    Hi John, thank you for the review, I was looking for an e-bike for my MH garage, wanted fat tyres for going over fields with my hobby. So I checked out some more reviews and decided to buy one. I got an epic deal by being even cheekier 😂

    Enjoy the ride John ( we met at Mule a few days ago - the big black Sprinter XLWB ). I have 2 of them - the dual suspension model though - and they are great fun. Just watch out the 2 issues I've had in the past year of ownership.1) the upper bolt holding the rear mudguard is rivetted on and comes loose after a while and rattles like hell ! The advantage is that you don't have to use the bell as any people infront get out the way and very useful in a way. (2 ) the bolts holding the suspension links come loose and also start rusting after a while also. A dose of WD40 helps and the little tool kit has the ncessary allen keys to tighten them up so keep it handy !! Othyerwise ; enjoy .

    As I just bought a mirider gb3 on your recommendation 😂👍. In fairness I absolutely love it so far. Would be interested to know why you switched as we’re going to get a second bike and didn’t fancy shelling out another £2.5k so would be good to know what alternatives there are and how this one compares over different terrains

      The GB3 is an epic little bike, look at all the places it got me cycling around. The EP-2 is not small and not light but it’s still an epic bike for the money. I’ll be making a video soon which will explain why I changed bikes.

    Its not the case that its illegal if it has a motor greater that 250W. Confusingly, the 250 watts of assistance refers not to the battery or motor itself, but to the maximum power output of electrical assistance that kicks in when you pedal. To comply with EAPC regulations, the assistance will cut out when it reaches 15.5mph or 25kmph.
    Enjoy your bike John! 👍

    • @wizardorlegend
      @wizardorlegend 11 месяцев назад

      I don’t think that’s not quite true, it’s listed for sale on loads of websites as not uk road legal, as you can’t limit the output power of the motor to 250watts, so the power out put will always be 750watts. Even if it shuts off at 25kph.
      Such a shame, I really like the fact it has a rider size of 150kg.

    • @ajacks1349
      @ajacks1349 5 месяцев назад

      That's WHY they offer an EU version...but many strongly suspect that it's really rated 750W continuous...ALL very confusing when you don't know for sure what you're paying & what you will receive. Consequently LOTS of complaints about their & other brands.

    Wow ❤️❤️❤️ what a great looking bike. I’m looking forward to hearing more about it. Like you, I’m not keen on the key idea. I know on a normal folding non electric bike you can buy a handlepost in different sizes👌
    Maybe have a word with your bike shop.

    Maybe add some Slime to the inner tubes. Mending a puncture or changing a tube in that rear wheel is a pain with the multi strand power/control cable attached to the wheel, unless you have a cable inline disconnect.

  • @linz_in_NZ

    I wondered why that key fob was jangling about - how frustrating! I thought my frame lock was bad enough where it retains the key until you lock the back wheel, so you have to ride around with the key in it all the time. I do like how it folds and the useful handles/little stand for when its folded - those are well thought out - shame about the key, as you say, its in a really bad spot - does it fold? My ebike battery key folds in half into its own kind of case. I debated about a folding ebike, but couldn't find one that was decent for a reasonable price, so went for a standard ebike - need a bike rack now to take it with us on our travels, as it enables me to get out and about and explore a lot more.

    • @GadgetJohn
      @GadgetJohn  11 месяцев назад +1

      A folding key would help a little I guess, I’m just reviewing the cyrusher kommoda and it has a key to lock the battery in place but you don’t need the key in to use it, which seems far more practical.

    • @linz_in_NZ

    I weigh 22 stone and if I put my wife ( 31 stone) in a trailer to pull behind, will this bike have the power?
    Plus it’s a half mile 12% downward hill before we need to stop at the traffic lights in town, so I can see the brakes turning red hot under the braking so maybe I can upgrade to hydraulic brakes?

    There are a lot of people on this chat saying you need a CBT to ride this. I Think a lot of people are confused and do not understand its actually taking about the max power permitted at the wheel and not the motor size, so it would not require a CBT to use. It certainly looks like a nice bike, keep us posted on how you are getting on with it. I am still holding back on buying one just yet, really want to see someone giving them the test of time.

      @@CampervanEcosse, understand the confusion - took me a while to work this one out. 250w is the max power permitted at the wheel . 750w is the max power output rating of the controller (motor). This can provide a constant 250w at wheel without strain on the motor. i.e. the motor never has to be a max power to keep providing that constant 250w at the wheel = constant performance and longevity

      As I still think they make great bikes, and won’t stop singing their praises, I don’t think there’s anything to be sad about.

    Aw, poor MiRider... but I totally get why you went for this one, John. Looks just right for your needs and it will be good to hear how you go in, say, three months. YAM xx

      Mandy still has her MiRider and I’m still a huge fan of the GB3, so we’ll have plenty of shared experiences of going on with the two bikes. The biggest difference so far is my EP-2 uses no power at all so hardly needs charging, whereas the motor on the GB3 seems to be slightly assisting until 15mph and therefore drains the battery much faster.
