Also, that model of AL seems to have lost his Emotion Drive somewhere along the way, but judging by that double max damage crit at the end.. which was preceded by dodging MANY shots that should have ended him, he at least hasn't lost his vast amounts of amazing bullshit.
Yeah the EWRs don't use the spark template of voices, and I wanted mine to be distinct to some degree (Tho Julian is taken).

There’s some mods to deal with the “psychic” enemies that always head toward you despite being concealed.
True but atm I don’t wanna add them mid campaign, AI tweaks from personal experience could do with being left to campaign starts even when they say otherwise

Mutons have a counter attack. It's never ever a good idea to melee a muton, the risk of losing a soldier in the process is far to big.
I’ve meleed them before in this very series. Some of the early-game modded in variants aren’t packing it
OverEnglishMan The vanilla mutons don't always counter a melee attack. It is only a chance (quite a big chance) that the melee attack will be countered
@@TheSteve_1992 Indeed. A hit can kill/render a soldier unconscious. Simply not worth the risk.
They miss sometimes, and other times don't even counter. It's all a matter of luck.
Muton counterattacks happen at a 50% rate. If you're absolutely desperate to put one down with Rend and you have no Flashbangs, prepare to flip that coin.
This. This is what xcom is meant to be! Nail biting, heart palpitation inducing crunch from start to end fighting against the enemy, your mens lack of accuracy, and your own blinding incompetence all leading to the ultimate euphoric rush as the last baddie bites the bullet and your beleaguered warriors limp back home to recover. Before getting right back out there to do it again.

Exactly. Which is why I go with first guess and don’t min max every step (not that you can on turn timers like that which are designed to force you outta concealment)

Who on earth is the Elders' man inside XCOM? It's Dickens isn't it? Also this is, in my honest opinion, one of the best episodes you've made in quite a while. I'm impressed with the fact that you've beaten this mission while only losing 1 Squaddie. Praise the Full Cover!
Odd, I'd class this as one of the worst as it's drama focused over comedy
@@EditEdward The like-to-dislike ratio says otherwise. It's very much "your views may vary". With such odds, seeing someone make it despite the odds is enjoyable in its own way, although you'd naturally not be in a joking mood.
This series is not just enjoyable solely due to the comedy. This tell a story, the story of a descent into mod-infested(at this point there are enough mods to be called an infestation) hell, made in an already punishing game. Seeing wholly unprepared mens(honestly who could blame them) trying to slug their way from the chaotic mess back to safety(back to base).
The like dislike isn’t accurate until a good couple weeks in. The splinter cell who auto dislike all my content need to be informed of the upload first. Usually a vid is 100:0 L:DL and then it mutates over time. We’ll see!
@@EditEdward Keep in mind that some of the dislikes are people who have no interest in your channel, and are trying to teach the youtube algorithms to stop sending them your way. The curse of a popular product is that youtube will try to force people with no interest in XCOM towards your channel.
I really wish there was a way to make a "hidden dislike" that discouraged that only affected what youtube recommends to me without hurting the channel I happen not to like.

I loved this episode. I sorta laughed and cried several times. As you hit reaper to have him do nothing, as you were surrounded by people but still were hitting skull jack. I was sitting there going... oh, he forgot what that does, this will be fun. When you saw that you could get one of them up and were like, I'll wait till next turn, in my head I was like, that's not gonna happen. I love this, it's how XCOM goes, with that 95% chance to hit, nope, miss, kinda feeling. I think it goes back to the part where the guy winked at you, sorta like, fyi, you pushed your luck a bit far, gonna have some fun with you on this one. Can't wait to see part 2
Actually the heal wouldn't have raised them, as it was a heal not a stabilise, I legit got that wrong.

I have 32k subs and barely break 1k views on most videos non XCOM or SoW (because those two draw on pre-existing audiences and shout-out audiences only interested in one specific series and nothing else I make).

5k from Marvel Hamilton who disappeared
20k from Moana Star Wars.
Basically we're a 2k sub channel getting buried by the very success everyone celebrated would "launch" me lol
You can press F1 when aiming down, it will pull up the information of that particular enemy. When not aiming down pressing F1 will bring up your own soldiers information (eg - what skills they have, what weapons are they using, what mods is on the weapon and etc)

i really like the akimbo pistol class, it's even one of the very few (and only one i know of) that has an introduction-scene like the vanilla classes when you first promote them.
it's also a rather unique ability tree

I knew what would happen as soon as you pressed the Reaper button and yet I laughed my ass off.
Well considering I’ve meleed them before in this playthrough I foolishly assumed I could do it.
Apparently it’s based on whether their armor is shredded or not (according to another comment) and I just had been lucky
Also - it depends on the armor, and also on percentage. If the hit isn't 100%, Muton will parry the hit.
Rend is always 100 so this time it’s armor. Gotta admit I like there being such an organic mechanic
@@EditEdward I always thought the parry chance was a flat percentage so after I got parried the first time, I refrained from ever engaging a muton in melee again. Well, guess I learned something new.

OMG i discovered muton's counter the exact same way, i had it all set up with a few enemies low and was my first time with the double bladed dudes, i was like "oh they can chain kill? AWESOME! start with the muton!" counter and ded.
BTW thats not a mod, its a basic skill that regular Mutons have and probably all Muton mods have (unless the modder changed it) so be careful around all Mutons.
A friendly warning from a Melee fan.
The modded in early-mutons don't have as high a chance, and even vanilla mutons do it based on if their armor is shredded. So I HAVE meleed them before, but never knew about the counter as I've always shredded first lol

Incase you want to make things even more crazy, there’s a mod that gives the Chosen Ruler-like reactions.
There is, but it can play a lil weird mid-campaign so I’m reluctant to add it at least until we’re near the point of no return after which it’s record to the ending or crash

A tribute to a fallen warrior.
Cue either 'Origins' by Hammerfall or 'Hymn of The Immortal Warrior' by Manowar, I think that it would fit.
He could feel the life leaving him, his armor was torn into little more than glimmering pieces of scarlet soaked metal that lay scattered around him, the monster that had held him in its grasp gazing down at him with a cold and unfeeling stare, no satisfaction and no malice for the small fly that lay on the ground, only a cruel apathy and in that moment he knew it was not the armored Viper gazing at him but the Elders themselves. He could feel the coldness of death overcoming, the warmth leaving him and soaking the snow and ash covered floor beneath him, the snowflakes falling through the demolished wall landing on his face one of the few sensations that registered in his mind as the light began to fade. His head rolled to the side in time to see one of his fellow comrades...no his friends being dragged across the snow covered space between the two buildings by the same viper that had held him in place for his death via its tongue, he heard the beast let out a grunt as a blade slashed across the armor prompting a spurt of blood to erupt from the slash that had torn its way across the armor, the wound only delaying the beast as it pulled GraceWalker into it cold embrace. His life was leaving him and yet...he felt no fear for his own life, but rather concern for his friends, his fellow warriors in arms in their war against this darkness. He knew that the luck they had been living on for so long was bound to run out but...not like this...their story couldn't end here.
The scales were unbalanced, and if they remained so than he knew that his friends would soon join him on the other side. He couldn't let that happen, he couldn't let them all die here, there was so much that they were needed form so many more fights to win and lives to save. The darkness had grown to where only the pale moonlight was visible to him, he could feel himself leaving behind his torn shell, drawn to that lustrous silver beam and the promise of the great and wild unknown that lay beyond, and yet...he couldn't go not yet...he would wait there at the gates for them...the gates of whatever awaited these brave and foolhardy warriors...but not until he knew they were safe that they would live. As he fought against the blackness, he felt something in his otherwise sensory deprived state, he had not even been able to feel the dirt and debris as they fell onto him like droplets of rain, a hand resting on his shoulder. Cold and yet warm at the same time, a strangely comforting feeling.
"What keeps you here, child?" A voice that seemed to echo from everywhere and nowhere at once met his ears, it was at once male and female, old and young, a child's soft and high voice, a lovers gentle whisper, a fathers stern and yet kind tone, a mother's warm and soothing voice, a grandparents wise and knowing tone, and a long away friends pleasant voice returning after so long away, all this and more was made into a voice that was at once horrible and beautiful. He could feel the compassion within the voice, the kindness of a guardian asking their ward how they felt after seeing them pause at the doorway into their home in uncertainty after moving to a new home. He couldn't speak, he couldn't even begin to utter a word in the face of this being so instead he called to mind every image of his friends that he could in his mind, and the struggle that they were locked in.
"...I see. Perhaps I can ease your pain," The voice spoke up again the chorus of countless tones and voices soothing him as he listened to the being. "I can not promise that they will all live, I am inevitable and, inevitably, they will be made to stand before me...but...I respect the courage to continue on even in the face of impossible odds, it's one of those things that I have come to admire about you mortals so much; your wills. And as such, I will promise you that you may go on ahead and wait for them at the gates of whatever paradise awaits you and your fellows. I will guide them all to you when the time comes for them, so you go on and make sure that their ready for you and yours because the last thing I need is angels yelling and whining about the chaos you and yours are causing for them. Hehe."
His lips quirked up into a smile as well, a small chuckle echoing in his mind as he found himself feeling comforted by the beings promise. "Thank you," he thought to it.
The beings voice echoed once more, now a single lone voice, a male's, calm and yet powerful like the calm before a hurricane. The tone giving away genuine warmth as the being lifted its hand from his shoulder and gave him a mock push on his back as it, or rather he, spoke.
"Hehe. You are quite welcome, now go on, get. Make sure you tell those feather dusters about what's heading their way and that they should start busting out the construction equipment and armor as soon as they can. Like I said, I'll make sure your friends live through this one, and if their luck has turned so bad that even I can't give them a stay of execution, that at least they arrive with you...actually if what I've seen is anything to go by I might want to go ahead and make sure they live even if I have to stuff their souls back into their bodies and keep them there with duck tape, because as it is Heaven would be in ruins in just a few minuteness with all of you there. Maybe one or two more will; follow you soon, but I think you will find that the rest of your comrades will be quite awhile behind you, they have a lot of things to do after all." With that the voice seemed to fade as it went to look over his friends. He found himself standing on a thin silver beam of moonlight, his appearance what it was before his stomach was torn open and the sight of a great and radient golden light before him. Smiling he started to walk towards it, knowing his friends would be alright.
