fun fact that i learned: the Purple Meriva Calfskin is called Regalis Purple and Regalis is a Latin word for Royal so, another name for it is the Royal Purple Calfskin and it comes from Italy.
Funny you did this review. I ordered the red 52 from R.L. Allan finally got it last week. It was worth the wait and the price. This is my second allan (the first is an esv) and now probably my favorite bible. I love what they did with the 52. I don't have a 53 to compare, but some reviews say they cleaned up the print on the 52 also.
I love the text block, including the 10 point font. I just can't afford to purchase an Allan Bible though. Is there another Bible publisher that does something similar, with a faux leather cover for those who can't spend a huge amount of $$$? Fixed income old people can only dream about owning something as beautiful as this Bible. Just curious if a "value version" is out there for someone like me. Thank you for posting all of your reviews. You are one of the best!
Cambridge has some more affordable options of their vintage-style KJV Bibles like the Cameo, Concord, and Turquoise. There are SO MANY Bibles out there in the KJV, but many of them are more modern designs.
Really loving your Bible videos! I discovered Allan Bibles just recently and after thinking it over I got a Meriva Calfskin 52 Green KJV. Even having seen so many reviews I was just floored when I got it in my hands. It’s pliable and soft as silk. The red and gold is so stunning it feels so traditional and I just think of people in times before tv settling down in afternoons with their Bible in their best cozy chair and reading God’s Word. The ribbons are so lovely and the print is perfect. Even details as the gold on the inside all around is beautiful. I have never held a more well made bible in my life. I might have ordered a Ruby to take on the go already too 😅
Great review! I love the purple, was surprised that I’d like the blue gilding with it, but I do. I have never owned a KJV, and have really been thinking about getting one. I have to believe that God is going to give me enough time to read these Allan Bible’s I’ve purchased since watching your video’s. So, once again you have led me down the path of growing my stack of Allan Bible’s. This purple is too beautiful to pass up, and I really like the text format; so, it is waiting for me to purchase on June 1st! 💜
I have a first edition 43 in purple. It's blue under silver as well. I'm thinking.. should I?? Oh, this credit card is just begging to be used... LOL It will go so nicely with the 112 and the 7C I just got and since they didn't have the 7C in purple and I had to get black, well.... I think I can justify this purchase... @@ I agree that the purple is gorgeous. Everybody has blue and black or brown and sometimes red but purple is not as common.
Thanks for this awesome review Tim. I just wanted your suggestion. Which bible highlighter should I use for this bible? I'm scared to ruin this premium bible.
I love that color, however, you should have worn a brighter shirt to make the purple to POP out. Love that color, might be my next color to buy. I have a forest green and a blue in allen bibles.
That is a really nice Bible! And it has a chain reference in it too? Tim, what would you say your all-time favorite Bible is? (are you allowed to say that?)
Yes, it does! It’s hard to pick and all-time favorite, but I’d probably go with something special to me like the Four Holy Gospels Bible from Crossway and artist Makoto Fujimura (I have a review of it).
i ordered one Allan KJV 52 Longprimer some years ago... it was called Marocco binding or something, and it's very stiff, but thick covers... it feels kind of "oily" on the outside.... sort of a strange kind of thick leather, but very nice.... it has however never become one of my KJV reading bibles because the translators' notes are replaced with other marginal notes and also because the KJV feature of words in italics is missing, i.e. no words in italics... :)
Darn, that color scheme is spectacular and the print looks excellent but not having the full translators to the readers and having self pronouncing text ruled it out.
Looks cool . I do like the deep purple. The gilding and art gilding are awesome . Sense the cover is that deep purple I think they should call it the smoke on the water version. Blessings
Tim, I enjoy watching your videos so much. You really do a great job explaining the Bible’s you are showcasing. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much, Ellen!!
When I’m not studying or watching a sermon, I can watch your videos all day
Oh, thanks!!

I love it! 💜

Hi Tim, my 53 came this week. You’re right, Allan Bibles are as nice as you say. Great video, thank you.
Great to hear!!
Beautiful. Can't wait for my Navy Blue bible to arrive!
Nice!!
Beautiful fancy Bible ❤

Hey Tim, how many different numbers are there with the R.L. Allan Long Primer? I know of the 63, 62, 53, 52, and the 43.
Is that all of them?
Those are the standards. The also make the 53C pretty regularly. There was a 51 at some point. And occasionally their release some limited editions.

I’ve got a bunch of links in my new series called “A Year in the Bible” that were suggested by other viewers.
@@timwildsmith Thank you Tim! That was a quick response! God bless you :)
Hi Tim, Does the 52 have self pronouncing ? Thank you
Yes.

😂🤣😆
I don’t really do purple, but THIS?!
👍🏽
SAME. 💜
Do they have this in esv?
This looks great. The 52 G also looks really nice, the dark green calfskin with the light green ribbons.
It does!
That David Ramirez album, is a good album, thanks for suggesting it.
You're very welcome!!
Just beautiful! ❤️❤️
💜💜
Thank you Tim! I was waiting for this video😄I love the purple. Always so inspired by your videoes. (My bankaccount shows!!😉)
Hahah... sorry, Clara!!
Does Allan make a NIV Longprimer? Or have they ever in past???
Nope… the Longprimer is just a KJV design. But they have made NIV Bibles in the past that have more modern text blocks.
That is a really nice Bible! And it has a chain reference in it too? Tim, what would you say your all-time favorite Bible is? (are you allowed to say that?)

Ahh.. yes... I believe the original 52s were a calfskin Bible that had a paste-down liner, so they would have been much stiffer.
@@timwildsmith yes, you're right, it is paste down liner... i remember now it was called Marocco calfskin.... thanks.... :)
Tim, can you find me a new RL Allan NASB R1 ??????
They’ve got a new run scheduled to release later this year.
@@timwildsmith
And How about an RL Allan NKJV Reader Reference Bible...
Darn, that color scheme is spectacular and the print looks excellent but not having the full translators to the readers and having self pronouncing text ruled it out.
Pretty in purple
For sure!! 💜
Is there a ex 52 Allan Bible I can have
I’m not sure what you’re asking, Sharon.
If you had a extra 52 Allan Bible that I can have
Meriva leather scratches easily
It’s certainly softer.
It gives it character and shows you use it.

Hahaha. Smoke on the water!
