- How to braze steel pipe with Muggy Weld SSF-6 56% Silver Solder and an oxyacetylene torch.
A propane torch with a trigger start tip will work in most situations. The torch must be able to bring the metal to a dull red.
First, clean the scale off the mild steel tubing prior to welding or brazing the parts together.
Notice we do not allow the round stock to turn bright red while running the rod. The rod works best just as the steel is turning red or dull red.
Apply the flux when the metal starts to change color, when the flux flows out, start melting the rod onto the parent metal.
This same brazing alloy will work on stainless steel, copper, bronze, chrome-moly, cast iron, silver, brass, cupre nickel, cast steel, german silver, gold, steel, and more.
