    Well, Edelbrock's casting quality is about the same as my own. The difference is that I do it as a hobby out of my garage.

    Nice! Great to see some more Mopar on your channel!

    Great job! I hope at some point you go further and open up the pinch and mid runner. Limited room in width at the pinch. But although not normally a good idea. I have had good results tearing out the ramped floor to gain area and blend it back in so it looks more like a original cast sbc floor. Also please explore the small area of the chamber between the plug boss and deck. They can be flow sensitive there.
    Great quality videos. Thank you Eric.

    Great job Eric! Nice to see "the other guy's head" as Richard Holdener would say. I'm inspired more and more every video I watch. Anybody ever give you an Oldsmobile head to do? I have a feeling it would be much like the 440 head. Not a great combustion chamber.

      There is a version of the Edelbrock Olds PERFORMER RPM with a heart shaped chamber. They are generally shown as bare without valves

    And THAT stuff is exactly the kind of thing that the HIP(Hot Isostatic Pressing) process eliminates, which is most certainly why Edel started offering it for their higher performance heads(that are going on higher power engines).

    Awesome info Eric , thank you. How much do you think could be gained by opening up the pushrod pinch by .030"..? worthwhile in your opinion ? I'm asking because , although not ideal, I'm using the Promaxx version of these heads on my 505 ci build. Would more than .030" be beneficial if the material removed was biased to the port divider ?.. to avoid breaking through on the pushrod side .. ?

    Quick question buddy I try to watch all the videos that you do with small block and big Block Mopar,. Have you ever did a review on the Edelbrock Victor small block? I’m looking to build a four 435 cubic inch small block using the Ritter block wouldn’t be able to make 700 hp with the Edelbrock Victor head.

    Since stock Mopar heads flow so little why do all the aftermarket heads improve on stock but still do not flow as well as say Chevy? Are they afraid to go for broke and make a really good head?

    Do you know how much valve spring seat preasure I need for a 600 lift solid flat tapet cam BB mopar ? There
    is a foundry in Reading Pa that did some heads . I did some work for them 15 years ago . I cant remember what kind. I didnt like going there . We put another over head crane in. They tryed to give me a job doing there maitenence . I passed ! It was to hot working there !

      Usually 125-140# seat pressure is adequate. A Comp #925 or Isky 8005A is a good place to start.

    Just got a question why don't ya put tulip valve on intake and a nail head on exhaust.as a tulip valve has better flow characteristics with curve near fillet has a easy or better turn around the valve I call it ski jump effect.and a nail head on exhaust so lessons they effect off reversion or makes it harder for the air or burned gas to dilute the fresh incoming charge.thats how I do it what do ya think thankyou.peace

    Ever flow a head with seats cut using Goodson HP cutter set? Curious to see if it gains the 20 cfm they claim and if a custom cut would beat it.

    Would it be worth it to weld up the push rod pinch point and get offset rockers?

    Weird. These are open chamber heads. Why is and why does Mopar/Edelbrock use them when every other engine uses some form of a quench head ?

    • @garydavies5973
      @garydavies5973 2 года назад

      These heads are an closed chamber design with quench pad. just not a heart sharp like maybe you are used to seeing.

    IMO, as per the intended application, with a cleanup it's a 600 hp Street Head.
    Just say'in here.....
    that I believe same as the Stealth, both are cost oriented and pretty obviously NOT targeting a more 'race' oriented clientele ?
    Which those people will go TF240/270/INDY's/B1 or even a Predator Head for the lower numerical BB Mopars Race efforts ?

    Heat distribution & hot spots in that head . It continued to be manufactured when it should have failed bare cast test

    Edelbrocks casting’s are horrible. I chose Speedmaster bare heads over Edelbrock Mopar heads cause the castings are the best you’ll see!

    • @theoriginalmungaman
      @theoriginalmungaman 2 года назад

      @port nut Edelbrock has a lot of quality control issues. I bought a carb that had an 1/8” of play on the throttle shaft’s. I compared the Speedmaster heads side by side with Edelbrock that my buddy stocks and the Eddies have masive core shift!
