Winnie reminds me so much of my own shih tzu (muffy.) I started watching your channel Winnie the Tzu a few years ago. I don't think most people realize what a blessing our dogs are.
Jen I love love love ur beautiful videos! Thank you for sharing these amazing adventures with us all. Last year was the hardest year of my life and getting out traveling and being in nature is one of the things that helped me get through it all. You’re such a sweet person and I hope you’re doing well and that 2022 is an amazing year for us all! 🥰👍🏼💗
That area is about an hour drive from my home. I was so excited seeing you visit us in Ohio! There are many places to stay in that area. I have stayed in treehouses in Berlin Ohio. It is a beautiful part of Ohio. Welcome to our state. Thank you for sharing!
I live in Ohio and we camped in Millersburg last spring. W e had our grandchildren, and they were so interested in the Amish culture. It is a beautiful and peaceful area. I love watching all the unique areas you visit!
I am not a prude or a diva or anything like that but to me that place felt dirty. Not rustic or cute but cringe worthy dirty. Exploring is great and something i often do but i have standards. In Covid times, in my opinion, filth equals germs. I am glad you enjoyed it, it’s not for me. Sugar creek was awesome.
It was very clean actually. Perhaps the decor maybe made it look that way to you? - shabby chic has a rustic feel to it. Plus keep in mind I filmed my tour right before leaving, not upon arrival, so I had already spent 2 nights there and burned a few fires, we probably brought a few fall leaves in, etc. Of course it’s important to do what feels right to you when traveling during these times, but I wanted to share that the place was well cared for.
If you’re comfortable I’d be so interested to hear how you budget for the financial side of these trips. To travel in this way is my absolute dream but the financial aspect of it seems so daunting and makes it feel impossible. Thanks for always sharing a piece with us. You should come check out New England next, LOTS of hiking and beautiful places like this!!
@@LisainCalifornia Jennifer has spoken in a previous video about how she now has a budget. Something that she didn't really need to have previously. So even if her means are more than some other people she would still need to plan according to her available funds.
When I was a young girl we had popcorn and Milk for dinner every Saturday night. Mom popped a small washtub full of popcorn in an old pressure cooker snd our milk was Carnation instant milk. We could eat all we wanted. On Sundays we had ice cream and cake for supper. I didn’t know until I was a fully grown adult that we were very very poor and this was my moms way of giving a small treat to her 5 kids. She was a single mom and she did a great job of not only making us feel special but also not letting us know how poor we were. We thought we were the luckiest kids in the world to get to eat these things for dinner every week.
Have you heard of Hocking Hills in OH? It's Southern Ohio it's in Logan, It definitely does not look like it belongs there. tons of trails and cliffs, caves gorges and waterfalls.. ITS STUNNING! also ALOT A little cabins and treehouse cabins! Definitely a good place to go between Spring and fall... Winter too but you won't get the full effect
Arthur, IL is an Amish community! The restaurant has amazing food. Plus shops to buy their products. The kids would love it too! That was always the 8th grade field trip to Arthur from my tiny town outside Springfield, IL.
I’ve been a huge fan of your channel for many years and you have inspired me to step outside my box in many ways. I’ve been into taking day trips to Utah a few times a year where I have enjoyed checking out vintage/antique shops and seeing new sights. It brings me joy and that’s what I’m going to keep doing even though some folks have made comments about the drive (hour and a half away).
It not strange at all; we drive eight hours very frequently for short two day trips. Our life is quite hectic and if we don’t do this, I personally would go quite nuts!!. Enjoy your adventures and make good memories when ever and however you can. My personal motto: Life is hard and we should make happiness happen.
I just can't imagine driving that far to stay there in the winter. The Amish communities are more fun spring through fall. Farmers markets, cute shops, and great restaurants.
I have relatives there in Galion , Ohio Which is 60 miles south of Columbus. I went with my parents I think in 73’. I love God’s country and was able to see Amish places. I was so amazed because it felt like seemed seeing a movie Seeing the carriages and the people. How I miss it…M❤️M of 5
OMG!! I just stayed there back in November. It was so amazing in the tree house! Even used the outdoor tub then. It was the best experience. Get some cheese next time you are there from Heine's! And any bakery will have the most amazing donuts. Amish country in that area is so fun.
I find the Amish fascinating too. I have read many books, especially Christmas themed romance books that are set in Amish country with the people. There are also some great cozy mysteries set in Amish country, with both Amish characters and non-Amish characters. The food in Amish country sounds so delicious to me. They make something called "pot pie" that doesn't have a crust, but thick egg noodles. I would love to visit there one day.
I know loads of people like these tiny houses, and I can see why but this place looks so sad and not clean. Can I ask what is the goal for your channel? Are you a travel guide? or just making home videos for yourself? I often feel like you are not happy with this kind of content. Maybe it's just me. Hope you are ok.
You should check out the book The Salt Path by Raynor Winn. It's about a couple who lose everything and decide to hike and wild camp on the South West Coast Path in England.
The cute clay animation and then the beautiful scenery. It's absolutely gorgeous. I can't imagine how peaceful it is there because when I look at it I feel peace. It's like I'm going to these places with u
That was a cute place! I am here in Indiana and we also have a bunch of Amish around me. I see horses and buggies all the time and in the summer I always see a bunch of Amish girls riding bikes down the country roads...We have a couple Amish stores right here by me and they are fun to go in. ✌❤☺
I once drove to Florida for a long weekend... left Thursday afternoon & was back Monday evening. I'm from Toronto :) So zero judgement here 🤪 Thanks for sharing your adventures
Ahhh I love this. I’m sitting in bed with my kitty after a hot shower. Worked for 5 hours and got home exhausted. Nice to relax with you my friend. I will caution you when researching about the Amish community, how do I say this in a YT friendly way? Hmmmm something that I’ve heard is common or known about this specific community is there is some s*xual a*use…if you get my drift. I encourage your research and I think curiosity is amazing but I can’t encourage it without also warning you.
Thanks for the video. As a viewer from outside the US, I'm curious about what are the safety guarantees of staying here (or any similar place that you rent short-term). Is there anything that stops a cray-cray person walking up to your house in the middle of the night? Is it just that these things never happen in these communities? Or are these facilities within a gated community area? Are there several of these houses guarded by a guard (even if we don't see anything in the immediate surroundings)? Thanks in advance
I just love your videos. Your adventures make me want to go try some of these things. It just seems like a wonderful way to relax and get away from everything and enjoy nature.
This is a little too primitive for my taste. I’m a little weird about where I bathe and I wouldn’t be able to take a bath in that dirty tub. The furniture seemed cheap too, especially the outdoor furniture. For the price they charge they should upgrade those things.
I'd be curious to know how you plan and budget for travel, too There must be a balance between solo trips and trips you take with your children (and don't feature online -- totally understand your need for privacy) What kind of restorative trips do you take with them to help keep them moving forward (I love the way you phrase that).?
If you find that you do enjoy the Amish culture, i think you’d like the Amish novels by Beverly Lewis. I absolutely adore them. I just love all the self sufficiency, living off the grid and the way they hold on so dearly to the old fashion life skills that seem to be sadly dying out so quickly this day in age. Thank you for sharing as always 💗
I love this content. I'm such an introvert This reminds me to get out of my shell. But, really I'm not quite as brave as you. Hugs to you and your little family and of course sweet Winnie. ~Jess
I love this exploration journey so much for you. I know some people have given you a hard time, suggesting you’re running away from what’s at home, but I believe 100% you are running toward the most complete and full life you and your beautiful babies can have together. Big hugs. ❤️. Please, if you ever come up to MN or western WI, give me a shout.

I’m a single mom of one and you have inspired me to get out there and treat myself to solo trips, because I deserve them.
We make the Ritz with peanut butter dipped in chocolate around Christmas. Add Christmas sprinkles or peppermint sprinkles. Yum!

Cool! We live near Cleveland and have been to this area once, thanks for showcasing it.
I live in the middle of Amish country. I am in Lancaster, PA. So I interact with them on an almost daily basis.
Oh my....I love your new videos of cool places to stay with Winnie....hugs from AZ!!

Yes! I have a few hocking hills spots saved in my wish list

Peter Santinello on RUclips has a brilliant video series about the Amish. We're from the UK so found it a fascinating thing to watch with our girls. X

I make those chocolate covered ritz crackers every Christmas. It is a tradition in my family.
I love these videos. You should try coming down to Kentucky and stay at the Red River Gorge Treehouses.

Love this ❤️ I was wondering what website you use to find these adventures I hope to do this this summer Thank You
Airbnb ☺️
Nice 🥰
You didn’t go to Der Dutchman, or Lehman’s or the humongous Christmas shop. You missed so much
Or Mohican State Park for hiking, even in winter it is beautiful!
You should get the Caleb Bender Daughter's book series. By Dale Cramer. It's 3 books on the series. Love it. It's about the Amish. ♥️
Thank you!

Another beautiful spot!
Truly!
Hi Jen! does it have a guest book? just curious, I guess
This one did not, I believe, but most Airbnb’s I’ve stayed at so far have
❤🥳👍
You should check out Lynette Yoder on RUclips and Instagram. She’s Mennonite but gives good insight on Amish living and her channel is breathtaking.
Thanks for the rec!
