    My acorn CNC when I drive my X axis 24 inches it actually moves 24 1/4 inches. How do I fix that

      First did you download the Acorn Installation manual ? It's explained there.
      Use the Centroid CNC Users forum. Post a fresh report and ask your question there. But it IS explained in the installation manual which can be found on Centroids website

    I ran this test and had no problem, but after connecting it to the VFD, the voltage was severely loaded down, reading about a third of what it should be, and was jumping around. Turned out that not shielding the cable carrying the analog command to the VFD is a BAD idea, at least for my setup.

      Make sure you only ground the shield at the Acorn end and only to one common ground point.

    Marty, If this was working and now not getting any output but everything else is working fine. What have I screwed up LOL. I was trying to wire it to a KBSI-240D so clearly I did something wrong.

    Thanks Marty. Somehow I missed this in all the prior videos I watched. How do I calibrate these settings so that the spindle is running at close to the RPM my g-code is setting. I have a 24K spindle that I use for carving wood most of the time around 10K to 12K but when cutting fine inly pieces the spindle speed goes way up. Thanks...

      Go to the Centroid Users forum, look in the Acorn knowledge base first page VFD Tuning

    Hey Marty can you explain what the limit spindle analog output to 0-5 volt option in the Acorn 4.8 update .

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  2 года назад

      Primarily for spindle drives that only take 0-5vdc. However, remember that signal still need to be isolated

    Hello Marty, can this test be done after the fact? I bought my board before this test existed and my machine is all assembled and VFD is hooked up..Also do I need to update to the latest version of Acorn for this test to work? Thanks for your help

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  2 года назад

      Yes you can do it and yes you must (and should) upgrade to the latest version of CNC12

    Do we have to hook up our spindle to a VFD? I've modified all my manual machines to run off of DC treadmill motors that run off of around 110vdc and range between 2 and 3 HP. I was hoping do the same with a cnc taig lathe. Would this be possible Marty? Thanks.

      How will you change speed

      @@martyscncgarage5275 Hi Marty, thank you for your reply. Sorry if I sound ignorant; I'm very new to this all.. With my manual machines I wired up a circuit with a speed controller. It has a potentiometer that changes the voltage and the motors' rpm. I had seen a comment from you under one of Franco CNC's videos about a KBSI-240D or a similar product for applications without a VFD. Would that type of setup work for a treadmill motor?

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  2 года назад

      @@backyardmachinist depends on the speed controller you use but yes, most likely. You can always just use a relay output assigned to SpinFwd to turn on and off your motor controller with M3/M5 commands. Will be up to you to set the speed

    Does the maximum speed depend on your spindle motor or do you have to bench test with 0 and 3000 rpm?

    • @martyscncgarage5275
      @martyscncgarage5275  Год назад

      The Spindle Bench test Macro requires you to set the software 0 to 3000

      Be sure to explain your setup, pictures, what kind of spindle drive/VFD etc. Also please post a FRESH Report, F7 Utilities, F7 Create Report. All Acorns are tested before they leave the factory and you are supposed to do a bench test and check the spindle output before connecting anything.
