I like the wine 🍷 and not the label... best line
This is now how I describe my sexuality lol
I say I fall for the person and not the plumbing!❤❤❤
Favourite analogy for Bisexuality.
I have a tshirt that says this 😂 it took me forever to explain the difference to ppl and this is such an easy explanation
If he can Back That Up I already Love the Character.
The pansexuality is strong in this one
Mom and I were having the same conversation they were and I outright said “Oh i get it, he’s pan!”
Not really pan. Just a hoe
@@richkarter1916 my mind refers back to a movie with pan in it. Thats is my only reference. lol
I thought he was open with his alcoholic choices but did not realize it also involved his sexuality...awesome
@@Beachtrader0007not too great at reading ppl or situations I take it
Easily one of the best metaphors for preferences ever! Love the chem between these two in the show!
Well, they are brother and sister irl
@@caitfox No they're not. His sister is the one who plays Twyla in the Cafe
@@joshuamoran2356you are both wrong, twyla and the dark haired girl in this short are just friends to the family.
@@sweettea735 No Twyla is played by Sarah Levy , the sister of Dan Levy who plays David and daughter of Eugene Levy who plays Johnny
@@joshuamoran2356 I am so confused 😂 so Twyla is related to David who’s in the show irl?
Merlot that used to be a Chardonnay is seriously good writing. Works on many levels.
I'm only seeing the one obviously trans level. Please enlighten me on the others
I want to know too
@@girlgreenivycan you make Chardonnay from merlot? Is that why it works on many levels?
Please explain the other levels it works on, chief?
One is red grape and the other is white grape @@swearimnotarobot3746
I was really sad that they didn't get together, but then Patrick was just so adorable and I got over it. 😂
Truuue Patrick was. And I loved their relationship. But I still feel like Stevie should’ve been end game 😭 🤣
@@ThisIsNuckingFuts Or all 3 of them happily together-ever-after lol... I just want Stevie to be loved too 😭 😭 😭
Maybe this is a hot take, but for me, Stevie's journey was always about Stevie. Also, I think Patrick is ultimately the best fit for David because he's very grounding and down to earth, whereas Stevie does have the ability to lean into the outrageous when she feels comfortable. Stevie's journey of coming into herself and being comfortable in her own skin was much more important and that's why her performing in Cabaret left me in tears - she finally got to have the spotlight and feel encouraged and supported and accepted.
@@nevvins22Hardly a hot take, you're 100% right. I agree completely. It's just one of those things where... For me anyway, It might not be fully the ending I WANT but it's the ending that's RIGHT. I wouldn't change anything, there's just a part of me that wants to know Stevie found her person too.
@@ItsOkayCasey My takeaway is that Stevie found out that she actually IS content on her own, whereas she was merely PRETENDING she was at the start of the show and instead pushing people away. I think, looking back, that's also why she ended up having questionable friends and being a bit wilder than she might've initially seemed - she was longing for connection outside of herself, only to realize that she was fine just how she was and SHE needed to see and believe that.
Perhaps my favorite scene in the entire series.
Same so smart and tactful
It's so boring...
Not my favorite by any means but definetly the line that solidified my love for the show and put faith in its maturity and tactfulness in approaching these dicussions.
It's such a beautifully written, hilarious scene!
@@bethany9482then don’t watch it. Nothing can be appealing for everyone. But it seems like most people liked this scene. It’s fine if you didn’t enjoy it
The subtlety of this allegory is off the charts.
If it wasn’t her facial expressions there is no way I’d understand what the conversation is about 😂
I drink red wine and the occasional rosé but I can be tricked like anyone. I don't want to talk about wine anymore, I'm more of a beer guy, no not like that.
@@chucknutly3290..what?
Was the conversation not just about wine?
@nickschumacher4309 Seriously?
@@nickschumacher4309 no lol its about preference, straight/bi/ that sorta thing
Still the clearest metaphor for pansexuality that I've ever heard.
wasnt it taken from the game of thrones prequel?
@@shevahauser1780this was out for years before that show
@@shevahauser1780 That would be a little bit strange, since Schitts Creek ended two years before House of the Dragon ever began? Lol. I may be misunderstanding your comment though, I never watched GoT or the prequel
This world is doomed
@@hereweare9096yep.
The after show special they did with the letters from fans saying how much this scene helped so many people/kids come out to their parents had me crying not gunna lie, imagine just writing this scene and not realising how impactful it was going to be to so many people.
I was crying at that too. Had to find more Dan Levy projects straight after.
It's really weird that people "come out" at all. Like it's just sexuality. Nobody ever "comes out" as straight. If my kids ever came out to me I'd laugh in their face and offer them a cookie and they know it. Like, if you bring a boy home you being a boy home. If you bring a girl home you bring a girl home. Whatd you think i was going to throw a parade? Now leave your door open.
I bet the parents were crying more.
From a writer’s standpoint-Existing in such a way that you can understand the feelings and the situations of the people around you without knowing you even do so is a goal I strive for.
@@dantelibretatis5473now I feel bad for you
A merlot that used to be a chardonnay😆 oh manthat is good writing 😆
So, a trans guy

Such an harmless scene that not only conveys an important conversation, but allows others to have it too. Such a great way to present a polarizing subject and make it palpable! Genius writing, bottled lightning
Stevie and David had the best friendship ever
Me in the corner drinking bourbon: it’s all soured grapes to me.
every time i watch this scene i remember how perfect it is. the acting and the dialogue... so good lmao. her smile at the END!!!
David also mentions that he has sampled the “occasional rosé” which I interpret as meaning that he’s dated non-binary people which is incredible. This show is amazing.❤
Non-binary is a social construct invented by radical Marxist/Socialist who seek to break down social norms and destroy the capitalist system for they believe that the capitalism created the gender binary and the gender binary upholds the capitalist system. So to destroy capitalism they must first break down and destroy gender...
Some of the best writing to have ever happened on a show here👏👏👏👏
This is the best scene ever to be written in the history of history🌈💚
Not really but it's cute
nah
Yup, funny, witty, and respectful.
isnt it basically copying that scene in house of the dragon?
@@shevahauser1780 Well, technically Schitt's Creek came out first, so House of the Dragon would be the copier.
Omg I love this “like wine and not the label” is my life and I can’t explain it in any other way!
Stevie's smile at the end... everyone needs a friend like Stevie.
David explained it so wonderfully, any one could understand. ❤
I love how open they both are to having this conversation in a way that if anyone walked by they would have no clue what they are talking about. This is what best friends are made of.
One of the most underrated shows ever! Fact
When I first saw this scene I thought she was just a wine snob 😂🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Well, if I recall correctly, isn't she always? 😂
The perfect way to describe being Pan
She is the cutest thing! So is he.❤
I like her.
Simply the best people on the best show ever ever ever!
Loved this scene so much. It was also a sweet compliment to her
This should be our attitude about all people and the world would be a much kinder place! "I liked the wine and not the label"!
I LOVE how she just smiles and says “Yes, it does.” ❤❤❤
"just to be clear.." continues in full code not being clear at all
It’s very clear
In completely clear what they are saying. Pan is ❤
You can be clear while still using the same metaphor. She was confused. He made things clear. It didn't make things more confusing. It made it clear where he is at.
😅
Yes David, you make perfect sense and we love everything about you!! 😌❤
This was the most beautiful scene
This is the best coming out video ever
That's the best way to say you don't discriminate 😂😂😂
She is so cute and i love how he rolls with the metaphor, and she accepts it!!
I love this scene… it helped me understand so much❤️❤️❤️❤️
No show has made me laugh harder or more often than Schitt's Creek.
Absolutely loved this show!
I loved his character. He nailed it with 0 room for improvement because it's already perfection. That fact that he's actually the son of the father IRL, explains the perfection in the acting of the character.
I don't drink "red wine" but if he was like this character outside of acting, I would have him as my best friend!
I've not seen this show - random YT short - but I really love the acting from both in this scene. Tons of little inflections and body language, it's really nicely conveyed.
I love David’s facial expressions
"yes :) it does" love that
I just don't have the words to express how much I love this show. It was in its last season before I started watching it. I binged the entire series, that was the best month I've ever had watching a series.
This is from "Schitt's Creek". A Canadian sitcom.
I love this show SO MUCH!!!
I MISS THIS SHOW!!!!
It is this clip alone that caused me to want to watch this show. Love it. One of the best shows ever.
I really loved this show. So well written.
I love this scene so much it’s one of my favorites! I too like red/white wine ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved this show so much, every single episode gave me the feels.
My favorite scene from SC. Beautiful.
They atteded PRIDE with this on their tee- shirts 🌈❤
I wonder if anyone wore a shirt saying "Former Chardonnay?!?!" 😅
Omg I ❤ shitts creek
Lol!!! David!!!!!!!
Why is this kind of adorable?😂
Her smile of comprehension at the end is superb.
I was shipping them so hard... Then Patrick comes along

this was the moment I truly fell in love with this show
Love this show. The Schitt's were all messes!!

I think I understood maybe half of what was being said.
They were so cute together ❤
Great fuckin show Schitts Creek for those that haven't yet had the pleasure

What a powerful, beautiful scene. So well done by all involved.
“I like the wine, not the label” is a rlly good way of putting it
Not me only getting it now 😅
I love David and stevie!!
And that is how David explained to me very clearly my long struggle figuring out my taste buds, so I just like wine not the labels, well that was easy, ( in Alexis voice) thanxxxxs David.
Straight alcoholics getting really confused and bothered not wanting to miss out.
What is the rosé reference?
Since red wine is men and white wine is women, maybe rosé means a non binary person. And then, the merlot who used to be a chardonnay is transgender, I think.
One of THE BEST shows EVER
Love him in that shirt
I'm so tired! I was like, "I don't get it...why can't they get both wines?" "How did they change a Merlot into a Chardonnay??🤔" and then I read the comments and listened to it again. 😅😂
Schitt’s Creek is what prompted me to have the love is love convo with my kid. She enjoys the show and we were watching when she was like 6, so I explained that love is love and we finished enjoying the show.
What??? A six year old? Jeez-us 😮…when I was six my parents talked with me about trees and real birds and bees…I was able to be free of ANYTHING sexual….wow. Just wow.
@@Greend54 I mean, if I remember correctly, the worst they show is people in bed together. I also didn’t discuss anything sexual. I simply explained that sometimes guys love guys and sometimes girls love girls and that was that. But thanks for judging me! ✌🏻
@@Greend54What gets explained to a 6 year old about gay people is no more than they would know about straight people. Why do you think that conversation was sexual? That's weird.
@Greend54 oh but if it's in a stuffy, tax free building you can talk about pre marital birth, r@p3, t0tur3, to everyone of every age and thats fine? 😂
Pair a wine with your meal! New phenomenon to her!
One of the best shows ever produced IMO.

I'm so glad Hollywood is giving us such great moments and movie history such as this. This could go down as the single most impressive piece of acting ever. Thank you so much for putting on RUclips and thank you so much more for putting it in my feed. /S
Not sure if this even made it to the US, to even be classified as Hollywood. I could be wrong though.
@@Khyberizationit did eventually get onto Netflix US towards the end of lockdown Covid Days and ended up with a cult following in the US. So Canadian production/writing, and not technically Hollywood but did get US exposure, and was popular.
Excellent scene from an excellent show
Love this analogy!
I love his explanation
I never seen this show so it took me a moment to even realise he wasn’t talking about actual wine
I love that he was cool with the conversation even when he thought it was just about wine.
That's an adorable way to negotiate that information! ❤
