I just bought this set and this vídeo was so helpful to understanding how to apply the products cuz for sure I was going to over use the toner 😅. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
The Ordinary glycolic acid toner is a product that is so diverse. And it will last for a while. It’s one of my favourite products from The Ordinary.
Thank you for another great video 🌸💗🌸
I do not tolerate it well; it is too strong for my skin. But yes, it lasts forever; my husband is using it on his heels or other parts of his body so that we can use it all up 😜
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I like it as an antiperspirant, actually. I’m not a fan of (most) deodorants. They’re so sticky and messy and some of them don’t even smell that great. So I’d rather don’t smell at all. That’s what I’m going for and that’s what The Ordinary’s glycolic acid toner does for me. I’ve heard about it doing good stuff for feet as well. It makes a lot of sense if you know the whole idea and science behind the foot mask/foot sock mask thingy’s. It’s all about enzymes, urea and acids. Maybe even some sodium hydroxide aka lye, but I wouldn’t go that far - I still want some skin on my feet left 😸 But yeah, any of the alpha hydroxy acid, especially lactic acid and glycolic acid, it make sense. And then any fat occlusive cream will do. Even petroleum jelly - that might even be the best 🤔 And then a plastic bag over it and let it sit. I usually put knitted socks over the sock masks anyway and I think it might even make it a little more effective - you know, with the heat. But frankly, it’s just me speculating really 🤷🏼♀️
But yeah, there’s a DIY foot mask.
🌸💗🌸💗
@@rosemary5005 I haven't used it on my armpits so, I can not comment on that. However, if it works for you keep on doing it! :) Yes, I have heard of those feet masks, I haven't tried those though! I just use Glycolic Acid and a 'normal' moisturiser afterwards and that's it. It makes my feet so soft haha. I usually do this when I'm either laying down on the couch or just before going to bed! :)
Thanks for sharing your DIY! :)💕

Hi there! Your video is so detailed. Thank you so much. This is a life saver for me as I've only recently started getting into skin care. I have a question, I also have the hyaluronic acid and the glow recipe, but now I'm not sure where to put them in my new routine.

Hi melisa thank you for this vedio i have a question for you can i do make up after morning routine
Yes you can! :)
Hello Melissa, Happy New year. Thank you so much for this educational video. You are very patience, explaining everything very well. English is my second language and I understand everything you said. In the past, when I was younger, I use to go to the beach ALOT .
Due to that, I have dark spots and freckles. Do you think this set can help me with that or there are other products that you can recommend me from The Ordinary Skin care. I have looked for many reviews and you are the only person who really takes the time to explain everything. Thank you very much, God Bless you. 🙏🏻 A big hug from Miami Beach, Fl.
By the way, I don’t go to the beach so often now compared when I was younger Jejejejejeje and I use my Sunblock 🧴 and I go to the beach only to see the sunset or early to see the Sunrise. 😘🙋🏻♀️ Also, I would like to know if you have video about what products you Can and Cannot mix together.
I already subscribe to your channel and give you a like.
Hello Angela,
I think for sun-damaged skin, especially when the damage has reached deeper layers, over-the-counter topical treatments might not yield the desired results.
Regarding the freckles, acids like glycolic acid, or in my case lactic acid (since I don't tolerate glycolic acid well), have shown good results. In fact, my freckles disappeared entirely over the years, although I must admit that I almost entirely avoided the sun due to the pandemic.
However, for the dark spots, you may need to consult a doctor for treatments like hydroquinone, which should ideally be used under a doctor's guidance. Mechanical treatments like laser or microneedling can also be effective, depending on your budget, but these are likely the best options.
It's essential to use broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 50+ and PA++++) even when only going to the beach for sunset, to prevent freckles from persisting. Protective clothing helps too. I lived near the beach and mostly went out for sunrise or sunset, using sunscreen or staying under trees. Back then, I wasn't as concerned, but now I notice sun damage everywhere.
In summary, the bright set from the ordinary should show some improvement, especially with diligent sunscreen application habits. But remember, it might not be effective for deeper sun damage!
Hugs back from Luxembourg! 😉❤️

Love your reviews my skin thanks you
Hey! :)
If you enjoyed the benefits of the 15% Ethylated Ascorbic Acid serum, look either for a new Ordinary 15% Ethylated Ascorbic Acid serum or get one from a different brand.
I just got this set, and as well as the CeraVe moisturising lotion for dry skin with ceramides and hyaluronic acid in it. I’m new to skin care and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it’s ok to use this moisturiser after applying The Ordinary skin care routine shown in this video?
Yes, it's okay; they do not conflict. :)

Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution with the Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% because my face is oil and sensitive and i have never use The Ordinary skin product before this will be my first time
Hey! :)
Yes, that's fine. However, The Ordinary Ethylated Ascorbic Acid and Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin are both Anhydrous Solutions, so both have an oilier texture.
Are you looking for a water-based Vitamin C serum?

Hi melissa,i hope ur doing well.I have a question, can i use Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG and matrixyl both from ordinary together if not then what product can i use from ordinar that targets dark circles and fine lines please?
Thank u ❤
Well, dark circles are mostly caused by genetics, so I'm not sure how effective the treatments we currently use really are. But you can use them together! :) There's also the argireline solution you could try, and some even use Ascorbyl Glucoside to help brighten the eye contour, although I've never heard back from someone to confirm if that has actually worked. 🤔 But I mean, it's worth a try for sure. If I had such concerns, I would probably go with Ascorbyl Glucoside.
Hi, so i use glycolic twice a week and only at night. If im not using it can i use different toner like no.7 vitamin c toner if im not using it?
Yes :)
Can I do the morning skin care and make up after that?
Yes, that's fine! :)
Is that Ok if I do this routine daily, I mean using this products every day?
The video may be obvious but it's my very first time using skin care products, I'm trying to figure it out how it works 😅.
Thank you!
I suggest starting slowly with Glycolic Acid, using it only 2-3 times in your evening skincare routine before thinking of increasing the frequency as it can quickly lead to skin sensitivity when overusing it. Apart from that, there shouldn't be an issue ;) Just play around and test it, have fun 😉
Great video , but I am curious to know why for the night you used the vitamin c with the glycolic acid since I saw you shouldn't use them at the same time?
The Ordinary Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution has a pH range of 3.5-4.0. So it should not be an issue.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Ok thanks
if I would like to introduce the the ordinary Marine hyaluronic acid , which step it would be with Ethylated Absrobic Acid. I brought these two as a start up for my skin care and I am confuse now
Use it before Ethylated Ascorbic Acid.
Hi
Can I use hyaluronic acid, niacinamide n caffeine 5% same time
Yes :)
Hi!! Bravo for your great video 👍👍. I would like you to help me. I have the Arbutin, the Niacinamide plus zinc, the buffet and the argireline. I want to use them in the same routine. In what order would you recommend? Because the 3 of them are gel like serums. Also, which one could I use on the neck?? Thank you in advance!!!
Hey,
Well, technically, you use all of them in the same routine. However, based on my experience, it is too much for the skin, and therefore I recommend using only 2-3 serums in one routine.
AM:
Cleanser
Argireline (forehead and around the eyes)
Niacinamide
(SPF when exposed to the sun)
PM:
Cleanser
Buffet
Alpha Arbutin
And you can use all of them on the face and neck except for Argireline which should only be used on the forehead and around the eyes.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thanks a lot!!! Stay safe!!
Do we use it in the morning & evening “night”?
No, start using Glycolic Acid 2-3 times in your evening skincare routine. (to not over-exfoliate your skin) And then slowly increase the frequency over time if needed or tolerated (you need to figure that out for yourself) And you can use the rest of the products daily, morning and evening if you like, yes :)
for the ethylatic ascorbic acid product does your face have to be damp, dry, etc?
After cleansing, pat the skin dry with a clean towel to remove the water drops from the skin surface. If you use this serum after water-based toner and/or serums, let them absorb into the skin before using it on top.
I was wondering about moisturizer? Is it necessary or are the products nursing enough?
You don't have to use a moisturizer if the other products feels hydrating enough on the skin :)
Hi ❤️I’m new on your channel and in your country. So I don’t know English very well
can I use retinol 0.2% in squlane after using the bright set
I’m using retinol for my oily skin and I can tell I’m watching result in 4 days can you please tell me that can I use retinol after bright set ????????
Hello,
Welcome! 😉 And no, I do not recommend using it right after the bright set. What you can do instead is use the bright set one day and apply retinol on the next day; using them after another can lead to irritation and sensitivities over time.
Here is a guide for the application:

if i have azelaic acid acid suspension 10% when should i apply it with this set?
Use it after the Ethylated Ascorbic Acid Solution :)
Hi Melissa. My skin is oily. I would like to ask you if i can use my effaclar moisturiser after the ordinary ethylated? And also the ordinary glycolic acid, i only use it 3times a week because i just started. And for the ordinary ethylated, is it enough for brightening skin or i need to use it with other vitamin E product or others? Many thanks
Hello 🙃
Yes, that should be alright. However, please keep in mind to adjust it to your personal needs and preferences, and consider how it feels on your skin. Sometimes layering a moisturizer afterwards may feel too heavy or greasy, depending on the overall formulation.
And the vitamin c serum along with Glycolic Acid should be enough, no need to use anything else.
@Melissa Van Dijk Thank u Melissa. Is the ordinary ethylated, vitamin c serum? Sorry for asking stupid questions. I am new to this😅
I can't see your reply anymore. Did you delete it? But yes, the ordinary ethylated ascorbic acid serum is a Vitamin C serum. Ascorbic Acid = Vitamin C.
@Melissa Van Dijk Thank you Melissa. I haven't deleted it, don't know why.
I have everything but the ethylene asorbic solution can I still do the routine or no instead of that I have Evian facial spray and not sure where and when to insert it into the routine.
That is basically just water which you could use as a toner if you like, but I like to use these sprays just during the day to get a refreshing feeling 😉 And yes, you could still do the routine. Just skip that step.

does this help with eye bags
Like puffy eye bags? You may have a chance with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution.
I have a question Melissa. I keep seeing that you should use retinol on your face at night, is this set contain any retinol,? Or alternative? Many thanks 😊
No, the skincare set you are referring to does not include a retinol product. It only contains a balm cleanser, a Glycolic Acid exfoliant, an eye serum, and a vitamin C serum. However, you could add a retinol product on the days when you are not using the Glycolic Acid exfoliant, essentially alternating between the two.

Can I use the cleanser even if I have oily skin? I’m scared about the “on dry skin” even Before actually washing it and I really don’t want to clog my pores :(
It is a balm cleanser; it is applied to dry skin like oil cleansers. But no, it does not clog your pores if you wash it off properly. And it is suitable for all skin types. However, if you do not use mineral sunscreen or heavy makeup, it is likely not needed, and a regular foaming cleanser for oily skin works better! :)
So you dont need a moisturizer if you have the vitamin c serum?
correct, all of them contain hydrating ingredients, so technically, there is no need to add anything after. But you can if you feel that something is missing 😉
Can I wash my face first with cold water and soap?
Yes, this would be your cleansing step.
I want to bright the skin this products are good or not
yes
Can i use the ethylated acid in the morning?
Absolutely! Just to add, make sure to wear sunscreen if you'll be outside for any length of time.
Hi Melissa, just got my the ordinary bright set, my question is can i use also hyaluronic acid together with the bright set? If yes, when to apply thr hyaluronic acid in what sequence? Is it after or before putting the ethylated ascorbic acis solution? And can i use the ordinary natural moisturising factor after.
Thank you, please need your advice.
Hello Maricel,
Yes, you would use hyaluronic acid (water based) before ethylated ascorbic acid solution (anhydrous = no water).
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you, i will give an update as soon i see the results.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Hi Melissa i have additional questions, is it okay to use the hyaluronic acid both morning and evening?
@@maricelmaaranen5840 Yes :)
Hi Melissa after one month of using the bright set my face is a bet reddish and ichy. Then when i put the toner is has a little reaction. Do i need to continue the routine or should i stop using it.
All I can say Melissa...the coffee solution was for me to drying... I guess if you use a moisturizer immediately afterwards helps... will not repurchase again....the glycolic acid?!!!! Great product BUT, unfortunately to strong.. excellent as a body exfoliating product....perfect for the feet and elbows!!!...it can also " help" under your armpits...but beware.... not to often.....hahaha..like with most exfoliating products ...happy skincare!!
Yes, it would help if you balanced it with another serum. But it works well for oily skin types. Glycolic Acid is very strong; yes, you need to use it less often or probably not at all 😅 I think it depends on the skin and age. If you are older 50+, it may be very beneficial to use it daily. But most people around my age just overdo it, and therefore they end up with irritation... 😞
Hey pls which one is the best serum for brightening?
What would you like to do? If you're unsure, you might consider just buying the set. :)
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial my mothers skin changed to dark cus of sunshine so I wanna to get her a perfect serum to get her natural skin
@@user-ee4id9kn1t That's very nice of you. Overall, the best thing your mom can do is to avoid the sun as much as possible. Additionally, she should wear sunscreen with a high SPF and PA rating whenever she has to be in the sun. This will help fade her tan over time. Therefore, I would recommend investing in a good sunscreen for your mom. For example, consider the 'Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF 50+ PA++++'.
And which serum should her try to use?
@@user-ee4id9kn1t I think she doesn't need a serum, but if she does, I would probably recommend using The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner every other day in her evening skincare routine. This helps shed dead skin cells faster. :) Alternatively, as I mentioned, the set might also be quite useful. However, if she has to choose just one product, I would go with The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner.
Should I be using night cream/day cream as a final step?
Yes, if you feel the need of using a moisturizer. Otherwise, just skip it and follow with regular sunscreen during the day.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you!!
Hiiiii i wanted to ask you if its okay to use a serum that contains glycolic acid after the ordinary peeling solution❤️
AHA = Alpha Hydroxy Acids and Glycolic Acid is one of them. The Peeling solution contains a very high amount of Glycolic Acid so adding it after the peeling solution is not a good idea since you would exfoliate the skin twice.

Is it suitable for oily skin?
Well, Glycolic Acid is usually recommended for those with drier skin.
These would be the products for your oily skin - if you want to recreate the set:
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, Caffeine Solution, 2% Salicylic Acid Solution, Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution (water-based serum) or their Ethylated Ascorbic Acid Solution (water-free serum), (Optional) Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan.
You likely will prefer the water-based serum as the other one feels a bit like an 'oil'...
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial if I use this recreate set, can it brighten the skin?
In what sense do you want to brighten your skin? It won't make your skin tone lighter but rather reduce hyperpigmentation, such as dark spots after acne or sun spots, etc., and it can give you a nicer, dewier, and more even appearance.
Am I the only one getting pimples after using bright set? 🥺☹️ how can I resolve it?
How often do you use glycolic acid, and does the set fit with your skin type and needs?
I dont get pimple but after using it my mom said " sienna ur face is bright red 💀"
For taking off eye makeup prior - can I use Miscellar Cleansing water and follow up with the bright sets cleanser on face?
Also, can I add The Ordinarys Moisturizer as the final step after?
All of this is okay under every day makeup?
Thank you in advance.😊
