This is a must have book, one of my favorites adventures I've ever read.

I totally agree! At the very least, in PDF form, every OSR GM should get this.

Great review. I'm reading the module right now and preparing for run it. It's a little trick because Gabor uses unusual words and I'm not a native english speaker, but I'll try even so.

It's definitely worth the effort! Such a great dungeon! :)

Was tempted until I see that shipping is 60% the cost of the book! I'll stick with my PDF copy

Yeah, if you can ever find it in a US FLGS get it. But...that's not usually gonna happen. I think it's $150 with maps at Noble Knight and they're a good benchmark. PDF is the way to go unless you're a mad collector like I am. :D

Where can I find those blank maps for players? I don’t see them anywhere.

They came in a manilla folder when I bought the book in print. I think you can get them on the website maybe?

Thank you for the excellent review! I love how you go through the book! Also I dig how you display it to the camera! That's really helpful and pleasant to follow.
This has been on my radar for a good while and you just made the case for it crystal clear. It's a must have megadungeon and it sounds like the kind of rpg fun that's totally in my alley!

You're welcome - thanks for the encouragement! It means a lot!!
100% agree - if you're into the megadungeon format, and you like the whimsy/creepiness blend it's a perfect fit.

@@RedMageGM I'm all new to the megadungeons. Didn't really do them in the olden days of BECMI and 2nd ed either. I tried Barrowmaze with one group a few years ago when I was shifting to OSR but I think no one was ready for that yet.
I was torn between finally getting Barrowmaze physical copy or the new Tome of Adventure Design but now Castle Xyntillan is another strong contestant 😅
Oh and you're most welcome! Your style of reviews/page throughs really helpful!

I see - that makes sense! Well, don't get me wrong - I love Barrowmaze and I think the Tome of Adventure Design is a cool resource...but Xyntillan is my fav, so that's my recommendation. :)

@@RedMageGM I take your word for it! 😁 There's no harm in having a number of adventure sites and megadungeons in a sandbox setting. I mostly run groups i. Dolmenwood the last few years and try to stuff everything in there.
Barrowmaze was actually even mentioned in the Wormskin zines for Dolmenwood which is why I picked the pdf originally and adapted it to that setting.
Xyntillan seems much more varied and the flavor fits right into Dolmenwood. Also the more role-play focused content is great! It will likely take a little more effort to adapt but that's also part of the fun.

@@paavohirn3728 I have all 3 of those and Castle Xyntillan is the best out of the 3 by a country mile. (and my current game is a barrowmaze game i dropped xyntillan into)

I think you can buy it direct from the EMDT website (but shipping is really expensive). At least, it still lets me add the print copy to my cart.

Shipping is 28 dollars to the US? Why on Earth is it that much for one book?

It's sent from I think Poland, so international shipping.
