@@sheffboi1 I thought it was alright, I lived in the student areas, Hunter's Bar, Crookes etc. I grew up near Selby near York which was way worse lol. Not horrific but nothing to do.My family were from Sheffield as well - Dad from Stradbroke & mum from Worrall.
Skiba would have killed off any scene with his talents and we were blessed to have him as one of our junglist/d'n'b soldiers. A staple MC at the biggest and best raves and a headliner himself. His flow was just (and still is) immense.
Hyper D & Skibadee both gone, decades apart but at least Hyper D died during the golden age and would get a ‘put your lighters in the Air’ moment which was a great sign of respect that Hyper D would have proud of. The last few events I went to lately I did the same when Skibadee was mentioned, and I was the only one doing it, which is sad. I love Hyper D sets still but Skibadee, in my opinion, kept getting better and to hear him on Super Sunday Kool FM was crazy, he was even faster on radio. Two absolute legends, both sorely missed and Shabba D is still going but is not the same, still good enough though. At least Fearless, Det, GQ and Moose are still representing but I still miss Fat man D, Foxy and all the others who would mostly turn up late at the rave. R.I.P Hyper D & Skibadee, you were massive parts of my life growing up even though Hyper D died just before what would have been my first rave but we were all so upset we didn’t go. But man, didn’t Skibadee step up, and Shabba too. Big respect to the Kool Fm crew, Terry Turbo and everyone else who contributed to the golden age of D&B, and to my fellow ravers, we were part of something special that will never be matched on a underground level again. Always loved you skibba d we qued up even cried to get into to yer birthday party and sis got us in ! The biggest inspiration particularly I found my viable vocal range depth with how in sync I was with skibba 💕friends eternally even in afterlife rip beaut 😪❤️
