- So, thanks to a comment, I was reminded of a certain feature of this mod. Aside from that I'm proud of today's progress!
We need gold to do lots of things in Stardew Valley, but what if you couldn't even move anywhere without spending gold?! I'll be doing a perfection run with the Tileman Challenge mod where I'll have to buy my way around the map, and the cost will increase a bit over time, too 🫣

Use the elevator! It's only fair that you get to cherry pick levels when you have to pay for every tile.
Yeah, abuse the system. This mod nerfs you so hard. Take a very slight advantage where you can. You still have to pay for all of the mine tiles so you can exploit, but only if you pay for the relevant tiles.
Your choice.
Honestly, agreed. I assume it purposefully unlocks them all exactly because you have to pay for all the tiles anyway.
Unlocking all of the mine floors organically would be prohibitively expensive by tile cost. Just finding a stairway would be very onerous.

btw, strat for throwing things out of your inventory and not picking them back up: stripping! If you fill the empty spots with your shirt and pants (and rings/boots if you have them), you can't pick up the stuff on the floor anymore! Then you can retreat away from them, put your clothes back on and have inventory space. :)

You know, something unexpected that might be a good investment in this playthrough is the trash can upgrades. Being able to emergency trash things like forage and weapons to buy more tiles on the go might make them worth it.

Loving this series! I would absolutely encourage you to use the elevator. You are challenging yourself enough with the amount of fishing you're putting yourself through. 😂 Also clearing all the tiles in the CC rooms will be expensive enough.

If you want there to still be some sort of challenge to getting new floors, maybe just don't go to ice floors until you have a copper pickaxe, and don't go to lava floors until you have a steel pickaxe?
There's a setting in the UI info suite that makes the traveling merchant symbol disappear if you've already been. Definitely helps if you can't remember if you've been or not

Perhaps some kind of compromise with the mine levels? You have access to all the copper levels until you upgrade your pickaxe to copper, then you have access to the iron levels, upgrade your pickaxe to iron and you have access to the gold levels. Upgrade your pickaxe to gold and you have access to skull caverns and so forth.
I think you definitely deserve to use the elevator especially with all the glitches in this mod ♡
Love this series! I think using all the elevators is totally fine! getting around the mines is going to be expensive enough as is.

I do as well but the people around me dont always understand the chaos that is my mind and think that im just lazy qhen in reality im just overwhelmed and exhausted mentally 😅 thank you for inspiring me to become a youtuber as well. 0:49 Aha! It was you! You were stealing all my cockles! I had the worst luck foraging for cockles in my current save and eventually caved and bought a crab pot to finish the bundle; even then it took at least a week to get a crab pot fish that wasn't forage or a crab. (I believe I finally did get a cockle...from the crab pot).

Really? I've gotten like four cockles just on the beach in my playthroughz i'm at the beginning of summer year 1 and i donated the one, left one and just sold the rest lmao
@@midori8576 yeah, it's all luck based. for some reason that particular save was mean about it
not for the cc, but it took me ages to get a mussel from a crab pot to fill the slot on the "fish caught" page. had tons from beach forage and ginger islands but not one that i actually caught
You should use the mine elevator freely! In Settled's Tileman series, he originally was going to add 1000 xp requirement for a tile unlock as time went on, but after feedback and thought, he realized it would artificially and needlessly add so much time and grind to it when it doesn't really add to the series or enjoyment of the viewers by doing it that way. The mine elevator is essentially the equivalent. Forcefully going level by level doesn't really add much and needlessly adds to the grind without adding to our enjoyment (idk if it would add to your enjoyment, don't want to make presumptions!).

I’m so entertained with this series (the random remix was hilarious)!! It’s such an interesting concept and your way of gameplay is so awesome. Logically, using the elevators would be effective but I feel as though it contradicts the whole purpose of buying tiles while still progressing in the game. Maybe there might be some creative way to get the ores? I’m not sure, amazing video though!
The satisfaction I felt when you explained how you like to donate stuff to the museum lmao. I do the same thing. I like to have one table that's just bones, one table that's just manmade artifacts, one table that's just dwarf items (the scrolls, helm, gadget etc.), minerals and rocks grouped together, etc. so hearing that someone else also does this was sooo satisfying.
Look I only found you a couple weeks ago and you are RAPIDLY becoming my favorite stardew gamer.
I'd prefer to work to unlock the elevators, but I'm not gonna be upset if you don't xD I'm enjoying the playthrough so far!! excited to see how the progression goes!

I think you should use the elevators! Mine tiles reset every time you go inside right? I think that’s hard enough. Great job on the challenge though! You’re making great progress.😊

@@emmalution mines tiles reset back when you leave the floor i believe, which is why you can see the same room layouts on a specific level or reset with the elevator to get materials multiple times (like tilling spots on levels that have them)

You're already being challenged by having to buy tiles to use the mines. I think using the elevators is perfectly acceptable. They're unlocked for a reason.

I think it's okay either way with making use of the elevator; it's really just however you feel like playing the game and engaging with the mod. For alternative extra challenge, to mix things up a bit, you could have it be to fully unlock all reachable tiles in the mines rather than unlocking floors as usual. Could be a loose, eventual goal. Or could be must fully unlock a floor before you can go to a next one (but naturally can be selective which floors you choose to unlock). Or fully tile unlock the regular mines before you're 'allowed' to go to skull cavern.

Idk, if you like the challenge, I think playing through the mines is fun. :) That's what I've been doing in this challenge anyway.
In terms of the crab pots, I love the automate mod. Some people might think it's cheaty, but I feel like it's a quality of life improvement. I assume you've tried the automate mod before.

I feel like treating the elevators like they havent been unlocked could potentially become very confusing bc my adhd wouldnt allow me to keep track of my mine progress without them haha. I get not wanting to make it "too" easy for yourself, but ignoring them sounds like an actual nightmare 😂

If you’re paying every tile in each CC room before completing then I’d say use the elevators
If you weren’t paying for all tiles in the CC then you could do the mines normal but having to pay for both early game while needing it to progress the game goes beyond challenging into a not fun to watch struggle
Unless you really don’t want to just use the elevator this challenge already seems bad enough for you
