Hey loved the video was wondering what oil you run, I’m on factory recommended Castro 10-60. And is it ok to hold a gear at 6k rpm’s for a extended amount of time?
Thanks! I stick with the Castrol 10w60 oil that you would buy at a BMW dealership. It’s best to not over complicate things by trying to use a “better” oil than the recommendation of the company who actually built the engine. Maybe very specific usage/applications might find value in changing oil viscosities or brands, but for most normal people Castrol 10w60 is the answer. As for “above 6000rpm for an extended time”. If you can tell, my engine is over 6000rpm for almost the entire lap (except for turns 12/13) so really, my engine is staying at above 6000 rpm for the entire session which is usually 20 minutes long. I think it’s fine, but best to change the engine oil more frequently!
