- During the summertime months, the Strasburg Rail Road is busy operating steam powered trains between East Strasburg and Paradise, Pennsylvania. As the summer season comes to a close, the rolling fields bloom with vibrant shades of green foliage and a bright, warm sunlight from above illuminates the endless land. Traversing the un-spoiled territory is Norfolk & Western 4-8-0 "M" Class #475 and Canadian National 2-6-0 E-10-a #89 hauling traditional and shorter excursion trains. Over some of the final weekends of the summer months and the beginning of fall 2022, we document these two locomotives as they travel across the Amish countryside in a spectacular show of steam and sound, featuring the whistles of a Southern Pacific 6 chime on 475 and a Pennsylvania 3 chime on 89. Please sit back and relax as we follow "The Amish Countryside Expedition" with 475 & 89 captured for your enjoyment by Keystone Rail Productions!
History of N&W 475:
Norfolk & Western 475 is a 4-8-0 "M" class locomotive built in 1906 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, PA. She would be delegated to haul heavy freight and coal trains. Later in her career, she would be replaced by larger locomotives and work on various branches along the N&W's trackage. After completing a faithful 50 years of service, she was retired in 1956. After being saved from the scrappers torch in 1980, the locomotive exchanged hands with many owners, and was finally purchased by the Strasburg Rail Road Company in 1991 and was restored to operating service in 1993. In 2018, she was set to undergo a mandatory 1,472 day inspection, and was returned to service in late 2019 with a centered headlight. She continues to serve the Strasburg Rail Road in reliable service today.
History of CN 89:
Canadian National 89 is a 2-6-0 mogul that was built in 1910 by the Canadian Locomotive Company for the Grand Truck Railway as No. 1009, and was designated as a E-10-a. In 1919 she was then renumbered to 911. In 1951, after the Grand Trunk Railway merged into the Canadian National Railway, the locomotive was once again renumbered to 89. She was one of the many steam workhorses that could be found operating for the CN in service. In 1965, she was sold to the Green Mountain Railroad. Then in 1972, 89 was sold to the Strasburg Rail Road, where she resides today pulling passenger and freight services reliably.

Description error: It says Special thanks to the crews of 90 and 89 not 475 and 89.
That whistle at 17:50 though is amazing!
You are correct in that observation!
Got the 2472 and 3751 vibes anyone?
Oh yeah, now I can hear it
This might sound like an obvious question but do you plan on returning to the Everett railroad in the future?
One day, stay tuned…
Fantastic presentation ❤ great video coverage. Loved the no talking camera footage.
Did you walk down from Leaman Place to get to that shot at 15:59? Or did you access it from a road near by? Thanks.
This location was accessed using railroad property and permission through paradise.
