I had a 64 XL black with red hot rod interior and 3 on the floor factory also. In it was a 406 Ford Interceptor engine with 3/4 Isky, high rise intake with a single 750 double pumper. would completely shred them wide oval junk tires and would make a big chirp when hitting 3rd gear. And u know it got pretty dman good gas mileage on the road. I suspect it was getting around 20-22 mpg on the hwy and about 12 -15 in town if I kept my foot out of it. That was probably one of the best running engines I ever had in any of the dozens of cars over the years. I can still remember pulling into the Dairy Queen or A&W in first gear and the car would just kinda lope into the parking spot. Those were the good old days. Happy Days! I have started looking for another one to ride around in while I grow older and older. I will buy another one pretty soon. We all only have just so many days left here to enjoy so why not? I like your car quite a lot.

Sweet! I had a 64 XL ragtop when I was in high school way back in the late 60's. Loved that car.

Is there a reason you went with a 351 small block platform ( to 408) rather than the original FE like 390 or 406? I’m not criticizing your choice just genuinely curious?? My guess is the 351 motor is cheaper to build than FE motor ? Anyhow sharp Ford brother ! Sounds fantastic

@@ratgalaxie I think it's an excellent choice 500+ hp a couple hundred pounds lighter which means better handling cheaper etc. etc. Well done !!!

64 was one of the best looking Ford Galaxies around, They used to be the police car of the day. I had one, bought it for $100 and sold it for $900 back in 1978, 351 Cleveland, 4 speed, kicking my ass today, lol, Oh well that's life. If I knew back in the day what I know now today, with the prices of some of these cars, I'd be a millionaire today, as well as everyone else on this site.

Awesome job! Beautiful ride! Did you have to modify the wheel well to fit that size combo? I have one and would love to run that size wheel tire combo what's the specs please?! And offset.

Rear wheels 20x10 and fronts are 18x7. I used air shocks to raise the height a little bit as there is a round spot that sticks out in the wheel well if weight of car goes down to much will rub the out side tire a little bit. Im not sure of offset.. The wheels are Coys. I ordered from them and they have rhe offset.

At the time was on a budget..It is big and bulky.. maybe one day i'll put the correct Ford distributor in.. Runs okay so far. i blew out the 3 speed which I knew was a matter of time. I have a tko 600 5 speed now. Next thing will be gears. I will go to 31 spline with true track 3:73.
