It never ceases to amaze me how well you shoot double action revolvers and especially at that distance. Truly amazing. Keep up the great work and videos. 👍🏻
I saw a new model Colt Python just like this one in a local gun store. I don’t remember who, where, or when someone let me shoot their Colt Python many years ago, but when I cocked the hammer on this new one, the feel of the action came back to me. I thought about it for a week, then went back and bought it. It now is both my range practice tool and my EDC.
I tucked my 4.25" into a 686 IWB appendix holster and I was amazed how well it carried for being an stout 42oz and having target grips. I Frame service grips or similar would make it even easier. It's absolutely no trouble OWB or in a slight drop duty holster. I'm seriously considering making it my go to sidearm for rifle training classes and open wilderness/enduro/horseback carry. Looks insanely cool just sitting there on your hip vs a plastic fantastic gun
@@onseki1774 Agreed! I got one for a formal wedding/barbecue gun, and hope to get an alligator hide holster from Southern trapper because it deserves a beautiful showcase of a holster. I am surprised how accurate I am with the 4 1/4” on this factory revolver!
I brought an old version back in 1978 brand new with 6" barrel for $325.00 and I shot few rounds of it. I really like Python and watch the man try to sell one of them back to the shop and got $250.00. I tried to get one and write to Hartford, Plant then wait for distributor put it on sale. I like the gun and I still collect Old Python and I think is much better deal than spending many thousands dollars buying a stock that loosing value every year like my parents did back in 1978.
I just shot a 6 inch and a 3 inch barreled colt python new model last Friday at the Range. They were my buddies, and I had never shot either one of them before. I shot 357 magnum 158 grain and 38 special as well. I was thoroughly amazed at the accuracy of both of the revolvers. The 3 inch had no problems with accuracy and I could easily handle the slight additional recoil of the 3 inch barreled version. I was thoroughly impressed. The only issue I had it all was trying to figure out where the best place for my left and non-shooting hand should go where it fit comfortably. The trigger guard is kind of big, but even with a slight uncomfortable hold I was still able to shoot this thing amazingly well. Very impressed with the balance and accuracy. I would highly recommend one of these revolvers to anybody

I bought the 6" model and upgraded the sights to the Wilson Combat rear sight and the gold bead front sight. I find the 2020 Python to be a real quality firearm and good looking as well. The double action stacks a little and the single action is a crisp 5 LBS break even after honing the tool marks and polishing the bearing surfaces. Enjoyed the video and watched it two times. Nice shootin.
I have a 3” model Python. I just installed a gold bead front sight from Wilson Combat. I was already accurate with the OEM front sight but the gold bead helped me improve my double action accuracy quite a bit. Amazing gun; great video.
If I lived in Kentucky, I would volunteer to help you on the range. Thank you for reviewing this pistol. I cannot wait to see you with a Henry Big Boy revolver.
Right & left handed, very nice shooting Buff, and double action at that. You just can't underestimate the visual appeal of a .357 revolver, they look fantastic. Now that Colt have released the model again, it's a top contender to replace my tired old 686. Thanks for sharing.
I was lucky enough to get one of these recently and it rapidly became my favorite gun. I did switch out the sights for Wilson Combat sights and they drastically improved the sight picture. Nice shooting!
Just bought this revolver 4 hours ago. Thought i would be spoiled by the original, but this is the best DA trigger ive ever owned. To learn to shoot DA...SHOOT DA!
Awesome revolver and awesome video. It has revived my interest in the Colt python. I own the Ruger redhawk 357 and it is one of the best firearms that I have ever owned. The 357 is about my favorite round for a all around shooting weapon, as I said, I have the Ruger redhawk, I have the Henry bigboy lever action 357, the Taurus 357, and now I am going to look into the colt python 357. I own several other rifles shotguns and sidearms in different calibers but you just can't beat a 357
357. Still relavent as ever in 2024 💪 only reason i'd go 44. is if i was in well populated Grizzly territory. Alaska most notably. I wouldn't see a 180 grain buffalo bore 357. Not stopping black bears down south.
I really like my 6" Python...it's also a 2023 production. The most recent issue I've heard of is the sights losing zero easily. Wilson Combat offers a (nice!) aftermarket set if mine end up being a pain...but so far so good. Thanks for another terrific video!
I got one of these a few months ago. I never really cared for revolvers until I tried this thing. The double action is amazing and the easiest I have ever shot. I enjoy shooting it more than any other handgun. It is also awesome to plink with .38’s and then have the option for a serious cartridge.
Great video, Buff! 👍 Especially enjoyed seeing the Python perform as a can opener, except for your T-shirt breaking out in a case of measles at the same time.
Smooth DA action helps and a lot of dry fire practice in front of the TV help… A large part of the technique, at least for me, is in using my weak side hand for secure retention of the firearm, and my strong side is solely for squeezing through the trigger like I’m squeezing a ball.
Buffalo Great video as always. I've been shooting Pythons for the last 30 years and was so happy when Colt resumed production in 2020. I have one new Python in each barrel length and really like the new design. There are plenty of youtube commandos out there talking total trash about the new Colt revolvers. Either they're from another country and don't have any legal access to one or they're from the states and have never even touched a new Colt revolver let alone shot one. Either way, it's a sure way to confirm they don't know what they're talking about. I have a number of S&W and Ruger DA revolvers and are some of my favorites. The new Colts however are in another whole new high grade category.
@buffalosoutdoors I've had this 4.25 Python for probably over a year now, don't fire it much but it's quality is nice. I've had 5 revolvers at one time, but got rid of 3. Now just have that one and 686+ with 7 rd cylinder and 5 inch barrel. Those are the keepers
I been watching all sorts of colt Python videos before my purchase and none of them gave me this good of a perspective. Appreciate the solid & entertaining content!
It wasn’t my first choice to be honest. I wanted something prettier, with more rounds and newer materials, scandium and titanium. But I walked into the gun shop, saw the 3” inch Combat Elite model and just tried it in my hands….pulled the trigger and I was sold. I walked out with it and couldn’t be happier. Also can the trigger be "Staged" with the cylinder being indexed?
