    It took a bit to understand all that was going on but this was a fun project! Do you have unused security system sensors in your home?

      terminals 6 and 7 are data terminals, not an alarm zone

    I got my 12 zone panel (2x 6) recently. Got it all setup with former pre-wired ADT system using Home Assistant. Pretty happy with it

    I have been waiting for a way to hook up my existing sensors in my home to home assistant. I think this is the way to go.

    Great video, I would go and buy it, but I have a wireless alarm system

      I was really hoping my wireless door sensors would work. But looks like I just have to upgrade to SmartThings devices.

    Thanks for this, I'm in the middle of trying to understand my old school wired alarm, while converting to a more wireless smart home setup. I too almost ripped it all out before knowing I can use some of the components with these conversion kits. Have you checked your door frames for embedded magnet sensors. I found these on my home nearly hidden and painted over used with the old wired alarm.

    Now you have taken all the zones off your old panel, you could likely just remove the old panel from the wall completely.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  4 года назад +2

      That's the plan. I have slowly been removing tons of cables and items from that room that are no longer needed.

    I would remove the boards from the metal enclosure box and mount the new boards in there. There just circuit boards so they should be mounted in an enclosure instead of out in the open.

    I believe, it will be cheaper to buy up-to-date sensors than paying $229 for Konnected conversion kit, unless someone sends me a free unit.

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  4 года назад +1

      I was surprised at how much new pire motion sensors costs compared to Smart things sensors. This certainly is most beneficial if you already have many wired sensors.

    • @Konnected-io
      @Konnected-io 4 года назад +4

      The Konnected kit starts at $99 USD for 6 zones/sensors. If your home already has wired sensors like Brett's, it's definitely better value and aesthetic to use those that you already have wired in the walls. Don't forget that new sensors are going to be wireless and need new lithium batteries every 6-12 months, which adds to the lifetime cost.

    No thanks.

      Our 6-zone conversion kit starts at $99 USD. I don't think the exchange rate is THAT bad!

    what's the point. Insurers probably insist on an approved product and service contract so...

    • @TechWithBrett
      @TechWithBrett  4 года назад

      This does not require a monthly fee like other security Services. So for simple monitoring it does the job.

    • @marktime61
      @marktime61 4 года назад

      Tech With Brett fair comment. It’s just that it wouldn’t be acceptable to insurance companies in the U.K.
