    Yeah Troy, i had some of those people as well. I remember when i bought a fish lens for a Sony Camcorder for $5.00 .. (i always pick up camera lenses for up to $10, they always sell)...and when i got home i researched the lens and found only one that has sold for $1400. I couldn't believe it but kept doing research and couldn't find that specific lens anywhere else. Since i had the only one i put it up for $1500 just to see what happens. 30 minutes later i had multiple offers with people laughing about my price, telling me i am never going to sell it for that and offered up to $600... another 20 minutes later the lens sold.. Full price, no best offer made.... Thinking about it, i could have probably put it up for $2000 because of the extrem rarity.. but hey.. turning $5 into $1500 , I'll take that all day long. Hell i wish i had one of these deals once a week. or even once a month.

    I had a guy try to bully me over a Harley Davidson hat. I had it listed for like $18 and he offered $10 and said that it was an old used hat and was only worth that. Decline! Sold the hat full asking price a week later. Gotta love it. But I guess it’s something we have to deal with. As for sales I had 3 this weekend. Normally I have around 10 or so. Oh well back to listing. Have a great night!

    Sales have been horrible. I think I need to adjust my sourcing though. first, I hardly have any listings, under 30. Second, I focus more on high dollar stuff, meaning what I would make. So if there was something for sale for a buck at a yard sale and resell value is like $15-$20, I wouldnt touch it. If it was a buck and resell value was like $40-$50, then yes I would get it. I dunno, even lower end stuff, it just seems a waste of time to make 5-10 bucks on an item, yet if I sell a bunch of them it adds up and I also have more items to post and potentially sell. So need to adjust pronto.

He didn't have to buy my stuff. That's fine. But the lie!!! Really, no one in eastern kentucky is broke at the 1st of the month. That's when the disability checks come out. Have a nice day.👍

    Troy, have you done any specific videos addressing your philosophy on reselling media: albums, cassettes, CD's, DVDs, VHS etc-- Do you do any "testing" at all ? If not, are returns a problem ? What about electronics ? I don't think I see you sell much of that, though, do I ? TIA !

    • @MountainManTreasure
      @MountainManTreasure  2 года назад

      I don’t do a ton of electronics, no … not any more. I don’t like the cleaning, testing, packing … they take up more real estate when my space is limited, etc.
      Most media I don’t test - so for that reason only pick it up when it is very clean.

    I don't want to dissuade any of your buyers, but I really do not like leather boot laces. I used them a few times in my Lincoln area elk hunting days. It isn't fun when you have a few miles back to the truck and snap a leather lace when tying a lace that became untied. They tend to break easily.

    I swear youtubers math on how much there gunna make has me confused. Spent 5 sold it for 10 so after fees packing materials taxes and gas ima make $4.98. Like damn all those expenses only took out 2 penny's

    • @MountainManTreasure
      @MountainManTreasure  2 года назад +1

      After fees, $8.68 left. After buy cost, 3.68. I buy shipping supplies in bulk, gas was spent to get to other stuff at that same sale and is deductible (and this sale was a block from my house) so let’s be generous and give that a nickel … I’m still clearing more than $3 in profit. Easy money.

    • @raid_or_die8962
      @raid_or_die8962 2 года назад +1

      Well 9.98 dvd sale + 3.19 shipping. Thats 13.17 total that they fee you off of. fees 13% on a 13.17 total is 1.71 in fees. Then 30 cents transaction fee. Thats 2.01 off of the 9.98 sold price. Takes you down to 7.97. Minus the 5 you paid for it takes you down to 2.97. And thats not including if you paid taxes on the $5 purchase like from a buisness run estate sale or thrift. And then you also said after taxes which dont you get taxed at the end of the year off of your profit? And isnt it like around 25% tax. If yearly taxes does take 25% of that 2.97 profit thatd take you down to 2.23. Sence you stated after shipping fees and even taxes be 3-4$ profit. And thats not including the fact that when somone buys somthing from you most states will charge the buyer tax on the purchase. And ebay fees you off the total they paid after taxes. So if they paid 10 for a item from you there state might tax them 9% theyd endup paying after taxes 10.90. And youd get feed 13% on that 10.90. So your getting feed for that 90 cents that there paying in taxes on the purchase to there state. Im pretty sure atleast.

    • @MountainManTreasure
      @MountainManTreasure  2 года назад

      You’re so much further into the weeds than I care to venture, though. It’s not a high dollar sale. At all. And I knew that going in. I figured $3-4 or so but you’re right that I didn’t take into account eBay charging fees on shipping and taxes, etc. (But in Montana, no, we have no taxes to pay on purchases.) So let’s revise to $2-$3 how about? Still fine by me. Bought Saturday, out the door Monday morning, and it took maybe a minute to list and a minute to pack.

    • @raid_or_die8962

      Im not hating on your sale i sell low doller stuff all the time i just think that when youtubers estimate they should under estimate. Gotta lot of people watching the vids trying to use you and other youtubers as a guide on how stuff works. Just worrys me that people take every word youtube resellers say as fact. I get free boxes from USPS, my printer I paid $10 for with ink , I have a backup printer with ink that I also paid $10 for , I print labels on paper that I find while sourcing , a ream of paper for 1.99 has lasted months , when that runs out I have a box of photo quality paper($1) that I will print labels with. Tape is 8 dollars for 4 rolls , the only time shipping costs more than a few cents is when I have to buy a bigger box , mostly 18x18x18,about $3 cost from Walmart or home Depot. Last big item the buyer paid $150 for an old TEAC cassette player(parts only) and 77 calculated shipping from FL to NJ. $228 total , ended up shipping it FedEx for $33. Bought the cassette player for 9.99. I was reluctant to deal with electronics until I had that sale. Definitely changes my mind on buying bulky electronics . Now I think I will give the 10-15 dollars items a try. Every model or method definitely doesn't work for everyone
