What I fear the most is hurting those I am responsible for
      But out of these
White: I get it but don’t fear it
Blue: i definitely don’t fear it
Black: I can see why it would be scary yes(it resonates with me)
Red: I definitely understand this one(I resonate the most with this one)
Green: I both fear and don’t fear it(I care more about the loss of consent then the body itself)
I would say I am mostly green but I play black the most

I'm firmly Mono-red, and the idea of being possessed absolutely terrifies me. Not just because of the loss of freedom and expression, but also because if I was aware, and I saw what I was doing to the people around me, and had no way of stopping it, I'd never be able to shake that guilt or even live with myself even if I broke free from it.
And the aftermath would be just as bad. I would be living with a constant reminder that through me, through my weakness, something else hurt the people around me, to say nothing of the fact that no one would trust me anymore, and I'd be left alone, having to either live as a recluse or find some way to rebuild my life by myself with memories that would undoubtedly cause immense fear for the rest of my life, to say nothing of the fact that even if I went to therapy and tried to talk about it, I wouldn't be taken seriously. The more I write this out, the more terrifying it becomes.

Each of those fears is something out of control, but also something that could be fought back, even the possessive demons. It's kind of interesting to flip this around. Pair up each fear with the enemies colors and you get a different perspective on that color combination:
    White fears Black/Red (Rakdos).
    Blue fears Green/Red (Gruul)

Fear of the unknown (blue) is a bit scary, but also fascinating.
Fear or bodily transformation / body horror (green) is scary, but medicine can prevent the worst cases (usually. Still scary).
Fear of (serial) killers (white) makes sense, evil people are more common than we would expect, but falling victim to them is statistically unlikely.
Authoritarian regimes / religious fanaticists that abuse power to control our lives or even thoughts are not as unlikely. Especially when we look at the world and how radical politicians and movements are gaining power in so many countries.

  • @EmpathNaga

Here's what I think from what I understand of each color's identity and core philosophy.
White fears that which attacks at its core - anything that disregards law and order and callously attacks for its own reasons, or even for its own enjoyment.
Blue fears what it can't understand. It seeks to know about everything, but it's so logical that it can't rationalize things like emotion and instinct. Anything it can't outsmart, blue fears.
Black fears the loss of its individuality. The process of being subjugated into some great scheme or cult, into a system where you are expendable, would be its worst nightmare.
Red fears subjugation. Red stands for freedom and emotion, and so everything that tries to suppress it is its worst enemy. Whether that be from possession or from an institution.
Green fears going too far with advancement. Surgical body horror, artificial lifeforms turning on their masters, dependency on artifice, these are all perversions of nature.

My $0.02 - First, I think unrecoverable loss of knowledge would be up there in the Blue fears, alongside the impossible to know. A "Flowers for Algernon" situation, where they know they used to know more, but can no longer recover that knowledge and never will.
It also made me wonder about horrific cards that could be made for each of these fears. My imaginary cards....
White's Fear ("Slasher") - 2/2 Citizen. Has Haste, Vigilance, Indestructible. During each upkeep, the active player gains control of Slasher. At beginning of combat, Slasher fights target creature of active player if able. If the creature dies, put a +1/+1 counter on Slasher. It then fights up to one target creature the active player does not control. If the creature dies, put a +1/+1 counter on Slasher. Slasher must attack each turn if able. If Slasher is sent to the graveyard or exiled, its controller move all counters on it to a target creature and returns Slasher to the battlefield untapped with 2 +1/+1 counters on it.
Blue's Fear ("Flowers for Algernon") - Enchantment? For all players, as an additional cost to cast a spell or play a land, discard a card or sacrifice a non-token permanent. Mill X, where X is the mana value of the spell cast or 1 for a land. If any card would go to the graveyard, exile it instead. Cards may not be cast from exile.
Black's Fear ("Permit A-38", or "Another Brick in the Wall") - Enchantment Artifact. All Enchantments and Artifacts are copies of this card. No abilities other than the ones on "Permit A-38" may trigger or resolve. All instant and sorcery spells are countered. All Creatures become Colorless 1/1 Creature Type - Creature and loses all other abilities, card types, and creature types.
Red's Fear ("Not in the saddle anymore") - Enchantment? After the Untap step and before the Upkeep step, the active player flips a coin. Spells that manipulate this coin flip do not affect this spell. If there is only one opponent, and it is heads, the opponent controls the active player this turn. If tails, the active player takes their turn normally. If there is more than one opponent, and the flip is heads, the player to the active player's left controls the active player this turn, and if the flip is tails, the player to the active player's right controls the active player this turn.
Green's Fear ("Cancerous Growth") - Enchantment? Unmodified creatures deal combat damage to creatures in the form of +1/+1 counters. Modified creatures deal combat damage to creatures in the form of -1/-1 counters. If a creatures would do combat damage to a player, the player may sacrifice a permanent they control and put that many +1/+1 counters on the attacking creature instead.

White's fear can be manifested by black or red the strongest, with green a close second and blue a distant third.
Blue's fear is mainly itself, which is oddly fitting, though black and white are also capable of manifesting things that blue can't fathom, and red is effectively truly random - a bane to blue's goal of perfection.
Black's fear is strongly seen in white, but also seen in Blue, as the best ways to embody blue cause confinement and loss of self as a side effect.
Red's greatest fears also come from White and Blue, as there is no room for freedom in White's communal patterns, nor any room for spontaneity in Blue's rigid studies.
Green's greatest fear is Black and Blue, as Black will change you and Blue will experiment on you. Psychologically, White fits as being forced into a strict code of behavior will make you feel like you have changed against your will.
My fears fall into every category except white.

White's biggest fear pair is Orzhov - People following law can be corrupt and evil
Blue's biggest fear pair is Dimir - Hidden knowledge that destroys from within
Black's biggest fear pair is also Orzhov - Corrupt and evil, but forcefully law-based
Red's biggest fear pair is Izzet - How much control is given to the machinery over the will?
And most obviously, Green's biggest fear pair is Simic - Literally exactly what the video says

I find it interesting that the fears for Black and Red can actually be swapped, with possession Horror becoming a reminder that Black often deals with powers far above it, and can go from making tools of darker powers to being a tool of one. Meanwhile Institutional Horror can crushes the expression and freedom of red by forcing order and repetition for the sake of control, creating a system that makes their individual expressions not something to be celebrated, but to be feared.

Blue counters show blue fear disappearing with no notice, without even leaving a mark in history.
White exile show that worse then death it's being ahunned out of a community.
Black -×/-× show that black fears most of all the loss of power and being diminished.
Green bites show that while nature's cycle is inevitable, losing one's identity and becoming nothing more than prey for bigger creatures is nonetheless scary, and the artifact removal shows us that also loosing contact with nature is equally as scary.

I would amend the Green section by pointing out that cybernetics and technology could just as easily be seen as a form of body horror to Green. Afterall, what is more in violation to the sanctity of life that perverting and replacing it with technology?
I would further argue that Cyberpunk as a genre is also something which would horrify Green by its nature. The desecration and replacement of life and its beauty by cold and sinister technology and machinery, the defilement and destruction of the natural world as its paved away to make room for choking urban sprawl, the loss of of the interplay between individual and species to the grinding pointless march of industrial labor and post-modern moral degeneration. To a classic Green, there is nothing more frightening and disgusting than the foibles of the Industrial Revolution taken to their logical conclusions.

With the way you're describing it, Blue would seem like the opposite embodiment in perspective. Using cybernetics and technology to advance/break beyond the natural limits.
Though I think combining both would be a more realistic approach, as you could take advantage of cybernetics and technology, but at the same time, be conscious about the consequences.

The one fear that resonates the closest to me is what Black fears. I've already have bad experiences with the institutions of today, and to think about the loss of autonomy and agency freaks me the hell out to this day. Outside of that, I would say that what Red fears comes second to me, for similar reasons as before.

Since I was a child… i have been trapped suffocating being forced to play the white and the blue to think rationally and inquisitively so it would only make sense I bolted to the other side the second I learned I was in a cage. Red and green have always been the core of my identity but occasionally I’ll slip to white and occasionally I’ll slip to black.
White: I do not understand a senseless killer and thus I fear for survival but I do not fear what they represent.
Blue: knowledge that is shared, that is sought out of curiosity or out of necessity is power to make accurate decisions and so it does not scare me that there is knowledge that would destroy me if I were to know… but rather I welcome its domination for I am but a peice in this puzzle.
Black: I fear losing myself, I fear the loss of my freedom but I don’t fear my death and as such I would rather die then surrender to self imprisonment… i know what it feels like to be caged… and if there is no way out… if my mind and soul betrays me and i cannot escape as I have before I will fall to the final death.
Red: to lose autonomy is my worst fear. I thought black had convinced me until you said that because i would choose eternal torture and doubt of myself over watching myself with NO input. This desire for autonomy was SO potent i have DID with little to no amnesia walls because i feared the loss of my time when it first started.
Green: I don’t know why but body horror is something that is a phobia definitely.

I find myself fearing that of the Black and Red fears the most. I noticed my Naya self deliving into Black more and more, but to see that I ultimately fear Losing my identity, and control.. That's the two things that terrify me the most. Like, the idea of a person going dark and killing people suddenly, bad, but not too scary. The cosmic horrors are never meant to be understood, so that scares me the least. Body horror is terrifying, yes, but it does not personally scare me more than being stripped away from everything I had worked hard for, and everything I hold dear, because to me, that is the one horror that suppresses me, and so many other people in this day and age, and What scares me the most about it is that one day, it might win.

I feel I have to disagree with the idea that white sees people as inherently good. If people are inherently good, then a world of pure freedom and self directed ambition like Rakdos would be perfectly palatable to White. After all, if people are inherently good, then by and large, their self-directed ambitions would likewise be good.
But White instead believes goodness must be imposed externally through higher powers like Law and Authority instead of it being a natural quality. I think Red, more than White, sees people as inherantly good.

I don’t think you hit the nail on the head for Black. What you described can really apply to Red too, Red is all about identity and self actualisation. So what you said for Black applies more to Red and what you said about Red feels like a smaller version of blacks fear.
However I think you got close on one word, mirror.
Black fears itself, either what it is capable of or another, stronger black mana identity winning the struggle of life. Green and White dont fear the idea of something stronger than itself being in charge. Black however does, black fears its own capability and the idea that another could do to black what it has no issue doing to another. It’s this hypocrisy that is so ingrained in black that almost all villains are attributed to black mana in magic the gathering. While I think you’re partially right that their identity being stripped scares black, I find it makes more sense to say that black fears a true sense that they are not the most important feature of the system.
This is just my thoughts and I love the video!
I think you hit blue and green perfectly without any hiccups. White also is a very fun concept, that white fears an intelligent disregard for their system. White fears The Joker, white Fears Jekyll and Hyde, white Fears the idea that the system is flawed or can’t be improved but must be replaced. I think Red fears white the most with my previous statements.
    Amazing work!!

    • @valutaatoaofunknownelement197

I guess what you mean is, because Black represents individuality, it often places itself at risk of self-termination by it's own hand, Whereas White, on the institutional and perfectionist level, fears the concept of flaw and failure.

  • @hatimzeineddine8723
    @hatimzeineddine8723 3 месяца назад

gonna be honest, I disagree with all of your takes here and feel that you're 0/5. I would see each of the color's greatest fears very differently
White fears situations where every choice requires compromise on your ideals, a world like frostpunk, where genuinely every choice is a sacrifice and survival without compromising on your ideals is impossible.
Blue is close, but I think more than being afraid of harmful knowledge it's afraid of losing all of it's knowledge and skill. Stuff like dementia or just death where all of your accumulated knowledge is lost and will never be passed down.
Black and Red are switched. Black fears nothing more than the loss of control, because control of themselves and their world is the one thing that keeps them safe. Red on the other hand fears ego death more than anything; to be boring, mediocre, not because you can't be better, but because you don't want to.
Finally Green fears the concept of perfection more than anything because to be perfect would mean to have hit the pinnacle of growth, and to stop growing is to stop living.
