I've just released after watching your interesting videos many times that the steering box on the M4 TVO NUFFIELD is completely different to later models. The penny dropped when you said a 2" oil seal, and its a smaller diameter seal on the M4. Keep up the good work, and happy tractoring👍
Bonjour de wallonnie, although I have a good command in English, I am not used of technical terms, anyway, as I am keeping a nuffield 3/45 since 1970,i am very interested in your very good videos
How can I adjust the clearance of the steering box? The rotation of the steering wheel shaft has clearance with respect to the output shaft of the steering box.
I have a 10/60 and when i steer to the right the wheel goes down and when i screw to the left the wheel screws up a bit, do i have to renovate the whole thing , or can i do it a easy and cheap way? Good video!
Robonthemoor it’s normal for the hydraulics to sink when the engine is off. If your lift is weak start by putting a pressure gauge in the outlet and measure pressure. Normal pressure is 2500psi
montegoson ok that sorts that out, I have new filters for it & will check the pressure. I also have a diesel leak on top of the injection pump! I believe that this can be sorted with a new seal kit! Do you have a video on doing that? Your videos are superb by the way. Ho & where can I buy a seal kit? It's a CAV pump.
Hi, I am a 19 years old boy from Italy, I am restoring an old Nuffield DM4 as a hobby but I'm having some issues with the steering, since I'm not that expert (I've never opened a steering box) it would be really helpful if I could ask you some questions about that... Do you have any contacts (email for example)? Thank you very much!
There's 2 calenders.. the dates on the one on the left of the frame then your camera girl just moves away from it and as she pans to the right, almost catches the picture but quickly straightens up.. but keep it up your slowly helping me rebuild my nuffy 😆👌 I do have a quick question tho.. is there away to tell which crankshaft is fitted i.e the scroll type or crank seal without taking off the clutch and flywheel as I'm currently stripping mine in the garden but don't have an engine hoist..

Hi Gaz, good to hear from you. You joined the Facebook group, I sent you a message!

Hi, Your 3/45 has a completely different steering box with ball bearings 😊
How can I adjust the clearance of the steering box? The rotation of the steering wheel shaft has clearance with respect to the output shaft of the steering box.
sorry, my english is a translator
It hurts that it is not observed well how the shaft is inserted. In Spain that slack is not allowed in the technical inspection of vehicles
Do you have any email or whatsapp contact where I can send videos of my problem in the Steering box
There is no facility for adjustment on this steering box. Adjustment was introduced with the 4/65. WhatsApp +447802571011

Just replace the bearing www.tractorspareparts.co.uk/atj1088-steering-column-bearing-p-929.html
Can you tell me the size of the reamer please.
First bush is 1.5 inch, second is 1 inch
I've got a Leyland 272 the hydraulic arm go down when the engine in off, & I have weak hydraulic lift not too bad, what's the common cause of this.
Robonthemoor it’s normal for the hydraulics to sink when the engine is off. If your lift is weak start by putting a pressure gauge in the outlet and measure pressure. Normal pressure is 2500psi
montegoson they also sink when I use the tipping point on a two way valve for constant pumping for the front loader it's on a spool valve.
Robonthemoor when using tipping pipe for loader the linkage receives no oil so will sink
montegoson ok that sorts that out, I have new filters for it & will check the pressure. I also have a diesel leak on top of the injection pump! I believe that this can be sorted with a new seal kit! Great video as always 👍🏻 what size reamers do I need if I haven't a clever stepped one like yours? Wanting to do the box on project Perkins - 10/60
1 1/2 at the big end and 1 at the small end
montegoson thanks Rick, keep up the good work, really enjoy your videos
Is that stepped one a proper bmc dealer tool?

(5.40)
How can you get the year from that slight view, you must have the same calendar!

Engines with suffix TD saw the introduction of the lip seal. eg 38TD & of course the 98 series
