Thanks, we have had the original for 4 years and love it. Now the misses wants to upgrade to the newer keypad. Lol. Cameras are super nice upgrade as well as the smoke alarms. Thanks for sharing.
You can do all of this with systems that do not have monthly subscription and alert your cell phone. Maybe a bit more expensive up front but cheaper in long run.
I own and use simplisafe as well. Some things I have learned, even properly installed motion detectors at the correct level will still occasionally be set off by pets, I have a cat, so I disabled my motion detectors. The cameras seem to suck most of the time, video constantly freezing, lots of lag and I have excellent high speed internet, I stream TV wirelessly all the time with no issue. Cameras would be better if you could attach an Ethernet cable instead of wireless I expect, but nothing about simplisafe is hardwired, so no bueno. The video doorbells I have not tried yet, maybe they work better. I also have glass break sensors along with a smoke detector. Another thing, if you get the monthly plan with monitoring, you can add devices and administer the whole system via the internet and it works very well, they also have an app for your phone works works well. If you don’t get the monthly plan you configure the system using an included usb drive and then you plug the usb drive into the base station and it uploads the configuration. Monitoring plans can be started and stopped at any time, can turn on monitoring when you are gone in vacation and unsubscribe from it the following month, pretty cool actually. I have the original system, wrangler Star here has the new system, a bit different and with more range I believe.
You are so straight forward, to the point, informative and sincere!! Thank you!! I'm forwarding this to some friends of mine right now. Keep doing what you're doing! :)

@@xj53pq7 Of course, don't you? I have no objection to folks spending their money on these services, they just aren't for me. I lived in this rural area for six years and have yet to see one residence saved from fire by the volunteer fire department. Bless them, but they just can respond fast enough. In 47 years of home ownership I've had one leak, and I was home when it happened. Had I had a monitoring system, I would have spent the equivalent of of $14,000. It's a risk I'm willing to take. My point is that there are some places where emergency service simply isn't fast enough to make a difference; other than a fire spreading to adjacent properties. Each of us has to assess the risks and make the best decision for our family. Cody thinks the system is a good deal, and I applaud his doing what he thinks is best for his family. I do the same for mine.
Nice video, Cody, glad you showcased this. I've seen them a couple times on RUclips before (usually from people sponsored by them) but never more than just a list of its features. It really looks like a simple and slick, modular, system. If I had a house I'd almost certainly get one of these. What an easy setup! Lot of things say "easy setup" but damn this was, especially for how comprehensive it is. Definitely do updates in the future if you expand it or something happens with it. Love the vids, keep it up!

Simplisafe is actually perfect if you are living in rental home or apartment where you cannot drill holes. Also perfect for anyone that does not want to pay the high costs of a traditional hardwired security system in a home that has never had a security system installed before. Changing a battery in each sensor every couple of years is no biggie.
Best review I’ve seen on this system. I was concerned about the my door sensor because there isn’t much of a lip. But looks like your door is pretty deep in the jam.
FYI to anyone getting this system. I did not know this could run on cellular signal until I watched this video. Ours has been connected to wifi (via router), and anytime the power goes out, or our ISP is down (tree limb falls on the cable wire), our alarm system is just a decoration, nothing works until power or internet service is restored. I called SimpliSafe to inquire about a cellular connection, and they said the system has a SIM card already installed in the base station and will automatically run on whichever is faster - cellular signal or wifi. He looked our system up and said ours was installed with a T-mobile SIM card, and we have ZERO cellular coverage here with T-mobile. So, they are going to send us a free replacement SIM card to our preferred cellular provider that has good coverage here. (YAY!!) Replacing the SIM card should be easy, and when I asked about data charges for using the cellular signal, they told me that's all included in the monitoring service. Thank you, Cody, for doing this video. Our system (and security) will be improved because of it. And I agree that the setup and day-to-day use is very easy, and I have enjoyed using the app while away from home (checking in on the teenagers while they were on a break from school). It is a great product and I've only had one alarm call while at work because someone forgot to lock our dog in her crate. Oooops. :-)

I just have to say, totally unrelated, but I'm doing a bathroom remodel job on this old house and the bathroom is tiny only as long as a bathtub and wide enough for a sink and a toilet that's it. Maybe like 6x6 or something pretty small.... anyway, there was 3 inches of sand mix on one end of the floor under the tile and about am inch on the other. The walls had about inch and a half all the way up. Floor was so unlevel and was sinking. I went to the dumb with about 90% of the torn out material and it was over 1900lbs hahaha that's so insane... so much weight in such a tiny area
Wonderful equipment for a simple install. A wired system is better, but you would have to sign a contract. I love the simply safe contract. It works for me just fine. More cameras are a must.
I had the same mindset where I was setting up my home security to combat the criminal that would be deterrent by signs and lights, but you can't just cover for the "smart" criminals. I had the security system, floodlights, signs, and still had a meth head try to break in, WHILE I WAS HOME! I did notice before he got in and intercepted. But what I'm trying to say is don't just put up deterrents. You need a system and a plan for the criminals that do not think like the rest of us. Stay safe.
One of our contractors uses Simplisafe, both times they got robbed the cops showed up 15min and 21min after call, they were gone and all the tools were gone. 3 cheap 40$ Yi dashcam on windows with cellphone battery pack charger for power caught the truck and plate # 3rd time. They got the simplisafe cause slot of times the houses have no power in beginning stages while contractors leave tools overnight
You should install a smoke detector in each bedroom, especially if there are sleepers with closed bedroom doors. You should also install a carbon monoxide detector. Their detectors also set off the full system. I have had their system for several years. Like it.
Don't do it Cody! It's a trap. Well, if you have done your research and you are fine with having your and your friends and visitors comings and goings monitored without your express permission, go ahead. Not gonna happen in my home. Blessings friend P.S. you better do something more than "disable" the camera while you are home. I told them I don't care at all if someone wants to listen in on my conversations mostly because I know they have no reason to and would get nothing out of it at all so I don't see the issue.
Thank you so much! Ive been searching for best and most cost effective home security system for days... After watching your video, i would definitely check this out!
True story about just how lazy I am. I bought the original system but it's still sitting in the box, never got around to install it and when the new version 2 system came out and offered a free video camera I ordered that system too. 7 months later it's still sitting in the box waiting for to be installed. Problem with getting old, it's easier to take a nap and think about doing things then actually doing them. Maybe this week I'll get around to actually installing the system but then again, maybe not. Oh, and by the way, I have a wood burning fireplace insert, I occasionally think about fire danger but that's why I have a combination Co2/smoke alarm to wake me up if a spark should ignite something on fire.
Not a fan of having my cameras on the network. At that point, you're not the only one that watch you. Probably not at great risk at this point in time but if we get closer to civil unrest, Uncle Sam may have more interest in what we're doing.

I don't trust any wireless sensors for security systems, because whenever they go off the sensors use an rf signal that's transmitted to the main hub, thst being said you can buy signal jammers online that can keep the sensors from transmitted the signal to the main receiving hub and the cops will never be called, not only that but an alarm won't even sound, also for the security camera doorbells, they use wifi to connect and the have watch looking device you can wear on your wrist called a wifi deauther that you can get on Amazon for $80.00 they work very well for disconnecting from wifi, other than that great demonstrational video.
SimpliSafe is NOT encrypted. They have had instances of hackers literally turning the system off and burglarizing the home. It operates solely on Z-wave technology which, by itself is horrible. Also, the sensors only work so far away. AND if someone breaks in and the alarm goes off and they smash the base, the authorities will not be notified. You need an Alula system. It's encrypted and is a absolutely awesome system. They do use z-wave technology BUT it is integrated into the encryption of the system. Also, with Alula you have the option the upgrade without purchasing a whole new system. With SimpliSafe if you want to upgrade, you MUST by a whole new system. 👍
Up to now we have depended on two large dogs at the main house. But we also have another location to watch and have been depending on local friends. We don't want to ask too much of them. We have been thinking about the Simply Safe alarm system. I think their cameras have a metal lens cover that you control and if someone else ever turns it on, you will see the open lens cover. If you have a separate out building can it be added to the system and how far away can it be? Some times it's hard to find opinions with facts to back them up. Nonetheless there are real useful recomendations to be found. Please keep us posted Thank you.

I’ve had SimpliSafe for almost three years now. It’s great. My recommendation is not to put the stickers and yard sign. Burglars will just know how to disarm the system.
Really? Why would a criminal want to go through all that unless you personally owe them a ton of money?? Any normal thief would see the sign and keep on driving.
My grandfather has a ranch in Colombia, when he is travelling he has an app he uses to check on his cameras. I don't know if it's the same service as you are using.
Useful info. Thanks for sharing. Please give us a review in a few months about how it has worked out and any pros/cons for the system. Oh and what a spectacular day it was in the PNW! Perfect weather for getting long-neglected outside chores done.
I thought half of the thing was not to tell where the sensors will be placed? Another idea is if you have a remote to put on your key ring to turn it on and off, why put the main keyboard next to your main entrance?
They used to make a Carbon Monoxide detector too but for some unknown reason, they discontinued that. Be careful investing in a Simplisafe system. I have been unable to sign in for a couple months and their people are impossible to contact. I keep getting cut off when I call by phone or try on line. They don't return messages either. I even snail mailed them. The people I have talked to don't have any idea what is wrong but admit they are getting a lot of calls with this problem. I suspect they are about to go out of business.
Heh. I do the same thing when I am in my office. Have my cameras running on my iPad so I can keep an eye on what’s going on around outside while using the headphones. :)

If your trying to secure a metal building, and want external cameras, SimpliSafe is not going to work without some kind way of getting the signal through the metal building wall. The truly bizarre part of it is that SimpliSafe STILL (3 years later) does NOT have a solution. You will be on your own to devise a fix.
Yard signs are not good if you’re advertising the system that you have. For example if you have SimpliSafe you should advertise ADT. Trust me there’s a reason for this.

About to close on my first house and I went ahead and got this system for myself. This video made me more confident and excited 😊
Cody, my friend has that same wireless security system for his home and property. I highly aprove.
Stay safe in the woods.
The youtube channel "LockPickingLawyer" has bypassed the system using a 2$ car remote, and even baby monitors or personal radio devices in the 433.92 MHz frequency band (the one used by SimplySafe) could bypass it, even your own household devices could be bypassing it involuntarily. Be careful and ask for a refund if you still can. I am very sorry to tell you this, I bet most burglars don't know but still the fault is blatant.
Very timely video for me. My wife and I were just discussing this very product
I’ve had them for years and am very happy with it it aside from the smoke detectors they go off randomly for no reason and they don’t have the ability to fix that problem as of yet
This will be good when you guys leave Jack at home and you want to make sure he is not sneaking girls into the house. Lol.
Thanks @wranglerstar I just kitted our my house with this kit after watching your video. Happy to say Simplisafe is available in the UK too.
I've had a Simplisafe system for over 3 years It's worth the money.
Super stoked you have this video we are close the closing on our first home and the very first thing I want to put in is security system I hope it’s a great product because I’m really trying to find the correct fit for us ... wireless has to have batteries is what I’m not so stoked on but maybe they are relatively reliable
My house came with a simplisafe system. I enjoy it, I've had to replace the batteries once. Its the old system, you have the new re designed system. I have noticed with mine with sensors far away in the basement it has issues connecting to it. I thought about upgrading. The cell phone control is nice as well.
Simplisafe is awesome!!! I grew up my whole life without a security system until the beginning of the year and never could imagine going back! Also, August smart door lock can pair with your simplisafe system so when you arm and disarm the system your door will be unlocked as well! quick simple and all integrated! Simplisafe is extremely worth it!

Just realized after I was looking at metros vet papers that my dog ways 50lbs more than I do (138
They probably won't do anything in case of a burglary unless you trained them to do so, had a friend's dog bolt out of the house when the burglar left the door open.
2 poisoned steaks.
@@camper1749 to answer you they are trained for protecting my horses and goats they also are very sceptical of strangers who they have not met before also are pretty used to gunshots because of the fact I shoot alot on my property (they have ear protection and eye protection that I got because I didn't want them to get hurt from debris or particles from the large calibers I shoot sometimes)
@@sociopathmercenary and to answer you they will not take food without my ok or if we are out of the house they won't take anything even with my ok. If my girlfriend feeds them when I am not home they won't eat until I get home and tell them its fine but are slowly getting better with that but they have olny know her for 4 months ao it's expected because that's what they were trained for. But if that does succeed some how you still will have to deal with the giant 6 foot black throated monitor that also calls my house home she's a bit of a dick she would not let my girlfriend into the living room for a while
These systems are fairly easy to overcome with jamming programs or hacking if the person really wants to get in (like if its a planned burglary while you’re away for a period of time). As someone said, don’t let them put any stickers up with the brand of the company on your windows or anything.
Most random, unprofessional burglaries will be deterred with good locks and a barking dog. Make yourself a hard target etc
Living in a rural area with slow response times, 911 is just to call for cleanup. 1911 beats 911 in many places.
Texoma Tinker 1911 doesn’t put out fires, doesn’t notify you while you’re away, doesn’t detect leaks. Did you even think before you commented?
I'm actually glad that you crawled across the floor. That was one of my concerns. Great video!

Wish we could get a system like that here in South Africa. With the Crime rate being so high it would great to have the features that this system has.
Oooops. :-)
My wife and I live out in the country and absolutely love love love! Simply Safe!

Very good video Cody. I just subbed and rang that bell. We will be checking out this security system for sure.
Stay safe.
Very cool!!! I"m having a GEEK atack just looking at this gear. Looks to be a great solution.
Like it.
Yes here it is code for every bedroom to have a detector now. Also must be hard wired together I'm not sure if these do that.
This is like when I was little and my dad would set stuff up and show me. I love your content man
Im just gonna buy the signs
Don't do it Cody! It's a trap. Well, if you have done your research and you are fine with having your and your friends and visitors comings and goings monitored without your express permission, go ahead. Not gonna happen in my home. Blessings friend
P.S. you better do something more than "disable" the camera while you are home. If you think you are in control of this device, you will be severely disappointed when you check what it is capable of doing without your input. Friends don't let friends install these things. There are much better ways. Just sayin'
I dont know squat about these systems or home cameras that I can stream to my phone. These have recently become a need and I'm wondering if your cautions are true John. I will need to know everything before I decide. Thanks

Why? Why do you care? What EXACTLY are you concerned about? I mean, what is the exact scenario that makes you not want these types of things in your home. I ask this not trying to be a jerk. I just want to understand. Is it because you are doing something illegal and are afraid the government is going to use something against you? I don't get this fear. I had someone at the house over the weekend and they said they would never get an Alexa because they can listen in on you.

I bought one of these systems after viewing this video, super easy to set up and boy, my wife loves it! Thanks

What is the range on the sensors, can you put any in the pole barn?
I have been thinking of getting this. Loved the review
You will not be disappointed with your simple safe. Happy trails
You can put the door sensors inside your safes, I have none setup with camera activation on my abode system
Question: I'm looking at security systems, and this video is a bit old. Would you still recommend this system?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Take care and God Bless.
I’ve been watching you videos for a while now, was expecting a chainsaw video, the review was unexpected, but you did a great review on Simplisafe, and the last part crawling through and triggering the system was a good sample for those with pets.
hope you have better luck with your motion sensors , are 6 lbs Yorkshire terrier set them off . we have ADT now and have had others in the passed. keep up the good work
I’ve had SimpliSafe for almost three years now. It’s great. My recommendation is not to put the stickers and yard sign. Burglars will just know how to disarm the system.
Really? Why would a criminal want to go through all that unless you personally owe them a ton of money?? Any normal thief would see the sign and keep on driving.
Use a Ring sign to confuse the thieves
Should put door sensors/camera on the gun safe door
My grandfather has a ranch in Colombia, when he is travelling he has an app he uses to check on his cameras. I don't know if it's the same service as you are using.
Useful info. Thanks for sharing. Please give us a review in a few months about how it has worked out and any pros/cons for the system.
Oh and what a spectacular day it was in the PNW! Perfect weather for getting long-neglected outside chores done.
That Benchmade 940 is the star of the video.
You very accurate with your description. Great job!! Thanks
Oh, watch large mylar balloons with the motion sensors. Been there, done that.
To all the people that don’t like Simpli Safe please post what is better with same options , thank you.
Water sensor also good under toilets for when your tank cracks.
I think the only thing I would have done different was put the camera out on the porch facing the lane and the outbuildings.

Hello from England 👍
@wranglestar
Update after 2 years ?
If your trying to secure a metal building, and want external cameras, SimpliSafe is not going to work without some kind way of getting the signal through the metal building wall. The truly bizarre part of it is that SimpliSafe STILL (3 years later) does NOT have a solution. You will be on your own to devise a fix.
Yard signs are not good if you’re advertising the system that you have. For example if you have SimpliSafe you should advertise ADT. Trust me there’s a reason for this. I prefer a generic sign that simply says “Alarm 24 hour police dispatch” again there was a reason for this. You never want to tell people which system you have
Any house need to secur when you leave house . and there is no persion in it to watch it .
