    Bloody brilliant Mate, thanks for the informative and step by step video.
    Saved myself $900 for a new alternator and replaced bearings for $24.

    Hey Matt, I have repaired many alternators on my JD tractors. A reman one is over $300. A pair of bearings is $10. I do like your repair videos. Keep them coming. My favorite is the 7 rod welding demo!!

    I subscribe to the AvE method of renaming everything. So rectifier becomes rectum fryer. Kinda appropriate if you don't get all the connections back together properly. You'll really let the smoke out then. :)

    Well done, Matt. I now feel qualified to overhaul my .... um, toaster. 😃⚡ I think I'll stick to my spark plugs and batteries. HA. Always nice to learn about how it is "supposed" to work even if just for troubleshooting awareness. Speaking of learning, I was really expecting some scientific (complicated?) way of putting a load on the alternator and then you went ahead and showed us what is going on behind the curtain! - huge light bulbs?! No way! hahaha. Well, it doesn't have to be complicated but just burn a few electrons for testing. Geez!

    That’s good Matt, you can keep an alternator going virtually indefinitely with bearing and brush maintenance which is not hard. Can you show how you get the rear bearing out if it stays in the housing, that happens sometimes. Jeff

    • @thejacksonbrothers
      @thejacksonbrothers  3 года назад

      Yep if they don’t get hot they can last a long time👍 quickest way to get it out is to drill 2 or 3 small holes in the back of the housing and use a pin punch to hit it out👍 not sure if I’ll be doing another alternator video but I’ll try to remember to show it if I do😁👍

    Great video mate, currently mucking around with an alternator on a komatsu forklift. Drains battery overnight and charge light not working.

    • @thejacksonbrothers
      @thejacksonbrothers  3 года назад

      Thanks mate, if alternator is what is draining the battery then I would suspect that the regulator is faulty and it’s keeping the rotor energised👍

      @@thejacksonbrothers it has just had a new alternator fitted. But the dash needed a new ribbon for the lights to work, which I have just fitted. The lights all work except for the charge light it does not come on at all. I suspect the alternator is wired wrong. It does charge at 14.7v.

    • @thejacksonbrothers
      @thejacksonbrothers  3 года назад +1

      Hi Ryan, just got them from local bearing shop, most alternators use easily obtainable bearing👍

      @@ryanwilling6302 if it’s a denso alternator which it should be you may need a special puller tool to separate the housings, you might be able to make something up though👍
