabilities
Once again you Disney haters are drastically over estimating the impact of epic universe to Disney Guarantee that once 2026 comes to an end, magic kingdom will still be the most visited theme park in the world, and you guys will be complaining about how much more expensive it is to go to universal studios
At this point, my bet is with Universal for the next 10 years. The Disney Company is bleeding money in every division except cruiseline and some parks. The only parks that are really making money are WDW and Disneyland. The remainder have either never made a profit or it's been touch and go.
@@mylessmith8059 This isn’t about being a Disney hater this is recognizing that in less than a year Epic Universe is going to open and Super Nintendo land will be one land out of several that will draw people like crazy. Take the emotions out of this and look at it from a business perspective.
Why did they rename the Country Bear Jamboree to Country Bear Musical Jamboree. Doesn't Jamboree already mean Music Jam? The new sign looks cheap and its sad they got rid of the hand carved sign by a Disney legend.
Disney announces stuff and then just cancels them. Play Pavilion? Mary Poppins? The Spaceship Earth rework? They can announce a million things at D23, but how many of them will actually happen? It also takes Disney an ETERNITY to build anything. Epic Universe will be open before Magic Kingdom opens the Pirates of the Carribean lounge they announced.
Disney's use of color science has gone from readability and drawing attention to what is cheapest and most likely to make something blend in. How long before they just start making trash piles and paint them Go Away Green? I mean, the solution to new rides that require large structures is to just put them in line of sight and then paint them Go Away Green and Bye-Bye Blue.
When I went back in 2010 and 2012, there wasn't anything there that was now - no star wars land, no pixar land, no "mickey and minnies runaway train" ride, no Frozen ever after, no Tron, no Moana etc. IT was all the same as what I remembered it as a child when I visited with my parents in the 1990s except that Horizons, Wonders of Life, Innovations, Universe of Energy and World of Motion were gone.
I’m sure EPIC started being designed way over 10 years ago . I’d love to see Disney do a 5th park but will definitely take years until it could happen. They can’t just rush something together like the second park in Paris
@@GenGamesUniverseannounced but I’m sure they didn’t go ok let’s announce it in 2019 and now let’s design it and find a place and ask for the i4 to be expanded .

Doesn't matter if they build a new park if it's going to be built like most of their most recent projects. Build it cheap Put a photo op in it Make it lame
What's making me laugh about this, is that they (as in Disney) are showing that they are SCARED of Universal Studios Orlando now because of the new park land they're making with other films like Universal Monsters and Super Nintendo Land and How to Raise Your Dragon etc.
Please Disney Fix your parks! I do not want a 5th park built under current management. It will be so cheap and bad. I’m gonna miss those trashcans just like I miss those signs. I remember as a kid I didn’t have Google maps and I couldn’t read signs very well, but when I saw those purple signs I knew I was at Disney and it made me so happy. Also what the heck?! If they take all the entertainment away what are people supposed to do at avengers campus? They’re not exactly there for the scenic buildings. They spent so much money on that Spider-Man animatronic and they’ll just throw it away just to screw over the cast members.
Disney: lets tear down a building for meet and greets to spend a stupid amount of money rebuild a smaller building for meet and greets while installing a water garden line queue to no where.
As a person with low vision, that blue-on-blue color scheme at the TTC is disappointing. I had to pause the video for a while to even be able to see that there were trash cans in front of the archway. They could at least have made the trash cans light blue with dark blue trim to stand out against the dark blue arch.
The cuts to live entertainment at DCA seems catastrophic. The only reason I could excuse Avengers Campus is because they packed it with live entertainment With the Hyperion dark and cutting atmospheric entertainment from buena vista street and AC, the front half of the park will feel dead
Most of this stuff was already allowed in the prior agreement. The new agreement allows way more office space to be built. Why would Disney need so much office space? Hmmmm, can you say relocate most of the business and possibly the headquarters to Florida!!!!!!!!
Tom is always talking sense. So many people do not understand that Disney and Universal often have drastically different types of guests. There is some overlap, but most families will not take kids under 10 to Universal parks in Orlando for a lot of days. How to Train Your Dragon may make some progress here, but Disney is full of attractions the whole family can enjoy while Universal has often aimed at having more thrill rides. I agree that Epic is likely going to cannibalize Universal's own parks. The problem is Epic has take a lot of money that could have been invested in their current parks. JP River Adventure is in terrible disrepair and could use the Jurassic World treatment Hollywood got. There is nothing in Lost Continent. Fast and Furious is terrible and will be gone for Horror Nights - and they got rid of two solid attractions for that. Rip Ride Rockit is probably gone. MiB needs a retheme or a lot of work. Simpsons has an expiration date. The Wild Wild West/Fear Factor theater could have had the land put to better use. So while Epic is getting all the nice new stuff, the legacy parks have been neglected. The original plans of turning the Kid Zone area into Super Nintendo World, tearing down the Fear Factor theater and building the Ministry of Magic attraction there, potentially building a Zelda land where Lost Continent is, and maybe thinking about replacing Toon Lagoon with Pokémon (my idea) would have been a much wiser investment. Universal is going to spread themselves thin. Disney is wise to expand the parks they have. There is a lot of land Magic Kingdom could expand to. The plot for Behind Big Thunder is just one. There is more north of Fantasy Land and there is also the space beyond the berm where they had planned Fire Mountain 20+ years ago. There is land for Hollywood Studios to expand. AK has a ton of land to expand into north of Everest and Kali River Rapids. Even Epcot has the Wonder of Life pavilion space, space for another pavilion between The Land and the Seas if they reconfigure some things, and still a good amount of land in World Showcase. Before you ever even consider a new gate, you best make sure the ones you have are SUPERB. Spend the money there first and, if all the parks are in a great state, then that is when you might think about it.
Universal just updated the Kids Zone to a dreamworks land with Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Trolls. It looks like a lot of fun for younger kids. I agree they need to put more work into the rest. I’d bet once epic opens they will focus their attention on those areas. I was sad when they closed Poseidon’s fury even if it was cheesy lol. I’m glad my son and nephew got to experience it at least once. Fast and furious is a really bad ride 🫣 but I like MIB
they have already stated they are investing in Islands and Studios after they are done with EPIC, they are just focused in the short term of getting epic done on time (Disney should take note lol) and then focusing resources at Studios and Islands, Universal may not have a D23 type announcement every year but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plans behind the scenes of what is coming down the pipeline, universal is just a constant construction machine
@@adamp2384They won’t invest in them after Epic fails to meet expectation. They are already cutting budget. Remember that Peacock is losing hundreds of millions a year. Cable subscribers are going down. Comcast has more issues than Disney does. You won’t see much at USF or IOA for at least 2-4 years.
@@adamp2384Also their internal surveys are telling them they have a lot of issues with projections for Epic from attendance and resort stays. It is precisely what Tom said. They aren’t taking much from Disney. They’re just moving the shells around. They likely will see only a slight gain next year in attendance between all three parks. So great to have you back (for now) Tom!!!!
Here’s how Disney can get me back:
- Restore DAS with proof of condition rules
- Make Genie Plus Unlimited
- Reduce costs of food, limited events, hotels
- More roaming characters
- Bring current parks up to standard in terms of maintenance and modern park expectations
- Bring back ‘The Disney Difference’ generally
- Create more park unique characters and attractions, stories
- Bring science and education and wonder back to Epcot.

I'm hoping the new Country Bears is good but the last time they tried to do something like this we got Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management. 😬
That ride is awesome tho my kids love it!

24:51 what will be left at DCA? The entertainment makes DCA worthwhile. Without it, it’s just rides. They’re making it a half-day park again.
Justice for the Disneyland Resort's Entertainment Department!!
They just started the Spider-Man show!
It's still a half day park with all of those shows lol. None of them are Hyperion-length.
I agree with Tom about the trash cans. The other ones could be seen. I will bet anyone with low vision will not see them since they are dark!
Disney World/land is nothing without its live entertainment! As a musician myself this makes me feel really sad. I hope they do plan to replace with different shows.
They need a magical photo pass photo of Lari the Armadillo lifting your wallet.
If there’s a fifth park, I’m going to say “Disney Port Adventure” or “Disney’s Lands of Magic” or “ADVENTURE ADVENTURE ADVENTURE ADVENTURE By Disney (Adventure)”
Adventure, Adventure, Adventure! - A Disney Adventure Park Venture

@kermit-operationmisspiggyp8268 I suppose for Florida theming although if they wanted to do a 5th park it would have to be a grandiose scale one similar to Disney Sea and not California Adventure.

Your feelings about the loss of the purple '80s signs on the property are the same as mine when those replaced the original ones from my childhood. "Holy wow, WDW is so important to us transportation dept. gives interstate signs their own Brown color instead of green and white!"
That map popcorn bucket is incredible.
There’s been whispers of a 5th gate forever, but instead they just threw ip in wherever they see fit instead of creating a cohesive new space.
Happy to have you back Tom!
Cant wait to go in 2087! 😊
Yea no way there will be a 5th WDW park any time soon in the future

They're kind of at that point in the resort where there will always be something they need to do. A refurb. A reno. A redo. I think it would ultimately hurt the resort if they did.
Gee yah think Tom? With Epic opening next year and Disney sitting on their hands all these years?
Tiana is literally the definition of a "replacement thats not as good".

It could be called Disney’s Florida Adventure. 👍
Tom you are so right. instead of changing the colors of the trash cans do more maintenance on the rides. Doing change for change is dumb.
Have lands and attractions for:
1. Monstropolis - A Disney classic dark ride
2. Elemental City - Water roller coaster attraction
3. Radiator Springs - Bring cars land from California and copy it to WDW
4. Inside Out - have a omnimover are attraction with interactive memory and educational on memories
5. Bugs Land - just for the true Disney Adults!!
Do a Jazz restraint/lounge for Soul
You can have Wall-E going around the park. Most of Pixar films have references within all the movies so they can easily have things roam around all over to keep that continuity alive!
I agree about the road signs.
We’re just going to end up with the Disney execs doing stand up at Disney land if we carry on at this rate

13:44 I am very upset about the trashcan color change and the color change of the road signs and etc. the design, research, craft and care that was put into this by sussman prejza co was timeless. The only thing dated about this was faded color and aging. My belief is that all of this could have stayed but just been repainted or refinished.
Imagine being more upset about trash cans getting a paint job, than Splash Mountain being gutted and rethemed in awful ways.
WE DONT NEED A 5TH PARK!!!! WE NEED WDW TO MAINTAIN THE PARKS THEY ALREADY HAVE. Hopefully them announcing new things at D23 is a good sign that they are committed to investing into parks that desperately need capacity.

An interesting idea but I know better than to get excited for pie in the sky. Better to be excited that TOM IS BACK at least for awhile.
I still have my Carousel of Products Sci-Fi Dine-In shirt, and love it.
That was old school Disney, and artist and designer John Hench was the master at color theory.
I agree with you. Everything is boring, especially Tiana's. Sick of it all.
You and Tom disagree about Tiana’s. He said in his review that he finds it on par with Splash.
I’m sure EPIC started being designed way over 10 years ago . I’d love to see Disney do a 5th park but will definitely take years until it could happen. They can’t just rush something together like the second park in Paris

The only reason I could excuse Avengers Campus is because they packed it with live entertainment
With the Hyperion dark and cutting atmospheric entertainment from buena vista street and AC, the front half of the park will feel dead
Most of this stuff was already allowed in the prior agreement. The new agreement allows way more office space to be built. Why would Disney need so much office space? Hmmmm, can you say relocate most of the business and possibly the headquarters to Florida!!!!!!!!
Do you have anything on your site with information on planning a Tokyo or Parus trip? Also, can you rent the ECV at either park? Thanks!
Imagine a whole new gate made by the people who did the Epcot overhaul 🤮
This is why they are making pre-emptive cuts and consolidating internally right now. All projects for IOA and Universal Studios are no delayed.
@@MrMac1138 correct delayed from the original time frame which had them already be started at this point to now not starting till after the completion of Epic, which as I stated makes perfect sense to focus all resources on Epics opening, we all can speculate about what attendance is going to be when this park opens but the truth is it has been over 20 years since a new theme park has opened in Florida (not counting Legoland or peppa pig and tourism is up to levels higher than pre pandemic it is safer to say it will be a success than a failure
