Info: The history of Ephesus begins in ancient times when the city was a center of culture and trade in the Eastern Mediterranean. The city is located in what is now Turkey and was once the capital of the Roman Empire in Asia Minor.
Ephesus became famous for having one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis. In addition, this city is also the center of Christianity and one of the famous churches is Maria's Church.
In the 6th century AD, Ephesus fell to the Byzantine Empire and became the religious center of Orthodox Christianity. In the 13th century, the city fell under the rule of the Ottoman Empire and experienced economic and social decline.
In the 19th century, the city became the object of archaeological research and continues to be a tourist attraction from around the world. In 2015, Ephesus was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the importance of its cultural and historical heritage.
In the Malay language, this city is known as "Ephesus" and there are many historical sources and archaeological studies that require the historical and cultural significance of this city.
