The way that story came together was crazy, at first just thought oh well regular hood beef, then he brought it all together, that it could possibly have inspired one of Jay’s best songs.

Artist Saint, St. Laz, this interview was stellar! My apologies for the delayed comment, but work has been occupying my time. However, you provided the canvas for Black Knowledge to paint a masterpiece of urban America in the 1980’s. Your questions were pointed enough to create a linear story, but broad enough to allow Black Knowledge room to work. Your journalistic skills were most on display when you asked the question about Black Knowledge’s trust for Knowledge B. Black Knowledge did something genius by physically demonstrating, via handshakes, how he and Knowledge B were once close and that friendship deteriorated. Though the remainder of the interview is brilliant, for me, the gravity of the story remains in that moment. Knowledge B is omniscient in many of Black Knowledge’s earlier stories. Listeners are aware of his presence, and his actions, but he looms in the shadows. Black Knowledge’s organic ability for storytelling is the reason why this phenomenon exists. Anyone that listens closely, Black Knowledge tells you why Knowledge B is in the shadows. Black Knowledge, while never diminishing the legacy of Knowledge B, outgrew Knowledge B. As Black Knowledge matured, he became devastatingly aware that Knowledge B’s inclination for recklessness was in fact a liability. I use the term “devastatingly aware” because it is difficult, to say the least, to become aware that a friend may lack the ability to continue a journey with you. For example, Black Knowledge explains that he told Knowledge B that he couldn’t kill Tah-Tah, as it would potentially lead to multiple murders. In that moment there is a fracture in their friendship. Black Knowledge inadvertently created a schism in their friendship. This is supported by Black Knowledge humbly stating that he was never anyone’s leader. Technically he did not have the authority to tell Knowledge B what to do because they were cohorts. However, Black Knowledge assumed the reigns of unofficial leader and learned that “Heavy is the head that wears the crown.” Black Knowledge was learning that an effective leader creates the semblance of being close with subordinates, but maintains a mandatory distance for moments when authority is required. Knowledge B’s story has tragic elements, including his ending, but his story can’t be defined as tragic. Human beings are too multi-faceted to be reduced to one word. However, Knowledge B’s life, like so many other young men, remains suspended in air with only speculations of what could have been. Artist Saint, St. Laz, I thank both you and Black Knowledge for caring enough to give life to the stories of people who would otherwise be forgotten. I don’t take it lightly that the stories of far too many young men are erased as though they don’t matter. The clearing of their murder scenes is metaphorical for how we are encouraged to forget. Laz, your interviews and your stories rewinds listeners to the times before these young men’s blood pooled the cement in the same areas where they lived. Your work in this area is appreciated Brother, and I implore you to never stop giving voices to voiceless. For anyone that’s interested, below is a link to an article that discusses the death of Knowledge B and his two brothers. This is why your platform matters, Laz. The link to the article below doesn’t do justice to the stories of these young men, their mother’s subsequent struggle with her faith as a result of losing ALL of her sons to gun violence, nor does it illuminate the character of the young men. If it is possible, I would love to hear Black Knowledge speak about the moments that he perceives as pivotal in the decline of his friendship with Knowledge B. In addition, Black Knowledge can fill in the details about Knowledge B’s older brother Raleek, and his younger brother. I genuinely salute both of you Brothers! Salute, Paterson, NJ Street Violence Robs Mother of All Three Sons--and Faith : Crime: Raleak was the first to die, then Andrew, then Frankie. Peace Brother! I responded at length, and in depth, to this reply on the other line that you linked me on. However I just wanted to briefly state publicly how important this reply is! You touched on so much brother that it really hit home for me about the importance of getting this narrative out! For those that are awake and aware, your words will resonate! Salute 🫡 and much respect to you fam for seeing the picture from a lens that very few will fathom. Your words are an inspiration and I truly appreciate them 💪🏾🙏🏾
Laz!!!! I’m really feeling this interview. Dude is speaking honestly. In the 80s robbing was a BIG THING. Boomboxes, Cazals, Sheepskins, Leather Bombers, Adidas and Pumas were hot commodities. Sadly, many young people in the NY lost their lives over items that actually were super temporary and of low value. Once, I ALMOST got~got when a ‘friend of a friend of a friend” set me up and they tried to take my Bomber my Mom bought for me out of Macy’s. The Macy’s joints was better constructed and had better fur on the collar than the ones sold on Delancey. Thankfully I’m typing these words damn near 40 years later, I kept my coat but it was thick for me that night😅
@bkthoroughbred This what I’m trying to explain to many who getting offended by the story. This is facts!!! BROOKLYN WAS BROOKLYN!!! It didn’t matter what you had, if somebody wanted and they got the drop, it’s there’s.!!! That leather bomber would’ve been theirs, moral of the story “LIVE TO SEE ANOTHER DAY” 😂 I don’t take nothing personal at the moment. Our time (Your time also)( 80’s and 90’s)was dope and dangerous but it was a vibe we was comfortable with💯💯💯
Omg I enjoyed this with laughter and extreme tension for more of the story this was great yo keep it up yo I'm like 66 years old and I'm telling you brought back a lot of memories and I'm not even from Brooklyn
I'm a Jersey nigga but I spent summers in Brooklyn and I'll say this East NY was so much grimier than Bedstuy it was a toss up between The Ville n The East
That part about cough up a lung is funny as hell because he probably wasn’t even talking about dude but you know how niggas in the hood connect dots that aren’t there 😂😂😂
Peace to Black knowledge and Laz for doing a great job on the sit down! Salute to all the Gods and Earths who actually striving to live out Allah.s Mathematics and not just a brother with a righteous name and no education!!! Peace Shawndu!
Yes sir the og Black knowledge . I see my Big brother Jamie in that picture on the left when he talking about the coat. Shout out to poison. Sumner 4 Life

I aint gunnuh lie i wish i was from sumner. When i see dudes like this man black knowledge i honestly say thats typuh man i wanted to be. Fearless that ran with a code.
On the real after hearing this story that song took on a new life. But first my take on the part where him and Tah Tah spoke after all that time. Tah Tah’s hesitation to me more than likely came from knowledge knowing that that was jay that day it all sparked the beef over. They probably was hoping they didn’t connect them dots being as jay wasn’t jay at that time. But knowledge knowing it was him clearly left a story of a street dude by all’s perspective taking a L on the streets before his rise. That could of been harmful to jays career and street cred so Tah Tah thoughts was like damn he do know that was jay. Now my second take is the song when you put all the pieces together that knowledge just gave us that song was more shot packed than I think even knowledge caught. “ I’m from the other side (Marcy) where the other guys (Tompkins and sumner) don’t walk too much and the shortys from the projects won’t fk us say we talk to much so they ran up to Tompkins sort them dudes to trust I don’t know wtf they thought them niggas is foul just like us. …..I’m from where dudes are at odds for the love of foreign cars (the robbery that put them at odds was over material gains) but most of the time find themselves locked up behind bars (knowledge whole crew went to jail) that all. I’m from where they ball and breed rap stars ( knowledge balled with sauce money jay became a rap star) I’m from Marcy son. Stamping his allegiance in the beef and putting all who opposed on notice. Just thought I’d remind y’all. (In case anyone forgot his part in the prior lyrics beef) then the now meaningfully laced hook, cough up a lung…..shii crazy and I’m not pushing for old wounds to be open so hopefully this don’t sound like that but knowledge shared a legendary story with us and us as listeners is going to do so from every angle presented. Salute to you Laz and knowledge for dropping this exclusive piece of history. This should be on the big screen though 💯💎💎💎
Yea it sound to me like that song is directly referencing that situation. Not trying to amp it, but then the cherry on top is “im from Marcy just thought Id remind yall”
@@TopShotta10904 facts I feel the same way but truth of the matter is so many songs are relatable to street situations…. At the end of it all only jay himself can put an end to all the speculation one way or the other. Till then it’s up for discussion and debate 💯🫡
@@jacobsladder7384none of them song are about these bums niggas just want something to show for all those years wasted but jay catalogue ain’t about these bum ass
@ jacobsladder7384 So you understand that rap lyrics can definitely go over heads for those who not from around- the -way. So I guess you from around the way to put that together before even hearing this interview but you wouldn’t know what was meant in that song. Some dudes change up stories or tend to add false content or keep out certain details. It’s all love From Sumner ,Tompkins and Marcy from this era generation. Facts is Marcy dudes were ahead of the hustling game and we took the robbery game because we had that energy!!! None of this is disrespect to anybody, it’s all facts!!! From generation to generation. Today it’s different because the gang life destroyed all aspects of the hood love!! A lot of the older dudes from that era got genuine love for each other regardless of all the nonsense back in the days.
@@forgetdramagetmoneyllc facts💯I came from this era and I pay close attention when I hear these stories because I know the time and temperature from this era. It all made sense after I heard the god speak his truths and the song made more sense putting the lyrics to the story. Yeah I’m from bk and hustled in LG for a few so I know the dynamics of these 3 legendary projects and know most ppl outside that dynamic won’t relate. 💯 🫡
“ It started like this, got like this, ended like this” Black Knowledge letting you know how people can be close as shorties but end up being friendnemies at the end.
I used to always wonder who was that little dude(ty ty) hanging with Jay always smiling looking like a kid in the old and new pictures. Now I know their history. That's what's up to have a homie around with genuine love and not for your money
I enjoyed that story thanks bro. Tell the story of the betrayal of K-Sun by his partner in crme Allah justice. That also took place in tompkins. Many things to learn out of that story
Peace,Peace After the founder of the 5 percent nation went back to the essence or passed away a lot of the Gods had to lead themselves through the wicked and wild ways of society with no help or aide This led to many Gods becoming disenfranchised and confused about the future of our nation.

Historically most dudes did not practice their attributes to fulfillment. They didn't complete their righteous cipher.
Facts. This why the 5% nation was no longer looked as rigtheous
@@williamdrayton7352 I wonder how many get salty over that fact, or accept accountability
Peace,Peace
After the founder of the 5 percent nation went back to the essence or passed away a lot of the Gods had to lead themselves through the wicked and wild ways of society with no help or aide
This led to many Gods becoming disenfranchised and confused about the future of our nation.
@@BLKGAMBINO I heard he got killed in a dice game. Go figure
@@BLKGAMBINO but even by just knowing the supreme mathematics should keep the gods free from corruption and wickedness. The mathematics alone solved that problem because no longer would one be blind, deaf and dumb
Good interview
