Yes, there are predators lurking everywhere so you have to be careful with your pets and make sure they are safe. Hugs. Britt o Gunnar.

Most likely owls indeed. Especially if it also happens after dark. Thanks for taking such good care for the birds. 👍

We have some birds of prey where I live in U.K. they go after the blue tits in our garden 😢 how can people say to let the birds free they must be crazy it would probably scare the birds to death to be let free and much too dangerous you guys do a great job of looking after your birds they are all so happy and I absolutely adore Sunni and Kassie many blessings to you both ❤

Kulluka - d'you you think the glass window at night just looks like an open space to fly through? And you cant have the blinds down all the time, as Denis said.
I saved an injured Jackdaw who flew smack into my window thinking it was open space, a few sparrows got a headache 😖, so l put 3 shiny decorations hanging on strings from the window frames outside. They swirl in the wind so the wild birds said "wth is that?" and they never hit my window again.
Maybe dangle shiny CD discs where your own birds can't see them, above the top of their window frame - to scare away the naughty ones? 💿 💿 💿

      We should hang something, too.

Well at least l offered a possible solution which worked for me, as you sound so distressed.
      I probably didn't explain it well 🥰

Yeah , we have those birds of prey to and they definitely target the wild birds that I feed! I’ve had to chase them off a few times! But sadly 😢I can’t always be around to chase them off and I found a couple of dead magpies in my yard after I got home from work. I know birds 🦅 of prey gotta eat to , but not in my watch if I’m around to chase them off!!!

Hi Kullike+Dennis - it's been awhile since I've checked your channel.
I live in southeast Texas - relatives live in the suburbs for 40 years. The forest (originally there) is being removed for housing. They've had owls in daylight looking for food.
A neighbor had their cat taken in their front yard in daylight by a coyote - he was running and without stopping took the cat.
Kullike - there are blackout window shades made of material that could go behind your blinds that would not show light. You are so talented - you'd probably make them yourself - then you'd have to put a rod that attaches to the shade - on second thought it might be cheaper to order them (already made) from a place like J.C.Penneys or other places -
Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Measure the size of the window and then just the inside part LxWxH.
So glad you're watching out for the birds 👍
P.S. - How and when did you get another cat? Was it a kitten or an adult?
    Stephanie

Bird on bird predation is so scary to witness. The Cooper’s Hawk in my area goes after the doves. I suspect the squirrels zig zag running into the bushes makes it too difficult for the hawk to catch them. Also Sunny is getting quite big!😻🫶🏻

Yeah, he is really growing and the squirrels are incredibly fast and can turn and jump at lightning speed.

Kulike- don’t listen to the ignorance of anyone who doesn’t know the dangers of having birds or small pets outdoors. My two Chihuahuas and cat were in the backyard and a Cooper’s hawk grabbed my 4 pound Chihuahua, the cat and other Chihuahua startled the hawk and he dropped her. Thankfully we have a 24 hour veterinarian close by. She had a cut on her eye puncture holes on her neck and the skin on her back split open. I could go on with the perils of even living in the suburbs with the wildlife all around us. coyotes out in Broad, daylight, etc.

Yes. The Coopers Hawk has been around my backyard last week. He was perched on the railing of my back deck waiting for bird or red squirrel to show up. He wasn't there long. I opened the kitchen door and he flew to neighbors tree up high. This also wasn't good enough for me so I went our towards the Hawk and clapped my hands repeatedly and loud. He flew off then. I see Sonny Boy pearing at the birds. He's getting a little older so you need to watch him near the birds. He is still a cat in his mind. He might not bother them when he gets used to them. Hope none of the birds fly down within Sonny Boy's reach. You never know. Or he might be okk with them. Kassie is used to them.

You are right he is a cat after all. We are constantly supervising him and they are use to him but we don't open the cages when we are not there. Sometimes Sunny is in his living rood condo we call it and then open the bird cages.

Shalom Dennis and Kullike, thanks for the Video, yes, its not easy to live on the Farm who is near the Forests, good that Sunny Boy is safe for now. I remember last year you talked about this that Sunny Boy was almost attacked. He is still very small. You have to learn frm Native Americans they always lived together with wild animals in the Forests. How is Kassie? No videos anymore with Kassie sadly you dont use anymore your channel morepetsandus.

What is it with people and birds? If you had a tank full of fish no one would tell you to tip them into the nearest river to swim free and fend for themselves. No one wants to release pet hampsters into the wild. You took on your birds when they needed help and now you have a responsibility to protect them from harm, which is what you do.

    • @chv72
      @chv72  9 месяцев назад +1

There is always someone that does not understand why we have them in a cage or aviary. They think it is cruel and why would anyone have a so called wild animal in an enclosure. Once they learn more about why, then some understand.
