- Tennessee and Mississippi State played the first game of their 3 game series in the 2022 College Baseball Season.

I love seeing people complain about how small their ballpark is and that’s “the only reason they hit homeruns”. Yet the other team can’t seem to do the same, their homeruns still clear the fence by 40-50 feet, and the hit 7 homeruns in one game at the opponents ballpark. What excuse do y’all have now?
They’re gonna say that the vols have corked/loaded bats.

Six Mississippi State pitchers took the mound against Tennessee tonight.
All six of them allowed at least three earned runs in.
As a Vols fan - wow. Incredible stuff. Like watching someone play a video game. There was no letting up. Crazy.

This is probably the best team in college baseball history, wow, they just blow everything out.
I’m not a Tennessee fan but I have to give them credit where it’s due, almost every year the most talented team doesn’t end up in the finals. Teams will start getting hot but if it just went based off talent Tennessee would have it no question. 1-9 can change a game with 1 swing and the pitching staff is almost as good if not better than vanderbilts was last year.
They're playing great but to say they are the best team ever is a stretch. What about 2001 Miami, 2019 Vandy, '95 CSF, '83 Texas? That Texas team had 4 starting pitchers who went on to pitch in the mlb including Roger Clemens. Im not taking anything away from this Vols team but let's wait until the season is over before saying things like that.

Best college team I've ever seen. Best pitching staff, by far, I've seen...including vanderbilt of past years with price, walker butler, Kyle wright, liter, etc.
The Vols just handed MS State their largest loss in program history, my God they just didn't let up lol

@@ds--pu1tv I believe it has to be an agreement between both schools to use a mercy rule. At least that's how the non-conference games are. Because those sometimes end after 7 innings if the lead is more than 10 runs. But that's only if the teams agree to end it. I don't know if those rules apply for Conference play.
@@ds--pu1tv mercy rule has to be agreed upon before the game by both teams. 2 SEC teams are not going to agree on a run limit.
Man by far the biggest nailbiter of the year, I was at the edge of my seat the whole game. I’m happy in the end The Big Orange squeaked out a win. Nice job competing Mississippi State, I love to see teams go hard until that very last pitch.
With that many guys hitting that many Homer's you'd think the guys that didn't hit one were underperforming.

This is honestly one of the greatest college baseball teams I have ever seen. Maybe the best. I honestly can’t believe how unbelievable they are. Everyone in their lineup, 1-9 can take you deep. They have an amazing rotation with Chase Burns as their Ace and a great bullpen. It’s scary how complete their team is…

Not to take anything away from Tennessee, clearly the best team in the country, but once you build a 15 or 20 run lead in the late innings, time to empty the bench. There's no reason stars like Ortega should still be in the 8th inning padding stats or trying set records. Have some class.

Why does Tennessee not bring in backups?
They put in as many backups as they could, travel rosters are smaller than what you can have at home, so there are only so many guy's you can replace.

Being a State Alum, I’m PRO SEC, but what is truly the lesson the Vols head coach was seeking with this type of result? This is not quality behavior of one who is building a program towards a championship. I could be wrong here, but Coach Belichick’s remedy for a slice of humble pie 🥧 may be an option. No regrets taking the oath to defend the Constitution over the last 32 years, as what I meant to say was, if the roles were reversed for the outcome, I would believe State is better than that, as 1st Amendment is right, which I seen a few over the years take their last breathe to sacrifice. Life is so much more then agreeing to disagree over the outcome of a sports event. Hail State & Go Dawgs. 🇺🇸
The lesson? So, it’s Tennessee’s fault that miss state played so poorly? What are they supposed to do? Bunt? Pitch underhand? You are placing the blame in the wrong dugout sir. Tennessee is really good. State this year just isn’t.
as a baseball fan, why would a team punish their own stats when the other team isn’t doing what they need to do to end the game? kids are taught to run through first base, you’re taught to play through the whistle on a play in football. in baseball, you play 9 innings. tennessee plays all 9. if you don’t like it, forfeit. I’m over all this “have pity on us because we suck” mindset. programs rise and fall. you’ll have your shot.
