- I go to Jeff Head to do some king salmon fishing. I didn't have long to fish but fortunately I caught a Chinook in 15 minutes. I show you what lure and flasher to use.

Beautiful morning and a fantastic fish, great job
Thank-you.
Captain, deck hand, and fisherman all at the same time. Marvelous fish!
Thank-you.
Awesome king salmon - congrats! If only every trip could start with a nice king salmon within the first 15mins! Tight lines! Captain Zac
Thanks. It would be nice. We are limited to one king in that area.
You will be eating good for a while! King Salmon are delicious fish. I look forward to seeing what you catch in your next video.
They are. I am gonna smoke most of it and it will last for weeks as a snack.
@@PeelingLine You are fortunate to be able to catch salmon whenever you want, they are one of my favorite fish to eat. What species of fish do you plan on fishing for next?
Those fish are insane! Love them.
Well done! Quick, successful mission 💪🏻
Thank-you.
Really nice one Brett. Great colors on that flasher
Thanks
Nicely done!! That smile say it all man that's salmon be a good meal
Thanks. It was.
Great timing! I just caught a decent King on the Puget today, off another freedom boat club boat! Great vid 👍
Thanks. It’s pretty convenient. Just the time savings of not having to load, wash and gas up the boat makes it worth it for me. I just wish there were Washington locations on the coast like port Angeles and sekiu and inland like tri-cities.
@@PeelingLine Hey Brett, there is a freedom club that started up in Port Moody a year ago. Could try fishing the Vancouver harbour sometime.
@@nuckguy252 I would love to but Canada wont let me back in unless I get vaccinated. There is a lot of fishing up there I would like to do and family to see. But currently were at a stalemate.
Talk about not wasting any time! Easy peezy!
Good morning and you can’t beat the taste of that fish!! 🔥
It is a tasty fish.
That was an awesome fight! Beautiful morning too. Fish was a beast 💪 ! I want to try some of those cut plugs for trout.
Thanks. They have smaller sizes for trout to use. But old boy at the tackle shop was telling me about catching 15 pound trout with 4 inch plugs. So maybe they aren't too big.
@@PeelingLine oh absolutely! I would use the big ones ! I run 6-9" stick baits all the time ! I like the action those cut plugs create. If I try one I will definitely say where I got the idea from 👍. Thanks dude!
Nice netting skills, that was a nice battle 👍
Thanks. It can be tough on your own but struggling on your own can be better than "help".
Looks like a powerful fish and some great meat for the table! Got what you were after!
Absolutely. I lost a much nicer one that broke the lure. Next time! Trying to get 20 pound keeper.
@@PeelingLine I'm sure you will!
Right on man purple haze flasher and Hawaiian brad plug my go to when nothing is working but I put hearing and Anchovy cent inside it works like a charm I all wanted to try it there but I’m have been doing good in point defiance cohos are starting to show up tight lines my friend
Thanks. I like purple haze flashers too. I lost mine and need to get another. I tried point defiance for a few hours last week but all we got were dogfish. I will have to try it again.
@@PeelingLine today was a good day lots kings and coho I’m going back there tomorrow
@@carlossales8710 I got a boat last week and went out but didn't check the regs until I got out. I wondered where all the boats were and then saw they closed it down half the week. 🤣
@@PeelingLine they did area11 wrong this year we only can fish Wednesday thru Saturday this past Wednesday was good some people got limited and some just got one fish I went two days and only got small shaker coho one good king on ran under another boat that was close to me and pupped off now I got wait to next Wednesday good luck out there.
The pescatarian usely post something I haven’t seen any thing from him try and hit up to see where he’s been fishing
@@carlossales8710 He got 2 kings and 2 coho today. A 9 and a 7 pound king If I remember right. He told me while I was grocery shopping. I will be out there on wednesday too. Come say hi if you see me.
Those pesky dogfish steal your lures Lol! Thats the kind of fishing I like, Brett- catch a giant king really quickly and have many nice meals ahead 🤣 Now you can get on with your day 👍🏻❗️
The blue Hawaiian Brad’s is a favorite of mine. I like a little anise gel on the outside of it. Not sure if anise attracts dogfish though, maybe I’ve gotten lucky.
Good colors. I haven’t tried anise. I usually just use herring scent.
Now that's how you do it Nice! And I don't think that was the fish.🤨🎣
Congratulations.
nice King Brett!
Thank-you
Beutfull catch
Big liiiiiike
Great video!! Your channel seems really cool! Just subbed too!!👍
Thanks.
Great video Brett. It looks like your boat had a downrigger. Did you use the downrigger and if you did what depth were you using? Thanks!
Thanks. I did use a downrigger and got this one at 80 feet. You want to look for the salmon marks on your fish finder and put you rig just above the marks. Lots of people say to put you rig right on the bottom but the fish aren't always there.
cant wait to head out this july
Me neither.
15 min? That's awesome! But a bit anticlimatic at the same time 😂great catch Brett
Thanks. I guess I have gone out and had it's taken all day to get one and even blanked time for them.
How do you find for Chinook? With Coho I used a combination of rollers, tide rips, fish finders, "ten feet per hour", starting early, and general local knowledge of spots and being honest, pure dumb luck as a result of the sheer numbers of fish, but besides two undersized blackmouth I had no luck with the Kings.
That 10 feet per hour thing is bullshit. Put the bait where you see the fish, below or above any bait balls or on the bottom.
@@PeelingLine So just fish them like Coho but slower?
Dude! Hammer time man. Where did you get the boat?
Freedom Boat Club Port Orchard.
@@PeelingLine what’s that costing?
@@outdoorproductreview $400 a month and whatever gas I use when I take out the boat. Pretty reasonable I think when the boat payments would be $1200+/month and I don't have to deal with cleaning, maintenance, fueling and the boat ramps. Down sides are no night fishing and some are places are off limits like juan de fuca straight (you can go to san juans and do overnighters).
@@PeelingLine not bad bro. Hey my buddy just picked up a Lund with down riggers and all the other day. So, I’ll let you know and we can do a collab and hammer some. Also, really gearing up for the river season. Plus leaving for my annual archery elk hunt in September in colorado and I also drew a second rifle mule deer tag that took 17 years to get in colorado too.
@@outdoorproductreview Congrats on the draw. I have a nice buck that keeps wandering in my yard. He keeps shitting on the lawn. Nice rack on him. I might go duck hunting this year (never hunted before). My friend also got a boat and that convinced me the boat club was the way to go. Also seeing people at the port orchard launch trying to get their boats in before low tide. One boat was out there (this day I went out) tied to the dock but sitting on a dry launch.
How long of leader does you like with your Brads cut plug for Kings?
I use them straight out of the pack but I think for any lures/spoons you want to keep it 42-60" from the flasher.
Nice! That's quality eating, no fish is better than salmon imo.
They are good but have you tried halibut and lingcod?
@@PeelingLine No sir I have not
@@EngineeringHooksets You will have to if you ever make it out this way. There are lots of people that prefer those to salmon. Most of the other people only eat salmon.
Very nice! How are you liking that boat?
It's awesome. Can't go wrong with the defiance boats. If I owned it I would definitely want to add a steering wheel outside. You can see in the video I had to run in after I got the fish and steer it away from another boat.
@@PeelingLine we have a 22’ admiral and absolutely love it! The rear steering wheel is amazing!
@@davidbutterfield9257 Definitely would help if you fish by yourself a lot (which I do).
What poundage was the line
I usually have 30 pound braid on my lines with berkley highviz or green and 30 pound seagar orange flouro. I have been upping the braid to 40# because the hiviz yellow power pro isn't as strong as the flouro and it can break at the braid and you lose everything.
Go out, catch a big fish in a short time, go home and take care of other things, how cool is that?
Great when it works out like that.
wish I can get out but nope
That's too bad. The bite is hot.
@@PeelingLine I used to get out all the time then that changed this year
