  • Discover two ways to add texture to hair with a razor with a weaving technique. By weaving a small amount from the section, you can select wether to softly remove some texture and density or remove enough hair to give the illusion of surface layering. This is a great technique for guests looking for texture and movement without apparent layers. Watch as Sam describes the What, Why, and How behind the technique so you can apply it to your salon guests!

    I used to cut my own bangs with a razor when I was in high school and I loved it! I loved working with a razor so much that it honestly opened that option for me of becoming a hair stylist but I could never afford cosmetology school. But I definitely want to become a stylist

    Thank you! I've moved to a new country and can't find anyone to do this hair styling on me, I'm a formerly licensed barber so I'm just going to have to learn how to do this on my own hair

      Hey Heather... you could do it with our texture blades as well. They will just remove less hair (which could be a good thing depending on what your desired end result is)

    I like this video and technique! Can this also work for wavy hair? I sometimes feel I need more lift in the crown area

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Janet, it could work but the hair needs to be left a little stronger on the ends so that it doesn't create frizz

    Sam! I want to know what will happen next time you try to layer this client’s hair. will the razor spots be visible?! omg i need to try this!

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  5 лет назад +2

      Hi KT... because you weaved through the section, the pieces shouldn't stand out too much. It definitely gives some bold visual texture but if you can see "spots", either the section was too big or the pieces were removed with too much pressure which causes a more blunt feeling edge.

    I have very fine long hair and have watched several of your texture videos. Unfortunately the products that you recommend in those vids is no longer available. Could you recommend a current product to use with the crimper to add texture and thickness. Thanks in advance.

      The Iron Shape 11 we use in many of our videos with the Textur Iron is still available and it would be our top recommendation! www.redken.com/products/styling/heat-styling/iron-shape-11-thermal-finishing-spray

    Hi Sam amazing video :D tell me would you use a razor in a client with extremely fine hair? Love you much

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Susana, this particular technique might be a bit aggressive for extremely fine hair. We don't necessarily take a stand that a razor "shouldn't" be used on fine hair, just have to be cautious with what technique you use so that you don't leave the ends feeling too wispy.

    Hi Sam! I'm Buboy hair artist from manila. I've been watching all your video and I love it! in this vedio in particular, why we need to put the razor inside the hair or to go in? what if we don't have that kind of razor? I'm just curious?

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  5 лет назад +1

      Any razor will work in a similar fashion. Inserting the blade between the sections allows you to choose wether to remove the smaller amount of hair you have weaved out or the larger portion of the hair that is left out. Hope that helps
