  • For a number of years now, flying around the Pemberton icecap via the Elaho has been a big flying dream of mine. In my honest opinion, It's one of, if not the most classic lines in our local coast range. It follows such a beautiful natural path using numerous valley systems, gives stunning positions and encompasses a massive amount of ice and alpine terrain. The Elaho, however, doesn't go without a bit of spice. It's remote and boasts a large section with no places to land down in the valley. It deserves great respect and definitely shouldn't be taken lightly.
I still remember that day in late May, 2017, When I heard Scott Flavelle flew it for the first time. I had only been flying for a year and a half at that point and was absolutely blown away. Reading what he wrote about his flight was nothing short of inspiring. Over time it'd get flown by a handful of great pilots but for me it'd be put on a pedestal until I felt I was ready to give it a proper attempt on a proper day.
Finally that day comes. With a great crew to fly with: Corey, Al, Luke and Tom and ridiculously good forecast, We had the privilege of experiencing the ice cap loop in some of the best conditions I could ever hope for.

100% one of the least flown most classic lines in North America! Can't wait to get a crack at it one day! Thanks for posting

Absolutely insane! I was flying Pemberton that day too, but nothing like that! I saw one of you guys post the flight on XContest that night and it blew my mind. Something to work towards in a few years, maybe. Congrats on fulfilling a dream!

Oh sweet! Glad you got to fly that day. Best looking sky so far this year for sure. Paragliding is amazing. Make those lofty goals and chip away at the sky one flight at a time. One fine day will come along and it'll be on! Hopefully the rest of July delivers!
