Hey man, thanks for all the help and info on the Kessy unit, got mine out and found the mosfat was indeed faulty, switch was wide open and draining my battery! After disconnecting my battery every night for 50 days it’s finally fixed! What a cheap fix for a monster problem hahah
Oh it’s annoying, I’ve got to do my personal Touareg now as it’s draining it too. Such a cheap and simple fix compared to replacing the whole kessy unit.
Mate thanks for all your videos! I to have multiple Vdubs, mainly Touareg’s. I do love all of them, although they like to test your patience as you clearly know! My V10 is my favourite but gives me the most dramas. Your videos have helped me heaps! Thank you very much! Aussie viewer👍
Thank you, they can definitely make like interesting but they are enjoyable vehicles.
Thank you, keep up the solid videos man I learned so much just now.
Thanks
If you're going to do this job you should really have a hot air rework station to put pinpoint heat in spots you actually want the heat
I like your video, and i hope to learn more
Good info, thanks for sharing!
Thanks
Thanks 👍
Thanks for sharing man...great content
Thanks hope it helped
I would love to figure out a way to by pass the steering lock...I take my treg to remote places and that lock failing always bothers me
Obrigado, falha resolvida
Hey brother, thanks for your video! you certainly know your stuff or at least make it look like it :) Iv got a similar issue with my car, same kessy fault codes same antennas, rear bumper, drivers and front passenger - but - mine say "UPPER LIMIT EXCEEDED" any idea what this means. I notice yours say "OPED OR SHORT CIRCUIT".
Any help is warmly welcomed. Im trying to find out why my battery is dying after only 8/10 hrs!! I also have a relay clicking continuously behind the dash somewhere once i lock and walk away from the car. Any ideas... Cheers brother !
No expert by any means but quite a bit of research from various pages all compiled into a video that fixed my issue (and hopefully others).
I'm not sure what the upper limit failure is compared to the open/short circuit, but it seems if there were multiple antenna failures at the same time that the module is usually the suspect. They come back after clearing and a test drive?
My personal Touareg started killing the battery overnight here a couple days ago so I'll be doing a PT.2 here to see what its issue is.
Josh, great video. Am here dealing with code 0003 on my 2004 Cayenne Turbo. 0003 indicates faulty control unit (electrical fault in the circuit). The car came equipped with entry and drive. Long shot of a question, but do you think this simple fix will cure the issue? I’d love to get it working again. Thanks!
I've got a buddy with an 04 touareg and he was told they weren't repairable with that fault. I'm not well versed enough on the topic to say yes or no, I'd personally try replacing the mosfets but I'm not sure if that'll help.
Thanks for video. Mune have same symptom. after replace the chips the fault code disappear? How about BATT drain? mine 0.06 metered when I check through multimeter.
yes but .06A is acceptable for a drain
Thank you very much for this video ! I will need just clarify couple things. During the diagnosis in addiction to error codes indicated in this video I had also these error codes:
00183 - Antenna 1 in the passenger compartment of the access control system and the right to start the engine- R 138
00184- Submission of a control signal to the engine start / stop button - But my start -stop button works fine with no issues.
Could you please inform me where to dig out the problem. Thanks
Hello.. great video.. very clearly instructions.. but I have 1 question. My kessy number is 3D0 909 137 D.
And is 433mhz .. 125 khz..
So.. are the components that you changed the same one for my unit?
Thanks a lot
Do I need to keep the Kessy module or can I just disconnect it and still isue the car with no issues, I am currently having a similar issue, just don't care for door sensors so be used ?
It needs to be installed to start the car as it’s part of the immobilizer system. But I believe I have seen people cut the mosfet legs as a way of disabling the sensors/drain.
How did you tested out those mosfets and resistors ? With multimeter? Because i have same problem and same fault codes in diagnostic.
Can you give me your email I wanna send you photo of my Touareg faults codes
joshthring21@live.ca, they have to be isolated from the circuit to test. Its quite common to fail, your can check out clubtouareg about other people having issues
hey Josh, do the defective antennas need to be disconnected so the problem doesn't reoccur? Greetings from Germany.
Curious of same question.
Hi! how advanced codereader/ diagnostic tool does it need to be?
Has to read the other controllers, vcds and obd11 is another option. I’d imagine any decent scan tool with the euro software should be good.
Hey I have a 2007 Touareg that keeps blowing the 3 bottom kessy fuse resistors. I have no battery drain that I am aware of. Do you know what each set of 3 fused resistors the kessy controls? Any idea what might be causing these fused resistors to fry? It's triggering a VCDS "Electrical Fault in Circuit". Thanks!!
Im not sure which one goes where but I’d imagine either a shorted wire or faulty antenna could be overloading them
@@JoshsJettas I solved my issue. Buried deep in a Renntech forum I found this little gold nugget:
Brit6 posted: "FYI...these resistors sit across the drain of the transistors, if the resistors are blown, it's because one of the mosfets is bad. Translation, replace everything at once (2 transistors and all 6 resistors."
I was installing a backup camera and accidentally shorted a wire somewhere (trying to measure resistance and was in the wrong setting on the multimeter...). Not sure where or how, but it broke my keyless push start and handle approach unlock. Looks like I fried a MOSFET and hence the fused resistors blew. Replacing both MOSFETs (not sure which one is tied to each of the group of 3 resistors), the 3 blown fused resistors, and clearing the stored codes by VCDS, I now have push start and handle-lock/unlock back! The post implied that a failed MOSFET will blow the fused resistors.
That’s great to know for future reference, it’s amazing the info out there about these things it’s just a matter of finding it.
Did it fix the antenna fault code? My Touareg has a fault for the rear antenna and I want to know if this will fix it before I replace it.
This one i believe had an actual antenna fault, the diodes would be failed open if its a diode fault.
Hey Josh I'm less than an hour from you...could I pay you to fix my kessy like this on my 05 v8? You can use my v8 for some content...or my other t3s...we have a 14 r line tdi with full stage 2...tune..3 inch straight pipe..bigger maf..bigger tip and intake...or the 12 tdi with lift and 33s...tuned and deleted too
Hey for sure, I’m not taking work on for the next month or so but I’d be good after that
@JoshsJettas awesome that works for me man. I appreciate it. I'd love to check out the v10 too..only touareg I haven't been in
@JoshsJettas hey Josh let me know how to contact you so I can get my touareg over when your ready.
@@JoshsJettaswould you please create a service for this? I would pay also? What's a fair price if we ship the kessy to you? I don't mind supplying parts
@Noel127 shipping to/from Canada is a killer, I’d personally try and find a local electronic repair shop and either tell them what you want replaced or buy the parts from
Mouser and show them
