These are rituals from my place ... the coastal region of karnataka. These divine rituals brought people together and saved the king cobras and along with it the rich dense forests ... do not comment if you are not aware of a tradition and the feelings of the people.
These are the age old cultural traditions of the Tulu-Kannada people of Coastal Karnataka. There are well founded meanings in them. Just because we have had some (higher) education doesn’t mean we should question or reject them outright! Long live Tulu-Kannada Culture!
Was there more to this than to just bring people together? What is happening between the spirit and the community? Does the spirit pass through everyone in the community? Or is it purifying the land ? And is that rice that is being offered ? Sorry for so many questions but even though I am a Shetty I am not aware of these traditions

They Believe Cobra snake is God,So snake God entering Human body ( Naga Paathri ) and he dancing,behaving or acting like snake movement.. This is called Naga- Mandala in Dhakshina Kannada & Udupi ₹
@@yahudahs512 The thing that he is holding is called 'Singaara' or 'HombaaLe' in Kannada which is nothing but areca flower. That grain like thing inside that flower grows on to become arecanut. That flower is normally given to Naga (Snake God) as offering, as it is believed to be its favourite flower. Arecanut is the most grown commercial crop in coastal Karnataka. And for this ceremony many hundreds, if not a thousand have to be gathered. So it's a great deal of sacrifice involved. Although devotees could bring these flowers as offering, organising family or committee must make sure that there is no dearth of it. As for your second question, I'm not sure about this but I think it's more of the deity choosing the person than a person choosing the diety to possess.
Dear you can not afford this ritual. To do this complete ritual you may need Rupees 25 lakh upwards.. It is performed very rarely in temples and if any individual wants to do it he has to be a super rich..
