This is a huge selling point for me. Being able to remote play PS4 and PS5 on Steam Deck looks awesome. I have a Vita, but the PS4 remote play is horrible because the wifi in the Vita sucks big time.

@@BookChrisH only when nearby. I find it difficult to connect with a network outside of home with the ps5. I read something about using switchroot and downloading psplay to use outside network to remotely Play ps5. can someone help and give directions to do this?
@@runnertv1 It works outside. I tried it with my mobile connection. You just have to add a new console on the Ciaki app and on the line "host" you have to type in your IP address which your internet provider has given to you or best your DNS address if you have already created one. After that you have to forward the remote play ports on your router to your PS5 / PS4 console and you're good to go :)
@@manuelkimpel3788 too bad, my ISP always change my public IP address. It's on DHCP. The alternative way to play outside is using official app with proton. And it's not as good as Chiaki.
It did not work for me...in Trinket when I copy the link I got after signing in to my PSN account, I get an error message, it says: "AttributeError: module 'requests' has no attribute 'auth' Can anyone help? How can you overcome this? I even tried the tried running the 4 commands in Konsole method, but that didn't work as well!
I've been wanting to pair PS5 remote play to my android phone and use a 3rd party controller, and this method works for that as well. So much cleaner then the 1st party app, thanks ETA! :D
@@trentellis5199 Much to my surprise it feels like almost no lag at all. Even when I'm upstairs and across the home from my router. There's also no pixelated degradation. It seems to be more consistent then GamePass/Xbox Remote play, which I was also impressed with. Worth noting that I do have my consoles plugged into ethernet, and I have 400mbps speeds
@@Mite000 that's amazing! I have the same speeds and PS5 plugged into ethernet but always have the worst unplayable lag with official remote play app. Going to try chiaki soon, thanks mate
All these years I was put off by Sony or Microsofts official remote play implementations because of the latency and artifacting problems on screen... but man.. this Chiaki is a game changer for me. It plays literally almost native with virtually zero input latency. Thank you for this great tutorial ETA PRIME!
For the record, Sony's Remote Play works over 802.11a or 802.11g. In order to go back to a wireless that can't support Remote Play you have to go back to 802.11b. Remote Play uses about 10Mbps bandwidth for 720P.
@@bambi2281 He commented about how much bandwidth Sony's Remote Play uses, said you need 802.11ac or something similar, can't remember, it's been a month. Remote play uses about 12Mbps, 1080P is probably about 16-18 if it's anything like Steam's Remote Play, my old PS4 won't stream 1080P. 802.11a and above can stream just fine, 802.11 or 802.11b are the only ones slow enough to cause a problem.

I'm not sure if it's just my account or if the script is just broken, but I can't seem to get my Account ID through this method. Tried multiple browsers, devices, and networks but it continues to throw back an error message every time I paste the link into the script. Oh well, was really hoping to remote play my old PS4 games on the SD since I can't get any of them anywhere else...
The Account ID is a bit borked at the moment, but as a work-around via Reddit: "The site seems to be down. I had the same issue yesterday but I was able to find a solution. First you need to turn off 2 factor identification for your psn account. You can turn it back on once you're done. Then install python and pycharm on your pc. Then open pycharm and delete the sample script that appears when opening a new project. You then need to copy the python script in pycharm and click run. After that its the same thing as the trinket website. Take the url in a browser, login and when it shows redirect, copy that url in pycharm and click enter. You should get your base64 psn ID then. I have no experience in programming but was able to manage this. Good luck!" It worked for me as of 11/2/2022

Your local method worked for me on my first try. I set this Remote Play app up on my Steam Deck months ago but then I wiped everything to start fresh on a new SSD. I didn't think to save the account id that time but I did this time. Thanks Lardverse!

Just a heads up for anything looking into doing this, today is Oct 28, 2022, and I can say with confidence this isn’t working anymore. We will have to wait for an update to the site or a tutorial from ETA. Just wanted to save you some time and a headache! If it does start working please let people know!

I tried it. Though it had pretty low latency, it just didn't feel as natural as playing directly. It depends on the game and it takes getting used to if you care about your personal gaming performance.
I got it to work by running the python script in windows. I installed python and then pycharm. Ran pycharm. Then, I replaced the sample python script with the one found under the "online" link. Hit Run. Entered "y" to download the needed modules. The rest of the steps are the same as the video. Hope this helps someone else.

Unfortunately it is not working for me. When I paste the redirect URL and hit enter, it is giving me error: moduel requests does not have attribute auth at code line 79. I was unable to find a solution online.
I got this error too. then I searched a little more and success using "Less talk more gameplay" channel method. Looks like you will need to install some additional stuff on the computer before running the code.
It also works over an internet connection. Thank you for your tutorial. It really helped me. Damn! That steam deck is a hell of a beast and puts the Nintendo switch into the trash :)
I never cared for the way that Sony has implemented remote play. I haven’t used it since the PS4, and it only worked using a dummy account while the controller paired with the console if I remembered correctly. I have multiple consoles for game sharing, and things can get pretty weird with remote play only wanting to access the primary console. Great content.
I ended up having an issue with chiaki where after getting coms to work so I could play call of duty with the boys while the wife watched her shows, my mic would no longer work on the steam deck. Did not matter if I used a USB or 3.5mm headset or even no headset at all, thought my steam deck had an issue until I got coms working in desktop mode. The fix was to reset the deck to factory, only took like 2 minutes but re-downloading all my games sucked.

While you wait for a STEAM deck, just use your phone with a Razer Kishi. On Android buy PS Play for $6; it's an unofficial app that is truly amazing! Not sure what's the equivalent on iPhone.
Now how do I get this to work when I’m not on my home connection? Whole reason I want remote play is to play when I’m not at home, when I’m home I rather play on my 65” 4K OLED
figured it out down load Pycharm and install that page with the links second one will have a share tab there is a drop down menu with a down load option open the zip and there will be a file run it it will open the console automatically doo all the same stuff you are a computer hacker now
doing the online thing to get your id code, youre basically giving your account info to whoever runs that website.. theres a python script to run it locally. much safer.
You can also try a powerline passthrough adapter. In most cases it will be more stable and faster than wifi, especially in a big house with thick walls. The only problem is cutting electrical interference from devices (major culprits being fridge/freezers, tumble drier and microwaves, etc.). Once you get going you will understand and know the culprits and be able to mitigate. Mind you even with interference, I find it's still faster than wifi in my case. EDIT: Referring to Ethernet for people who have PS device or PC far from a router or modem.
Getting a traceback error. Not sure why though. Maybe its the double authentication I have applied. Either way hopefully I can figure this out and fix it

Man you're make it hard to wait for the 2nd gen Deck. 😁 I wonder if the screen is big enough to play though. The OLED switch is just bearable to me while the OG switch is too small. Call me old I guess hehe. This is why I got the Tab S8 Ultra. 😉 Edit: And just like that I just put in my reserve for one! 😁 I'll see if my mind changes later this year when I get an email from them. I actually thought about doing this a couple of months ago and held off. I was just wishing for better specs all the way around but then again that would've came with a price increase. I honestly don't think the next Deck will come out until another 2 years or so. This isn't a phone and more like a console the way I see it.
I'm over 40 and I find it to be within my range of readable, but it depends on the game, some games have small text that you cannot scale up, luckily the Deck comes with a built in Magnification option for the instances when I need to read something tiny. So far though I've found the best use cases for it are games that feel like they were designed with handheld gaming in mind, like side-scrollers or action games, where reading isn't as integral to gameplay. I would say if you're looking to play something text heavy like an RTS then the v1 Deck might not work out for you.
So can you play this if you’re in a different room or place altogether or do you have to be in the same room? And does this give you access to everything the extra SSD, and the external hard drive?
Hello! If you can see this. The easy online version didn’t work for me. Thanks to a grip of other RUclipsrs I was able to like use python to run the same script on my deck. So I installed miniconda then installed requests then was able to get the raw script from the links and then make it executable then run it and get my id then was able to do the rest and it plays really great. I know this sounds like a lot and I messed up a bunch of times but I hope one of y’all decides to give it a shot. I didn’t know getting a steam deck I would be like sorta learning python hahahahahhaa. Ty for the tutorial. Hope it gets easier in the future!

I think if you have 2fa activated on your account. You may not be able to do it without disabling 2fa. (I may be wrong)

While you wait for a STEAM deck, just use your phone with a Razer Kishi. On Android buy PS Play for $6; it's an unofficial app that is truly amazing! Not sure what's the equivalent on iPhone.

Fixed it. If anyone runs into this issue download the script and run it through python on your PC. Seems like the web version isn't working.

down load Pycharm and install
that page with the links second one will have a share tab
there is a drop down menu with a down load option
open the zip and there will be a file
run it it will open the console automatically doo all the same stuff

All set up, and my ps5 said the device connected. but when open only show blank on my steam deck
doing the online thing to get your id code, youre basically giving your account info to whoever runs that website.. theres a python script to run it locally. much safer.
You can also try a powerline passthrough adapter. In most cases it will be more stable and faster than wifi, especially in a big house with thick walls.
The only problem is cutting electrical interference from devices (major culprits being fridge/freezers, tumble drier and microwaves, etc.).
Once you get going you will understand and know the culprits and be able to mitigate. Mind you even with interference, I find it's still faster than wifi in my case.
EDIT:
Referring to Ethernet for people who have PS device or PC far from a router or modem.
Naw you’re better off using a mesh network. Powerline can be very janky

I wonder if the screen is big enough to play though. The OLED switch is just bearable to me while the OG switch is too small. Call me old I guess hehe. This is why I got the Tab S8 Ultra. 😉
Edit: And just like that I just put in my reserve for one! 😁 I'll see if my mind changes later this year when I get an email from them. I actually thought about doing this a couple of months ago and held off. I was just wishing for better specs all the way around but then again that would've came with a price increase. I honestly don't think the next Deck will come out until another 2 years or so. This isn't a phone and more like a console the way I see it.
I'm over 40 and I find it to be within my range of readable, but it depends on the game, some games have small text that you cannot scale up, luckily the Deck comes with a built in Magnification option for the instances when I need to read something tiny.
So far though I've found the best use cases for it are games that feel like they were designed with handheld gaming in mind, like side-scrollers or action games, where reading isn't as integral to gameplay. I would say if you're looking to play something text heavy like an RTS then the v1 Deck might not work out for you.

I was able to play cod using chiaki and the deck, did as good as I usually do playing native on the ps5.
That says a lot for the lack of latency.

Hello! If you can see this. The easy online version didn’t work for me. Thanks to a grip of other RUclipsrs I was able to like use python to run the same script on my deck. So I installed miniconda then installed requests then was able to get the raw script from the links and then make it executable then run it and get my id then was able to do the rest and it plays really great. I know this sounds like a lot and I messed up a bunch of times but I hope one of y’all decides to give it a shot. I didn’t know getting a steam deck I would be like sorta learning python hahahahahhaa. Ty for the tutorial. Hope it gets easier in the future!

The first thing I did after I received my deck last week. Was trolling some people that Blood borne was released on Deck.
So far I haven’t seen a single comment about this. Whenever I Paste that “url” after logging into playstion, it gives me an alert saying “requesting OAuth Token” it’s not showing me my ID. Please help :(
