  • Today I show you how to de-winterize your irrigation system in spring. It’s something that is super easy to do, yet a lot of people pay somebody else to do this for them. It’s three easy steps, and you are good to go for the entire season. If you happen to have a head that needs replacing, I link a video that I did a couple seasons ago showing you how to replace a sprinkler head. That is super easy as well. This will save you $70 a season for having to pay somebody else to come out and turn the water on for you. Thank you for watching, don’t forget to subscribe, and good luck to you this season!

    Good tips! Wish I actually had an irrigation system 😝. Proper maintenance is key to a functioning system. I left my above ground setup out too late last year and I had one of my hunter pro sprays crack right down the middle, so I’ll be replacing that soon and adding a few more to the mix. Are you running boosted pressure or anything like that? Or is the system just straight off the house?

    • @RVALawnLove

      @DIYDad1 3 года назад +1

      @@RVALawnLove nice. Yeah I used a hose end timer the last couple of seasons. I think my pressure is okay but i can’t run more than 3 or 4 sprinklers at a time without losing too much output. I know some people run pumps or pressure boosters or whatever if they have large zones. Was just curious!

    What is the white pipe sticking out of the ground that goes nowhere that is in between the water control and the backflow preventer. The reason I’m asking the On mine is loose when I turn the water on a little water came out of that. I’m highly assuming that I should screw that on tight. Is that correct.

    I’ll respectfully disagree with you regarding the simplicity of start up. Your back flow device requires annual testing by a certified inspector. Also, a good irrigation company will carefully inspect every aspect of the system to ensure proper irrigation. Let’s face it, on city water you’re paying for every drop. It should operate efficiently without any waste.

    • @cvick7084
      @cvick7084 3 года назад

      Not every locale requires the backflow to be certified and certainly not required where you use a dedicated deep well as we do in Virginia Beach. Even so, you can still have an irrigation company certify your backflow but dewinterize it yourself as this video demonstrates. Assessment by a professional is basically a quick look for leaks at each sprinkler head and adjustment of spray (which is very easy to do yourself). After watching a pro start my system one time, I have done it myself for the last 20 years
